If he's guilty, forgiving is one thing. I'm all for it. Trying to cover up, lie and encourage the same to get out of punishment would, I think, be extremely dangerous. Charlie Brandt comes to mind.

Attorneys want murder charges dropped against Houston teen

In a motion filed Tuesday, attorneys Rick DeToto and Chris Collings claim the case against Antonio Armstrong, Jr. should be thrown out after several violations by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

According to the motion, the DA's office failed to turn over information and audio/video recordings related to a report that the teen's father, Antonio Armstrong, Sr., alleging he was involved in a prostitution ring before his murder.

"We were told that none exist," the defense attorneys claim in the motion, only to be later given 50,000 pages of phone records and an audio interview about the subject by Houston police.

more from the article:

According to court documents, Armstrong Jr. shot both of his parents as they slept. He then tried to start a fire outside his parents’ bedroom and said it was an accident, according to court documents.

The teen left a note on the kitchen counter, which read: "I have been watching for a long time. Get me," according to court documents. The note was an effort to make police think an intruder had broken into the home, according to court documents.

A security alarm in the home was activated at 9:52 p.m., according to court records. A motion sensor went off on the second floor around 1 a.m. and in the living room at 1:30 a.m., according to court documents. Armstrong Jr. deactivated the alarm just before 2 a.m. when police arrived, court documents said.

No where in any of these latest articles have I seen an actual trial date? Let's see if I can find court records in Harris County....

Attorney for teen accused of killing parents asks judge to dismiss case

His lawyer Rick Detoto claims the Harris County District Attorney's office withheld evidence for 18 months.

The evidence is reportedly an audio recording from a woman regarding death threats against Armstrong’s dad, Antonio. Detoto says the evidence would clear Armstrong, Jr.

“This young man wants to go to trial. We want to go to trial. We've been pushing to go to trial but unfortunately because we're constantly getting new information. We're constantly uncovering stuff that wasn't turned over and people didn't turn over it to us. We have to continue to ask for more time to get prepared.” said Detoto.

From your link--it was a short article so 10% isn't much

HOUSTON, TX — The defense team for a Bellaire teenager accused in the 2016 shooting deaths of his parents will present testimony from a family friend that alleges the child's father was involved in a prostitution ring, according to media reports.

Here's a longer article about it--see if you can access. There's a 6 minute video too. ETA--the video is an interview with the grandparents.

Armstrong’s defense lawyers have accused the Harris County District Attorney’s office of concealing an audiotape of an interview Maxine Adams gave Houston police that detailed her allegations, which the defense says bolsters the teenager’s story that the couple was killed in a home invasion.

“The reason the audio is so important is because she’s very specific about this prostitution ring. She gives names, she gives phone numbers, she gives how it works, she talks bank accounts and Facebook stuff,” said defense attorney Rick DeToto, adding an 18-month delay in finding out about the specific allegations denied his client’s right to a fair trial. “It could be considered obstruction of justice.”

Adams, a family friend of the slain couple, went to the Houston Police Department’s downtown headquarters five months after they were killed and detailed an alleged prostitution ring involving the older Armstrong and death threats made against him. The 42-year-old also apparently tried to change his life insurance policy because of the threats, DeToto said.
