TX - Hailey Dunn, 13, Colorado City, 27 Dec 2010 - #1

might even be beneficial to hit up the Kayleah Wilson story as well.... tell the reporter ((or ask the reporter LOL)) do they want to be responsible for another case of misplaced labels! They need to get the story straight as soon as possible and get her face out there.

I think Hailey's story is getting buried because it has been labeled "Runaway" and media is thinking "typical teen runaway story" and LE is perpetuating the runaway story by not releasing any more information confirming any details.

Thank you everyone for helping get all of this media attention!!!!

I do want to restate my previous opinion that while I am frustrated at the lack of any leads of Hailey's whearabouts, I agree with redcat. The members of the local LE (all departments) are good people, and I know that every single one of them wants Hailey found safe and returned home. I am sure they have the best of intentions.

The only problem I have is that they turned down help from the Abilene PD. They should be taking whatever help is offered, especially considering the small force, lack of experience in abductions, and length of time Hailey has been gone. Not to mention that they are publicly saying that they have no evidence of anything.

I couldn't care less which agency finds Hailey, or which TV show someone is watching when they see a picture of Hailey and call in with a tip, or who gets the reward. The only thing I care about is Hailey's safe and swift return.

OMG.....Speechless.

I have a question about something that I am curious about. Would Hailey's mother be able to get a lawyer in on this to try to get the LE moving? I find that pretty sad that they are turning down help.

OK, wow, I can no longer keep up with all the posts. I'm sorry..... but all this attention for Hailey is great. I

I would like to ask a favor please. Those of you who have had some kind of response or acknowledgment from any media source please send me a PM with that information so that I
can try and follow up and see if they would be receptive to at least talking to Billie.

Thanks so much

I agree

BBM....

Oh wow that is just ridiculous if you ask me!! Why would they do that? As you said they should be taking any help they can get.

I believe that they have recieved assistance from Snyder PD and Mitchell County Sheriff Department, which makes sense. I believe there were possible leads in Snyder and C-City is in Mitchell County. This in no way indicates incompetance, any PD with so few officers would need assistance. After all, life goes on and I am sure there are plenty of calls to answer which are completely un-related to Hailey! They have to sleep and eat and take care of their own families in addition to looking for Hailey and protecting the whole community!

Since the Texas Rangers are now involved in the investigation, hopefully things will start moving along.

Colorado City girl missing

It has been a week since a 13-year-old girl from Colorado City has been missing.
Hailey Darlene Dunn was last seen on Monday, Dec. 27, at 1804 Chestnut Street in Colorado City around 1 p.m., wearing navy blue sweatpants, a short sleeved light colored T-shirt and pink and white tennis shoes. Hailey has hazel eyes, pierced ears and brown hair with blondish streaks. She is 5'1" and weighs 120 pounds.
On Friday, Dec. 31, Colorado City citizens spread throughout the city and even into Sweetwater to pass out flyers in an effort to expand the search. According to Colorado City police, investigators are following up leads from phone calls and have met with family, friends and neighbors to find the missing girl....

czgtz since you are here, do you know if LE has talked to any registered sex offenders in the area ?

I am praying that this case gets more media attention. It's scary that CC is right on the interstate which travels straight through Texas.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned, but CC has a 1,600 acre lake.

You are absolutely correct. A PD that is already strained in terms of staffing and then a missing child case would definately and understandably need assistance from other LE agencies. MOO

Thank you TGIR. When I say local LE, I am talking about the PD, Sheriff's Office, DA investigators, and State Troopers. This is a very small town, and like redcat, I know most of them. They have worked their butts off pulling all-nighters and following up on leads.

My point is that when a child is missing NO help should be turned down, even if you already have 100 agencies partipating in the investigation. Until that child is home, there is no such thing too many people helping.

Im not any good at it but maybe we need some of our wonderful map sluethers to start mapping potential search sites. Ive seen some amazing work done with maps in Zahras thread. JMO

Billie was told that RSOs were checked out. She doesn't know if it was a 'knock and ask' or a full search.

I was away over the weekend and just got caught up. Here is the map that I created, though it is not much of one. Still don't have an address for Hailey's father to add that to the map. I know it is across the stree, but which way. I am curious to see which direction she was headed and which direction she changed route to. Also, an address for the friend that she was supposed to be staying with.

I am absolutely confident that CCPD cares and wants to find Hailey. Absolutely, they have the best of intentions.

When trying to help someone, I always have the best of intentions. If someone was having a heart attack in front of me I would do anything in my power to help them.

However, if I chose to do the heart surgery myself, rather than calling in a doctor... I would not be helping them. I should just do CPR, or shock them until the cardiologist gets there. I should also certainly accept anyone who offers to help me with CPR in the meantime, because I will certainly need that help. It will be exhausting.

CCPD should have handled this until the FBI or Texas Rangers arrived to take over. They should have accepted any offers for help in the meantime. I don't know what the reason was for not doing so, but it was a mistake in my opinion. Hopefully it won't make a difference to bringing Hailey home. :twocents:
