So if she only has to serve 35% of her sentence, she's out in 3.5 years??? WOW

  • #663
I think amber just went behind screen to cry. She is lucky she didn’t get more time

Thank You all for the updates ...

I have to run back catch back later !

is this a joke?

Nope. It's still Dallas, TX. Which has always been kind of a joke with these things. I feel a little stupid for hoping for more.

Thank God

So justice is dependent on how many lives are ended?
the punishment should reflect the heinous nature of the crime. I personally believe murder of children to be the most heinous crime possible and the penalty should be death in all 50 states.

family cannot be happy

So she can get out in 5? Five years for a conviction of murder is beyond ridiculous.

  • #670
Ha ha. Possibly I'm 10-15 range. So hard.

Wow, you nailed it Gitana! ;)

I was sure it was going to be in the 15-25 years range after the sentencing phase!

So, out in 5 years, disgusting, there are minorities in Texas serving more time than this for shoplifting or possession of a joint.

I thought she'd get more, but i think the pros. lost ground when they made it more of a racial or LE motivated case. She was guilty, and rightly found guilty. But in many other cases had they both been same race, or she not LE, a plea deal of less would have been made, IMO. I saw some of the rhetoric last night that pushed the 'punish her for trayvon, etc' and that totally pushed me to go for the more sympathetic sentence.

Any theories on why a jury would choose to convict her of murder instead of manslaughter, then choose to just
barely punish her?

They haven’t left the court yet bless them. Not sure if they are waiting for something else

so what happened with the NO parole?

  • #677
what happened?

  • #678
I thought since they came to the conviction so fast they would hand down a longer sentence. At least between 15-20. I'm disappointed but not surprised. I think this was a compromised verdict from beginning to end.

I think it's 1/2 the sentence if it's over 10 years but less if it's under. I might be wrong--in which case someone will certainly correct me.

I truly believe that some jurors agreed to murder in exchange for a lighter sentence.
