Found Deceased TX - Emily Wade, 38, Ennis, Ellis County, 5 Jan 2019

Except for press conferences. And/or updating their webpage. Most other cases have at least addressed the public. I've seen locals asking if it's safe to be out and about. Or if the public should or should not be concerned.

On the Ennis Police Page. No response.

Ah ok, it must depend on the department. The police in my city have rarely ever addressed the public in missing persons cases even in the high profile case I was referring to earlier, when people in my neighborhood were freaking out. :-)

I hope she is found soon and if someone is responsible for her disappearance they lock them in the Slama and throw away the key.

All of these searches but not one more press conference. Why?

It's almost like ants running all over a bill with no direction! Are LE involved at all???

Relative silence can mean anything from too busy to engage concerns in public, taking leads and tracking those down, ruling out tips, looking at missing persons in the general national area/general timeline of Emily's disappearance, acting on another agencies direction, all the way to 'totally clueless, confused, nothing to say' as some might feel is possible.

I'd keep looking at other cases that feel familiar to this one, and consider what feels similar there.

It has to be whatever is not being said/shown is very telling here. No press conferences, no one really doing interviews etc. there has to be a reason for that. There is very very little information and now the last confirmed sighting is back at 5pm. Meaning the co-workers story of her leaving at 8.30 isn’t verified or there never was a movie night and something else happened there at who knows what time. Just my opinion. Hoping for Emily’s safe return!

Guys, this is a very small police department. Just giving this page a cursory look, it doesn't appear that they even have a PIO to coordinate public and media relations - press releases, press conferences, etc. Their CID consists of one Lieutenant and six Detective Sergeants, and their priority is to find Emily. At the same time they still have to perform their regular duties. MOO

Yes understood. I'm just saying that's how it is, not casting blame. I've seen where they ARE out searching with the family. Even today it seems.

They did post once on their official page, so perhaps their public expects updates, and/or reassurances that they (the public) are safe. JMO

Bu to be fair to LE, not knowing what their thoughts are, when an adult and their car vanish, it is probably 99% voluntary.

Maybe so..I would think they'd investigate in case of an accident though, especially if the circumstances warrant it, as in her family knows where she went that evening..when she was expected home...she has a little daughter...and is driving her mom's car. Plus testimony from them that she would not run away. I know those are not guarantees that she wouldn't run away, but that is only one option among several. JMO

The scary thing is she could be being held somewhere against her will and not being allowed to search this area could be the difference in life and death. If it was the last place she was known to be you think a search warrant wouldn't be out of the question.

I am afraid if it was my daughter/sister the law would have to stop me from searching wherever she went to watch the movie.

I do think LE is taking it seriously. Too much time has passed. But they sure are quiet, and not anxious to correct any errors in media reports.

Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on your perspective) search warrants need probably cause in order to be issued. This could be based on witness testimony or electronic info.

Someone posted this upthread a bit because the question did come up.

Don't believe this exists here. JMO

yes i kinda figured her being at someone's house wouldn't quite qualify.

In my heart, I do not feel that she left on her own. I just don't.

That's good to hear (that they're out searching today).

I don't either, Steels. :(

Jumping off your post to say IMO, when a person and their car go missing it’s 90% accident. But that’s just my opinion, and it’s what I still believe in this case, until the car is found.

I first thought it was an accident, but they have been searching and not finding anything....but finding the car is key. From what I understand she was not far away, so if there was an accident I think the car would have been found by now. It is always a possibility still.

Yes but don't these small police departments get assistance from County, State and FBI in these missing person cases?

Yes, and it's usually announced when other agencies, especially the FBI, join in the investigation. From page 12:
I'm glad to see the SAR team involved but no mention of other investigative agencies (TXDPS, FBI, etc.) is concerning. Did I miss it? Ennis PD only? It has been 10 days...
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
