The video in question, according to AJ Armstrong's attorney, is evidence that there is "another perpetrator" since Armstrong was already booked in jail for his parents' murder.

HOUSTON – A pink blanket has been making daily appearances in the third murder trial of Antonio Armstrong Jr.

You may think it’s because it gets cold in the 178th Criminal Courtroom, but there is a deeper meaning behind the blanket.

Defense attorney Rick DeToto has made the pink blanket a symbol of what he says is Armstrong Jr.’s innocence.

Updated 6/11/2023

The third capital murder trial for Antonio "AJ" Armstrong Jr. is expected to get underway Monday morning after a judge delayed it by a week last Monday. Armstrong is accused of killing his sleeping parents in their Bellaire-area home of southwest Houston in 2016 when he was 16 years old.
Minutes before attorneys were set to begin opening statements last Monday, Judge Kelli Johnson announced the case would be reset to June 12, at 10:30 a.m. She cited an issue "outside the court's control."
Armstrong and several family members who are supporting him then left the courtroom.

THE DEFENSE

Questions about older brother

Updated 6/11/2023

Armstrong Jr.'s lawyers said there was no blood, DNA, fingerprints or gunshot residue linking their client to the shootings.
“Where are the wet towels, the wet sinks, the wet showers, anything that would show that somebody cleaned themselves off or tried to hide evidence? It’s not there,” defense attorney Chris Collings said.

They also accused police of failing to consider other possible suspects.

“Within 11 minutes of going into that house, before any evidence was processed, before they knew anything about the crime scene as far as forensics, before anything, they made up their mind he did it," defense attorney Rick Detoto said.

Armstrong Jr.'s defense also cast suspicion on his older brother, who lived nearby, had access codes to the home and suffered from mental illness.

It’s back to court this morning for A.J. Armstrong, who’s facing a third trial in the death of his parents in 2016.

This is not your typical court case, so our approach to covering it isn’t typical either.

We’re offering trial watchers a multi-platform experience we call, “The Bench.”

It’s a layered approach that lets you choose how deep you want to go with it-- from a playlist of video shorts online to a live, long-form analysis with criminal trial experts.

HOUSTON – The capital murder trial of Antonio “AJ” Armstrong, Jr. was reset for the second time on Monday morning.

Judge Kelli Johnson declined to discuss the reason for the delay in open court, continuing to cite issues “outside the court’s control.”
[.....]
But multiple sources confirm to KPRC 2 Investigates that the delay is related to clothing found on Armstrong Jr. the night his parents, Dawn and Antonio Sr., were murdered in their southwest Houston home in 2016.

Nothing else new in the article.

Picking the jury took three weeks. ABC13 listened to more than 150 hours of in-depth, one-on-one questioning. They have 16 people -- 12 jurors plus four alternates - but the judge initially told them they'd only be on this case until the end of June, at the latest.

[.]

The trial is expected to take between two and three weeks.

If there are more delays, something to consider is how that will affect the jury, but we won't know the answer to that until the trial starts.

Now, the trial is set to start July 31 at 10:30 a.m.

If this info is correct, I'd think it's an important factor in the case. Moo.

HOUSTON – Opening statements in Antonio “AJ” Armstrong Jr.’s third murder trial have been delayed for the second time.

On Monday morning, Judge Kelli Johnson, who continues to cite reasons “outside the court’s control,” delayed Armstrong Jr.’s trial to July 31.

This comes one week after the trial was originally delayed on Monday, June 5. On that day, Judge Johnson also cited reasons “outside the court’s control.” stating that a continual ongoing issue needs to be addressed.

So curious about this, especially since it's the 3rd bite at the apple - new evidence? tampered with? how could it be good for the defendant, just don't see how... outside the court's control - perhaps refers to evidence processing times, otherwise it IS witnin her control, but what's being done now that wasn't earlier?
