Where is the suspected infidelity mentioned?
He was going through a divorce at the time of his disappearance and there is a lot of info on social media regarding possible infidelity (speculation, MOO)

The FBI is investigating after an attempt to extort money from the mother of missing Fort Hood Pvt. Gregory Morales, 23.

On Thursday she found out the FBI is stepping in after she received a Facebook message that claimed her son was being held hostage for money that he owed to someone.

“First they asked me how much could I pay, then came back with $15,000,” she says.

Then, she got an email from someone else.

“He was saying he had Greg and he was fine, but they were going to kill him in 10 days if he didn't have the money,” she says.

The email included an edited picture of her son's face, she says on someone else's body, in an unfamiliar living room.

The picture had Wednesday’s date stamped in the corner.

But the requests didn’t stop there.

“I had another lady send me an email saying she would give the address he's being held at for two bitcoins,” she said.

That translates to about $21,000.

The FBI confirms it is assisting with the investigation.

Fort Hood: FBI investigates attempt to extort mother of missing soldier
It isn't bad enough to have someone missing, then you have lowlifes attempting to extort money. This is really despicable.

There is a group on YouTube, Adventures with a Purpose, and there have been others in addition to A w/ Purpose, who have located vehicles under water and the driver is still in the vehicle. Apparent car accidents. Is there anyway someone can check into this possibility with Gregory? IMO this is a lead that could locate Greg's car, maybe Greg, and is worth pursuing.

If you do a Facebook search for "Gregory Wedel-Morales," there is a post from DW, a self-identified sister-in-law, dated April 28, 2020. There are 620 comments, and while most are repetitive, there are some interesting comments/replies.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the “Ft. Hood Fallen” FB page for a few weeks now too because I’m convinced there is something odd happening there that Command isn’t willingly on top of. It is a vast base but if these disappearances (and deaths) can be occurring at (what is supposed to be) a secure and tightly surveilled military installation then it does not bode well for national security. Affected families deserve better answers not stonewalling, and young soldiers serving there deserve a safe environment.

Vanessa Guillen is their latest, as you will know. There have been literally hundreds of disappearances and deaths in the past decade - I recall reading somewhere of 52 deaths by various means in the 12 months of 2016, all listed in detail, many in mysterious circumstances or simply written off as suicide after a cursory investigation.

There is a dark predatory undercurrent to much of what I’ve read and you just can’t help but speculate that some rotten apples are well embedded in the ranks. A “church” recruiting on base and around the town (which military command and federal authorities are apparently well aware of) is also a giant rabbit hole of intrigue.

A lot of things don’t neatly add up with Gregory, but it makes no sense whatsoever that he would voluntarily go AWOL with only a few weeks of service left before scheduled discharge with full benefits.

Are there any bodies of water near a roadway he might possibly have been on?? Vehicle is black. Not easy to spot. Could it be possible to spot from the sky? Or on Google Earth?
Some woman lost control of her car on a highway in Northern Virginia. It may have been snowy. Her car was down an embankment just off the highway, but the vehicle and she weren't found for more than a week. There was no water involved.

But I'm aware of several cases now where the vehicle was found underwater, with the driver still in the vehicle. Is this a possibility that's been checked out?
Also, apparently any deaths in water within the boundaries of the United States involves the Coast Guard in some way. I don't know if they investigate/do a report when the death is discovered or what. I was just told any death in water in and around the United States is recorded by the Coast Guard. Has anyone checked on anything with the Coast Guard?
Is there a possibility he was carjacked?

There is Belton Dam / Belton lake and stillhouse in the area. Depending on where he was staying or where on Ft. Hood he may have been they're 'close'. Closest thing we have in the area.

By close, I mean close to the road. If the weather was bad, roads wet or slick, and he was going too fast, would it have been possible for him to lose control and end up in the water? Is the water that close to the road? Or, when there is a hurricane or thunderstorm, flooding, if conditions were like that and he was out driving, could he have been swept off the road into the water? That's the sort of thing I was wondering about.

it's hard for me to believe he took his own life... he was going to be leaving Fort Hood and had JUST bought a new car.. a new start, a light on the horizon of beginning a new life. The new car is the piece to me that really makes me think he did not intend to take his own life... moo

Are they saying that? I haven’t heard. But who knew he was there? Someone called it in. Maybe the family received a note. If suicide maybe note in his pants. Idk. Guessing.

A body found after a tip leads me to believe homicide vs. suicide. Who would have (and then more importantly, sit on) information regarding the location of someone who committed suicide for a period of 10 months? It seems more likely that someone involved (either directly, indirectly or "just" having the knowledge about what happened) would be more likely to sit on that info for such a long period of time.

Where is the vehicle?
It seems with most cases I've followed here that ended up being suicide, the vehicles either were never missing or were found before the person was located. In this case, it seems the vehicle has not been located, which seems suspicious.... to me at least. I dont know that I've ever followed a suicide case here where the persons vehicle was never recovered.

His wife previously posted here. Her profile says she is verified family. So, she went to the trouble of being verified but never posted about Greg again. Wish we had more details about what was going on with Gregory just before his disappearance.

The article quoted the mother as saying he had called her for gas money. How did he have the money to have JUST purchased a new car but did not have enough money to put gas in his tank? What were his finances like? Where was his money going? Were there any new expenses that were out of the ordinary for him?

"The remains were found during a K9 search of a wooded field in the 3200 block of Florence Road in Killeen after the Fort Hood Criminal Investigation contacted Killeen police in reference to a tip it received."
BBM
This makes me think it might be something other than suicide. Who would call in a "tip" to the criminal investigation team if they just came across skeletal remains? It appears they searched the field for the body which says to me the tipster just knew where the body might have been. I hope this is truly investigated and they don't just blow this off as a suicide. Particularly because another soldier is still missing from this base under very suspicious circumstances. RIP Gregory and thank you for your service.
