It isn't bad enough to have someone missing, then you have lowlifes attempting to extort money. This is really despicable. The FBI is investigating after an attempt to extort money from the mother of missing Fort Hood Pvt. Gregory Morales, 23.
On Thursday she found out the FBI is stepping in after she received a Facebook message that claimed her son was being held hostage for money that he owed to someone.
“First they asked me how much could I pay, then came back with $15,000,” she says.
Then, she got an email from someone else.
“He was saying he had Greg and he was fine, but they were going to kill him in 10 days if he didn't have the money,” she says.
The email included an edited picture of her son's face, she says on someone else's body, in an unfamiliar living room.
The picture had Wednesday’s date stamped in the corner.
But the requests didn’t stop there.
“I had another lady send me an email saying she would give the address he's being held at for two bitcoins,” she said.
That translates to about $21,000.
The FBI confirms it is assisting with the investigation.

Are there any bodies of water near a roadway he might possibly have been on?? Vehicle is black. Not easy to spot. Could it be possible to spot from the sky? Or on Google Earth?
Some woman lost control of her car on a highway in Northern Virginia. It may have been snowy. Her car was down an embankment just off the highway, but the vehicle and she weren't found for more than a week. There was no water involved.
But I'm aware of several cases now where the vehicle was found underwater, with the driver still in the vehicle. Is this a possibility that's been checked out?
Also, apparently any deaths in water within the boundaries of the United States involves the Coast Guard in some way. I don't know if they investigate/do a report when the death is discovered or what. I was just told any death in water in and around the United States is recorded by the Coast Guard. Has anyone checked on anything with the Coast Guard?
Is there a possibility he was carjacked?
There is Belton Dam / Belton lake and stillhouse in the area. Depending on where he was staying or where on Ft. Hood he may have been they're 'close'. Closest thing we have in the area.
Are they saying that? I haven’t heard. But who knew he was there? Someone called it in. Maybe the family received a note. If suicide maybe note in his pants. Idk. Guessing.it's hard for me to believe he took his own life... he was going to be leaving Fort Hood and had JUST bought a new car.. a new start, a light on the horizon of beginning a new life. The new car is the piece to me that really makes me think he did not intend to take his own life... moo
Oh wow! JeezLocal to this. I saw this on KWTX’s fb (local
