Lucas Coe has an appeareance in Harris County District Court on 07/09/2010 at 9:00 a.m. I am assuming this is a pre-trial hearing. Unless he is testifying at Abigail's trial, which is unlikely IMO.

I do hope the hospital staff or coroner had the presence of mind to complete a rape kit. The DNA of the BF will ensure that he is locked away forever. I will bet my hard-earned $$$ that he has herpes too - AND that there are more victims.

This beautiful little baby girl....

So, let's tally up what the "mother" gained by being with this pig:

• A dead baby
• Genital herpes
• Probable LIP

Gosh, I really can't imagine ANYTHING that would have made it all worth it. I hope she sees what I see when she looks in the mirror every single day for the rest of her miserable life.

How, how, how could she have allowed this to happen to her own beautiful baby girl?

I realize no one here knows the answer to that question.....

The answer is not that difficult. This POC of a mother cared more for herself than she did for her baby girl. She thought of her needs, wants and desires - not of Emma's rights to be safe and protected in her own home. She allowed her POC boyfriend to use her baby girl in ways that normal people would never, ever think possible. AND she LIED to protect his sorry POC backside.

She put her head down and let out a wailing cry at the sight of her daughter's autopsy photos detailing the 80 bruises, internal injuries, fractured skull and herpes.

I can only hope her wails fall on the same deaf ears that failed to answer little Emma's cries.

The judge should have told her to shut it, or the court will shut it for her with a gag, or maybe the tube of superglue that her neighbor claimed Abby tried on Emma's scalp wound.

Her wailing only serves to anger me, I pray it had the same effect on the jury. May they find her guilty and lock her up for the full 99 years so she may never again walk free.

Prosecutors say a Former Brenham nurse on trial for failing to prevent the death of her 4-year-old daughter lied to doctors and investigators about a boyfriend now accused of raping the girl.

But an attorney for Abigail Young of Spring told jurors that the woman had her daughter tested for leukemia when she noticed her frequent bruising and consulted doctors.

Texas Child Protective Services revamped its investigations into alleged sexual abuse after the death.

This is what kills me over and over, these weak women who claim they didn't know what was what; then you find out they lied - to everyone, in Abby's case she lied to the doctors, protective services, the police and to Emma's daddy.

While I know this is not the fault of CPS, why does it seem they only commit to a case when it is too late? They admit RARELY is a case of herpes transmitted in non - sexual manner. So then RARELY should they assume it was not sexual and RARELY should an infected child be left in the care of her/his abusers.

The well-being of the child needs to come first, ALWAYS!!

All I know is the trial is still going on as Abigail is due back in court today.

My guess is there is no murder charge because they can't prove whether Coe () or Abbey () dealt the fatal blows. I am sure each would have tried to roll on the other, and could have resulted in a hung jury. Some prosecutors think a conviction is better than nothing, even if the charges are severely reduced. I tend to think (fwiw) that the judge, once the jury convicts (which I believe any sane person WOULD) will throw the book at both 's so that they will both be old and withered before they will ever see the light of day outside of the prison gates again.

As for Abigail, I am so disgusted! I think back to the interview she gave after she posted bail saying something like, "Jail? I don't belong there." And I am like, "You're right skankapotamous, you BELONG in HELL!" I don't think she'll be able to talk her way out of this.

Vis a vis the headstone...here is my HOPE...perhaps dad is waiting for a conviction so he can petition to have Emma buried closer to him, away from Abigail's family, then once she is in a final resting place, he will purchase a stone? I am reaching I know, but I am trying to think positive. Once Abigail is sentenced, maybe Emma will be moved to a better resting place, away from her maternal gramma, who enabled that Abigail, and where her dad and sisters can come visit.

WHY NO TRIAL UPDATES? THE TRIAL HAS TO BE CLOSED TO FINISHED NOW, RIGHT???

Why aren't we hearing anything? I want to know if this biz-nitch is going to attempt to defend herself on the stand. It will be the final nail for her, because she can't help but come off smug...just like her "news interview" when she made bail

Her attorney calling Abby a care taker would be laughable if it weren't so damn tragic! Abby was taking care of Abby and playing CYA by taking Emma to doctors and begging for an explanation. If only she was honest and told these doctors and CPS workers who really had access to Emma - was she that blind to the POC in her house? I don't believe it....

Following opening statements, Dr. Patricia Moore, the medical examiner for Southeast Texas Forensic Center in Conroe, testified how she performed Emma's autopsy, taking about 200 photos of body and internal injuries.

"They are not pleasant," Dr. Moore said of the photos.


At the defense table, Young began dabbing at her eyes with tissue as prosecutor Colleen Barnett introduced dozens of autopsy photographs into evidence, prompting a defense attorney challenge over whether the photos were duplicative and therefore, redundant.

We use photographs to chronicle our lives. These photo's tell Emma's story. There will be no pictures of Emma's first day of kindergarten, drivers license, riding her first two wheeler, prom, graduation, wedding or babies of her own. How dare the defense attorney call the photo's redundant! They are horrifying, heartbreaking, tragic, graphic, telling - but not redundant.

"Once the lights were shone on Emma, there was bruising all over her body -- on her stomach, she had a busted lip, bruising all over her face, on her chin area, on her legs. This child was beaten and bruised so badly," said prosecutor Tina Ansari in court on Tuesday. "Meanwhile, the defendant is in the ambulance talking on the cell phone."

"She doesn't delay. She doesn't stall. She takes her to Texas Children's Hospital and she tells them everything," said defense attorney Julie Ketterman.

Um would that everything be the LIE about your baby falling out of bed? Or was it the LIE about the herpes Emma got from the swimming pool. Or maybe the LIE that there was no man in the picture? OK half lie because no real man would hurt a baby like Coe did Emma.

"The statements given by both the mother of the child and the boyfriend were inconsistent with injuries presented," said Anthony Kelly, who worked on the case.

The autopsy showed Emma had "80 contusions, a severe head laceration, a scalp hemorrhaging, skull fracture, internal bleeding, a severe tear and hemorrhaging to the vagina."

There is no defense, there is no justification, there is nothing she can say or do that will legitimize the way her baby was beaten to death. She dabbed her eyes at the autopsy photos? Dabbed???? Glad she didnt break a sweat over them.

Grrr. She has had an additional year of freedom that was likely pain free...physically any way.

Prosecutors say they are hoping to wrap up their part of the trial Wednesday or Thursday.

I am a little more than torqued off that there is NOTHING in the way of updates about this trial. I guess there are trials like this every day in every city, some dolt who should never have been allowed to breed is caught when they kill or severely injure their child. I am just impatient. I want to know more about what's going on in that courtroom!

If this woman is not adequately punished, I will lose all faith in the justice system. It makes me ill just to look at a picture of her. She has been out of jail all of this time and hasn't even bothered to get her baby a headstone. That, right there, shows how much she cared about her.

Wonder what she thinks after some of the testimony that must of been presented this week.....who is satan now??? I also read, and had forgotten, that Abbey and Ben had only separated in April of 2009. Two months later Emma was dead....

Of course, he could have done that two days in a row....:furious: But I'm not sure Emma's little body could have withstood that. AY noticed the scalp laceration and tried to glue it back together. So, in total she told people that Emma was bruised from walking into tables, scraped her vagina on the pool, got herpes from a toilet seat (that isn't so far from the truth), and fell in the bathroom. I want to talk to Young's mother. Really I do. I want to try and open a dialogue with a family that would let this special beautiful little girl continue to rest without marking her grave.

OK. Now Emma is not mine-and it doesnt hurt her not to have a headstone. But she deserves so much to be recognized, and to be honored. Right now her only footprint in the world appears to be her brutal death. OMG-I wonder how her siblings are doing?

Lucas Ruric Coe's criminal history includes assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a child.


The boyfriend of the Spring woman whose 4-year-old daughter died after being beaten and sexually assaulted has a lengthy history with Texas Child Protective Services as well as criminal records for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal mischief and injury to a child, records obtained by the Houston Chronicle show.

Before Emma Thompson's June 27 death, CPS officials had investigated him not once but three times in unrelated cases involving another girlfriend's child.

Her daughter let a guy rape and kill her grandchild and yet she has no blame? :furious: I think that attitude isn't new and has been given to that monster all of her life by her parents.
