According to the arrest affadavit: “She inserted a unique door key, with an electronic chip, into the door key hole,” the affidavit says. “The door, which was slightly ajar prior to Guyger’s arrival, fully opened under the force of the key insertion.”

Document details Guyger’s account of shooting; Jean’s attorney tells different story

Why she would insert a key into a door that is slightly ajar, is anyone's guess. But IMO one possibility might be having one too many.

She didnt, she only wants the jury to think she "accidently" walked in after believing her key "unlocked" the door she didnt know was ajar.
She wants them to believe there was a chance she really didnt know it wasnt her apartment. (before she murdered a man on his own couch)

Shes disgusting

I really hope this goes to trial rather than a plea deal. I want all the facts to come out. I don't know that I agree with you 100% that she didn't know she was in the wrong apartment - her flipping out on the 911 call seems pretty genuine. It's possible she thought it was her apartment. But the fact remains she unholstered her gun and purposefully shot Mr. Jean, who posed no threat to her, when at the very least, she could have walked away. Then (it seems) she failed to render medical aid while fretting more about losing her job. I agree with you she's disgusting.

Im not villifying her for walking into the wrong apartment. Ive done that once, Ive opened the wrong car door it happens.
But the time and effort it takes to pull the gun out and shoot someone is MORE than enough time to realize where you are at and the surroundings.

Audio with transcript: Full transcript of Amber Guyger's 911 call after shooting Botham Jean

I'm surprised that the 911 operator didn't ask more questions about the condition of Mr Jean. Didn't even ask if he was breathing or advise on what kind of first aid to provide?

AG seemed mainly concerned about herself, not saying "omg get the ambulance here fast. Don't let him die. He needs help!" Instead it was all about what she's done and what she needs.

Even the intro to the call she's talking about herself. She didn't open up with "there's a man who's been shot, he needs an ambulance" it was all about her.

YES, you guys get it- the choice she made to shoot first and ask questions later. She felt entitled to take this man's life. She gave zero value to his life. She could have walked out, picked up her phone, and dialed 911 for an on-duty officer to help her remove this man from "her" apartment; at which point somewhere along the line she would have realized it wasn't her apartment. She could have done any number of things that would have spared his life if she had put any value in his life. She showed complete indifference.

I did that with a dorm room once as well.

Another thing that strikes me as very odd is that she maintains the door was either ajar despite the doors being apparently spring loaded and automatically closing, or that it was propped open- despite no apparent reason why the victim would have done so.

Then factor in that a witness apparently heard her ordering the door to be opened- despite her previous claims that the door was either somehow ajar, or propped open.

The totality just does not make sense and leads to the conclusion of her seeking out a confrontation.

Gray did a video on this case. He points out you can hear Botham moaning in the 911 call

I hope the DA doesn't offer her a plea deal because that wouldn't be justice for the victim or his family.

I thought I could hear him moaning while she was talking. And yet that moaning didn't make her switch to thinking about him. I know she said "hold on bud" a few times, but it doesn't feel like enough.

Yeah, like Gray said, it seems like she's a horrible PO, but all of the made up stuff on this case is ridiculous. No way she should have a murder charge. The prosecutor really screwed up on that, or now that I think about it maybe he did it on purpose because there is no way she'll be convicted of that. Unless there is a bunch more stuff we don't know.

Yes, I felt it was more like "hold on... for my sake!"

I wonder if the jury will be given options?

I'm aware of a few made up rumors that went around at the time, but I don't know if that's what you're referring to.

The last time I was reading in the thread there were a number of question marks over how she went to the wrong apartment, how she gained entry, and why she didn't recognise that it wasn't her apartment before she shot the occupant.

If she uses the defense that she was off her nut and went to the wrong apartment because she had worked 14 hours, and if that defense flies (which I think would be total BS), wouldn't that open up the Dallas Police department to have responsibility in this? It's so alarming that this person who became so unglued was a police officer. In that sense I think DPD has responsibility for hiring such a loser and putting a gun in her hand.

Do you happen to know if it's rumor or a confirmed fact that she was the one who filed the noise complaint?

I don't know about that one. I remember reading about that but I don't know what the truth behind it is.

I don't understand why she would not render aid. Even if it was a proper shooting, an officer should be providing aid. I think it is murder.
The fact that she shot at him twice is bothersome. If she had her gun drawn, panicked, and shot at him once that would be one thing. But shooting at him twice???? IIRC, gun shot residue was found on the entryway (door frame?) of the apt and also further in the apt by the kitchen. So was she was advancing on him? Sounds like murder to me too.

How did she see a black man in a pitch dark apartment to shoot him? She obviously turned on the lights before she shot him and if she lied about that nothing she says is credible.

She's also got witnesses who heard her pounding and yelling.

Sounds like murder to me, too.
