How did everyone think the prosecutors opening statement went?

This is a jury of all women except 4 and probably the most diversified I’ve ever heard of. I heard 12 of sixteen is non-white and while 4 are white.
I thought it was pretty powerful. I was young once. I know how important a booty call can be, but damn... We'll see what the defense throws against the wall, but at this point, I think she is screwed.

How do you miss the fact that the floor you parked on is open to the sky, whereas the floor you normally park on isn't?
Nope heard that but I already had knew that was the case. My favorite place to have a cocktail is literally across the from southside flats. It’s literally a rooftop bar and you can practically the whole view of Dallas and southside flats is literally right there as well as the garage, my husbands co worker actually lives at one of the townhomes across the street from where it was. Not sure if his coworker is one with the ring doorbell but most definitely one of those town homes that they wanted to get info from... but the garage isn’t that big to begin with, so I kind of already knew that part.

Amber believed her life was in danger...

ETA: IMO, if true she would have told 911. She didn't.

Was the prosecution indicating a break up occurred (with her partner/lover) after she reached the garage? He mentioned she pulled over. IIRC, he said she was functioning normally before that pause.
The prosecutor did say that Rivera (AG's partner) will testify that he was filling AG in on what happened after she left. They had arrested 3 people earlier that day. The prosecutor suggested that she pulled over as if to take notes for the case. IIRC.

Defense opening already? Hope they say why! By the way, of course she has a right to not take the stand, but I believe that she’ll have to, for that claim to have the slightest chance of being believed. It definitely can’t be proven by objective facts.

MOO

Def. OS: Discussing AG's work reputation as very positive.

"There will be nothing in law that justifies her doing this"

From pros opening statement. Amen.

I lived in a medical marijuana state. I promise if you walk into the home of someone who smokes it, you’d know immediately it wasn’t your home.

Did she think the burglar sat down to watch football, fold laundry and smoke a joint?!

Have they mentioned the dog yet? That’s another big thing she should have noticed.
Nobody's mentioned a dog! Who had a dog? Wiw

Yeah, I think if they can prove that she wasn’t tired and missed all those things. She’s done. Defense has to come out swinging because I don’t think there is a reason at the end of the day that she should get off for not recognizing where she was at, at that time. She still has to know exactly what’s going on in her surrounding regardless of her being tired or distracted by something else.

Def. OS: CRT [AG's police team/group] is expected to be more proactive. CRT team wear uniforms and are in marked squad cars. AG was elected to be a member of this team. AG joined Mark Rivera (AG's partner) and Justin ******* in the CRT team.

Def. OS: [AG and Rivera] spent many hours in their squad car....she's in her 20s....and she falls for him. Does that have anything to do with [this incident]? No.

Def. OS: Sometimes CRT has to come in early, sometimes they have to stay late. It's not for the money, it's necessary. The child molesters don't wait, the rapists don't wait....

CourtTV posted this 1:02 minutes short clip of Prosecution's opening summary:

Twitter

"Amber Guyger made a series of unreasonable errors and unreasonable decisions and unreasonable choices."

Def. OS: on the date, CRT was tracking a "band of robbers". [CRT] was relied upon to track these guys down. From Sunday, when she worked her extra job at a church downtown, to the time she clocked out on Thursday, she had worked 40 hours.

Court TV reported just a moment ago that we will hear testimony from the neighbor who allegedly heard Jean answer the door and he and Guyger exchange words.

Nice.

Def. attorney states AG wakes up at 5:30 and she has trouble getting to sleep at night. That she guilts herself, thinking if she is tired she is going to let her team down, and this makes it harder for her to fall asleep.

Def. OS: Southside Flats is a confusing place. None of the garage is marked. You drive by memory.

  • #219
Def OS: other residents reported doing the exact same thing.

Well sir, not exactly. They didn't shoot and kill someone, did they ...
