Is it just me or does anyone else find it odd the person reporting this possible abduction was able to provide a detailed description of the abductors shoes?

Where did the grainy photo of the van come from?

@Cubby, long time no see! This whole account is odd. I think if a child had been abducted by a stranger, a report would have been made by now. I'm guessing it's a parent or guardian, and they haven't come forwards because they're afraid they'll be in trouble.

This young girl was taken by her non-custodial mother in Hawaii but may be stateside. Age, race & hair match but obviously a longshot. Can someone try to post her missingkids.org page? It won't load on my phone's browser.

I am thinking this might not be a true abduction. No one has reported a child missing!

Very odd reporting IMO.
When I was a child, I was playing around with my dad and pretending to be asleep. He fully supported me as I walked to the car in a downtown urban area, laying back in his arms, but walking as he steered me to the car with my eyes closed. A stranger took down our license plate number and police were waiting at our house when we got home. My dad was interrogated and they kept asking me if I loved my daddy and if he was nice to me. They even took a photo of an existing family portrait of me posing with my dad, proving he hadn’t just kidnapped me.

Anyway, storytime over, but without a missing child, many scenarios are possible. I’m grateful police are taking it seriously, even if it may be innocent.

All my own experience

This location is approximately two blocks from where the supposed abduction took place. Not sure why you've linked. There are three white vehicles in the image, but none look like the one in the photo supplied by LE. Has additional information been released?

That’s bizarre story, nobody seems to report a missing girl if she was around 5 years old surly her parents would notice her missing, 5 year old alone on street around 7pm? Sounds late.
Maybe it wasn’t abduction but a family member or caretaker of the little girl just took her home didn’t realise that what he did was seen as abduction and didn’t see the news. Not everyone is watching or reading the news.I can also think that witness might be mistaken or made it all up IMO.

Once I took my cousin to playground which he didn’t want to leave. I ended up carrying him to the car while he was screaming and crying and yelling “ I want my mom you are not my mom help “ so yeah someone actually called police and I had some explaining to do.
Sometimes things can look suspicious but it turns out it was just a family member. Hopefully that’s the case.
Imo

What an unusual case.

A 5-year-old would not be walking the streets by herself, and anyway would surely have been reported missing.

I wonder why the LA consider the witness so reliable. I suppose it’s really good they are following up, just in case.

I wonder if there is a race component at play here (little girl blonde, man reportedly darker skinned). Could have been a totally normal interaction of a stepdad or step-grandad taking a little girl home, which the witness then took out of context.

I also think that the photo of the white van doesn’t match the description “black side windows and some kind of papers or paper design on the sides.”

Nice to see you and have time to visit WS again.
I don't think there was ever a child near this van. My gut tells me someone took a photo of the van because of the strange paper window coverings and made up the story to go along with the photo.

Probably an owner with valuable tools who needed a quick fix before getting better window coverings.

Around 6:50 p.m., witnesses saw an older man get out of a white van in the 1200 block of Roberts Street, grab a little girl, and put her in it.

It says witnesses plural in several news reports, but I wonder if that was misreported and there was just one? I'd be less inclined to think someone straight out lied or had an overactive imagination if there were several eyewitnesses (preferably unconnected to each other).

What a strange case. I really hope that if these witnesses actually *did* see a man grabbing a girl there's actually an innocent explanation. I agree that if this was a stranger abduction the girl's family would have reported her missing... So it could be a messy custody situation, or something completely innocent.

The Amarillo Police Department is still asking for pictures and videos in relation to a possible child abduction investigation that happened in east Amarillo Thursday.

APD provided an update on that possible abduction that took place in the 1200 block of South Roberts around 6:50 p.m. on Thursday and Sgt. Carla Burr with the Amarillo Police Department stated in this possible child abduction case, they are still searching and still asking for help.

“We are treating it like a child abduction until something changes it to make it not or if we are able to finally identify this little girl, I’m hoping it’s not. We just can’t ignore it, because the potential is there that there is a five-year-old child that has been abducted that is in danger,” said Sgt. Burr.

Still nothing? The more time passes the less likely that it was real abduction IMO.

I think there are some ways it would make sense that this child was abducted but doesn't appear to be reported missing. She could have escaped her abductor and then was recaptured immediately (in which case she could be anywhere). Her parents could be afraid to report (family issue or crime related). Her mother could also be missing/ in danger and told her to run but the kidnapper caught up to her. All speculation but I wouldn't write it off as a fabricated story. Until that van is located and the driver investigated I think it's awesome that LE is doing what they can to resolve this.

Still no resolution? Happy to hear LE is still following up. Even just a slim chance this was an abduction is terrifying. One child in peril is one too many.
