I have asked the mods to move your posts from Emma's thread and put them in your very own thread.

TOS here states that you can snip from an article, but not reproduce the article completely on the boards.. In other words, feel free to snip a few sentences from your reference and then post a link.

Good Luck with your fight to regain your child!!

This judge in the Coe case is retiring the first week of March and this case will be one of her last. I am hopeful that there will be justice for this little boy of his former gf.

Thank you for keeping this thread devoted to Emma.

There are probably a lot of excuses. There wasn't any man living in the household, mother promised to keep a better eye on the daughter. Child was too young to testify against anyone. So they a) made sure mother was aware of the problem b) made sure there were no males living in the hh c) felt confident that if the mother determined who had molested her child that she would notify authorities d) was unable to substantiate a suspect

They just happened to be wrong.

Actually, he was living with them (according to later news reports) ... the mother lied to CPS and told them Emma wasn't exposed to anyone other than the parents, and usual caregivers. CPS took her at her "word."

Spring man likely to remain jailed in toddler's death

A Spring man accused in the abuse death of his girlfriend’s toddler daughter likely will remain jailed until his trial after a judge set his bond at $300,000 today, his lawyer said.

Lucas Coe and the mother of 4-year-old Emma Thompson, Abigail Young, are charged in the girl’s June 2009 death after she was hospitalized with 80 bruises, a skull fracture and signs of sexual abuse, authorities have said.

Coe and Young gave blood samples in court today. Also, State Judge Doug Shaver held a hearing to determine whether Coe, who previously was released in lieu of a $100,000 bond before returning to jail, should get a new bond set.

<SNIPPED>

The blood draw might serve to address another issue: Three weeks before her death, Emma’s pediatrician contacted Children’s Protective Services because she believed the child had been infected with genital herpes.

Emma’s mother, a registered nurse, told CPS the girl could have caught herpes from a swimming pool. Because genital herpes — in rare cases — can be transferred non-sexually, CPS did not remove Emma from her home.

It was unclear if this was the first blood draw ordered for Coe or Young. The judge ruled that the results of the test will be kept under seal until trial.

I apologize for what I am about to say, because it always angers me when anyone pulls the race card after a child is hurt, but I believe if Abby Young was a poor, high school dropout, divorced or never married AA or HA, this may have been prevented.

How often do you all think an abuser or an enabler admits to CPS "Yup, we did it - better take our kids, cause we are bad people." Are the caseworkers seriously this stupid?? I mean, if a kid has belt marks from a beating does CPS believe it never happened because the belts are put away?

The doctor isn't mandated to report a child with Herpes, she was reporting a child she believed was abused. Obviously the doctor didn't believe Emma caught this at the swimming pool!!!

An educated, upper middle class, white woman gave CPS the most ridiculous excuse I have ever heard for a child to be infected by an STD. Yes, it is possible (although very unlikely) to catch HPV from an infected person - with whom one has never had sex. It can happen, although I'm honestly not able, at this moment to put a scenario together in my head* - because I'm too up set about the level of failure by educated people that left this child in a home where she was being abused.

*If someone is caring for the physical needs of a disabled or injured person... not using good precautions that you would use when caring for any infection, but NOT - NEVER, EVER FROM A SWIMMING POOL!! NEVER!

BBM I thought we heard about this months ago, something about the strain of HSV that Emma had was the same as Coe's; am I remembering wrong or was it just that we knew they had the ability to test for the strain to see if they matched??

I have avoided this story like the plague, not for little Emma, but for the 🤬🤬🤬 who hurt this baby. And doubly for the scum of the earth, who grew this baby in her womb, then covered up for him while letting him abuse her precious baby.

Abby's atty, arguing the two girls should be left in the maternal Gma's custody so Abby can maintain a relationship with them.. I feel that she was a good mother and will still be a good mother to her remaining children," attorney Susan Edmonson said.

I think these attys and shrinks and whoever tells this lie - should be called on it. We all know they wouldn't leave their own kids in her care....

The picture on Curious Two's Avatar has made me tear up from day one. How could a mother allow anyone to do what Coe did.

From the hearing in July:

Fraser (neighbor and friend of 6 years) broke down on the stand when asked who she believed killed Emma.

"I think that Luke and Abby hurt her," Fraser said. "I think they killed her."
When asked why she felt that way, she answered, "Because Abby won't tell the truth."

The next door neighbor said Abby put super glue on Emma's head wounds and said, Emma had a bite on her back - that Abby claimed was done by Coe's daughter saying; "She's kinky just like her dad." WTH????

Even though Emma was allowed to remain in her mother's care despite the discovery of the STD, Estella Olguin with CPS said the agency did everything it should have done to keep her safe.

No I do not buy this... Any comments from the father or his family over a wrongful death suit?

Yes because knowing mom had a known abuser in her house would have been a red flag - but a baby with an STD wasn't....

For all of you who have been calling for mandatory sterilization of any 🤬🤬🤬 who allows a baby to be harmed on their watch or who harms a little one. I'm seriously thinking a double dose of drano to the private parts should take care of the problem and save the state the trouble of anesthesia or undo doctor bills. I'll chip in $5.00 for the first bottle, but make sure it is brand only. Wanna make sure it is the full strength.

Wonder how we can find out when this is scheduled to go to trial - for both of them, Coe and Young?

He will be in court on 5/27 for a motion on his abuse of his ex-girlfriends son in Montgomery County, prior to his relationship with Abby.

Thanks! I recall that that case had been scheduled to go to trial this past February.

Would be interested to know when trials will be scheduled for them in Emma's murder case. Will see what I can find - a general online search brings up nothing so far.

Has anyone heard anything on the hearing today? Can't find any media updates.

I registered on Vinelink to be informed of any court dates for either of them.

Still patiently waiting for the hammer to drop on Mom. Where are the other children? I would love to see any follow up for this case.

At last report, the other two daughters are with their paternal grandparents (the two surviving sisters have different fathers).

Coe is still in jail awaiting trial.

Anxious for updates. Belinda (above) will advise if she receives any updates, as well.

Coe & Young have a court appearance in Harris County on 6/7/10 at 9:00 a.m.
