Cops searching for missing cheerleader, 13, dig for new info

HAILEY-DUNN.jpg

Breaking news - As police search frantically for missing 13-year-old Texas cheerleader Hailey Dunn, they reportedly struggle to sort out alleged inconsistencies in her family's stories surrounding the case! Nancy Grace has the latest, 8 p.m. ET on HLN.

I really don't see inconsistencies per-say from LE, I see bad reporting. They always work the case from different angles. They say things for a reason to get certain people talking. We never know for sure what is going on inside a case. I mean really, how is this different? If we went back through every case and went by the reporters you could say LE was being inconsistent..........

Can someone explain to me what the purpose is in lying to LE when your child has gone missing if you are 100% innocent of any wrong doing?

I just got finished catching up on Jonathan's thread and am flabbergasted that the mother in that case (who is innocent) lied to LE saying the child was with a sitter when he went missing when in reality ... he was home alone.

As someone said earlier, you need to tell the 100% truth ALWAYS if your child goes missing. I don't care if you ARE sleeping with the pizza delivery man and smoking a crack pipe .... AT LEAST law enforcement will have INFORMATION immediately and even the smallest thing could lead to that child being found ALIVE versus dead. Go to jail for leaving them home alone, or for smoking pot, but at least give your baby a chance to be saved.

I'm so frustrated right now that someone wouldn't give the 100% truth when it's their CHILDs life on the line. I am just praying that the people in Hailey's life either read this or someone tells them - NO LIES. NONE. No possible consequence (arrest) is worth losing a child over.

I'm a little behind, so this may have already been addressed, but I've thought about this every time they say BD called them in. Its been my experience that the Texas Rangers are stationed all over the state and each county has at least one Ranger assigned to them. They are part of the Texas DPS (Highway Patrol) and probably would not have to be "called". I'm assuming the local Troopers were aware of the case and the local Ranger was already on it as soon as the local PD knew something wasn't right.

I'd never heard of this forum until this case, and its been very interesting, but when folks start bashing LE I don't believe that's doing any good at all. Some agencies may be a little more transparent than this one, but that certainly doesn't mean they're not doing anything or that what their doing is wrong!

Two weeks AFTER Hailey goes missing and they have just now found two girls that may have information:waitasec:

I would think especially when LE considers Hailey a runaway
that any and all interviewing of friends would have already been done

I don't think so. I would hope Nancy's producers are well aware of the INCONSISTENCIES in LE's side and well, since no one from LE is willing to clear them up...................

Yes, I hope that NG continues the admirable way she started with this particular case and uses her excellent prosecutorial skills to interview BD and CD to shed some insight into what LE has accused them of not revealing.
I an hoping she doesn't go off on some wild bangee tangent that's for sure.

What are the alleged inconsistency by the family? From BD or CD's side? Can someone updated me?

I believe they had spoken to these girls briefly and they didn't volunteer this info................

I don't think LE could have learned much at the school unless they did one-on-one interviews...kids are not going to speak up in a large group setting...
when i was in school we had a student that had committed murder and others were there to see, they held an assembely and all it took is for one student to start and the rest chimed in, SOMETIMES kids that age follow the lead of their peers, hopefully someone spoke up if they know anything.

can someone please explain to me why or how this would be a hoax? I'm a little dense here.

We had a case very similar to this here in Canada, when Victoria Stafford went missing (can be found in the cases awaiting trial section of WS). Mom and Dad split up, each with their own new significant others and the mother was very forthright with the media about everything that was going on. Most people thought something was up with her and her boyfriend and they were put under a lot of scrutiny. Once the fundraisers started, it was mentioned that perhaps this was a hoax to get money. Of course it turned out to not be the case at all unfortunately. And the mother, even though she had not been entirely truthful with LE in the beginning due to her own drug issues so they were very suspicious of her, was completely exonerated when the child was found to be abducted and murdered by likely two strangers.

I certainly hope for a better outcome for Hailey. At this point I'd almost wish for a hoax situation here if it means she's okay. :(

Can someone tell me where this info is at?

So now we don't even know what day she went missing on, they aren't being truthful with LE, they failed polys and it's still LE"S fault? pppfffttttttttttttt. If it walks like a duck......... How much more do you need to see that it's looking like the family is involved. If you were just reading about this case and didn't have family friends sharing their view, what would you think?

I think that the stigma that has been placed on lack of parenting (sometimes bad parenting all around) has caused for LE to focus primary on that and make a beeline for the "suspect". In these cases, it's usually the parents/primary caregivers that become the focus.

It's sort of a catch-22; either tell all your dirty laundry and be suspect number 1, or in the very least catch a negligence charge of some sort.

While I also agree with what you are saying, and do believe it the best option, I do sort of understand why these parents are being deceptive - if that makes any sense.

I believe they had spoken to these girls briefly and they didn't volunteer this info................
The identities of the girls were discovered this morning after Senior Department of Public Safety Trooper Sparky Dean and Pete Kampfer, city manager for Colorado City, met with middle school students at 8 a.m. to discuss Dunn’s disappearance.

Dean and Kampfer asked Colorado Middle School sixth grade students if they had any information about the two girls who were seen walking east with Dunn in the 200 block of Manuel Street in Colorado City on either Dec. 26 or Dec. 27. Dunn disappeared Dec. 27 after reportedly telling her mother’s live-in boyfriend that she was going to spend the night with a friend.

Dean said they received the names of the two girls after meeting with sixth grade students. The girls previously had been asked generic questions by investigators, and Dean said they would be questioned again to see if they might have any information about where Dunn was going or where she may be.

Can someone tell me where this info is at?

Billie said they failed the poly's on NG.

"At this point, we aren't positive if she went missing (on that) Sunday, Monday, or even Tuesday," Dean said during a news conference on Jan. 9.

"The family has not been forthcoming," said Senior DPS Trooper Sparky Dean. "Their discernment of the truth continues to change. It's very frustrating."

Anecdotal story, but when my daughter was in the 8th grade, the schools were experiencing a few high-dollar tech thefts. They had an announcement in the classroom, and one teacher noticed that my DD looked uncomfortable. She pulled her aside and asked her if she wanted to talk. My DD told her everything she knew (I didn't even know that she knew anything!!!). I was so proud of her. She even won 500.00 from Crime Stoppers. So, yes, I think the above is true...along with teachers knowing their students.

I do not believe she is a runaway either..not for a second,

I have a feeling NG might tear the family apart tonight because of the changing stories. I hope Billy is ready for that... :(

IMO Nancy will not attack Billy because she looks so devastated about her missing daughter, lost weight and told SA not to return home after he failed LDT.She does not fit the look of a Mother who is involved in her daughters disappearance. All the major cases of a mom doing harm to her daughter(casey A,mistyC etc) did not look any different and went about parting and getting married etc. none lost weight and looked as distraught as Billie does.Failing LDT could be an investigation tactic ,just being told SA failed test,or just for the simple reason of her having even just a slight doubt of SA involved but not really believing he is involved.Look at BTK he fooled his family, coworkers, and his church community had no idea he was a killer, she was at work she was not home ,she really has no idea if SA story is real or not. Then adding LE saying he failed test, she has her test and was probably full of doubt at that point about SA involvement.

The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. Sigh.

Well, I think that at least one of those hands is jerking us around.

Sure didn't matter to NG when she attacked Crystal, Haleigh Cummings mom. :innocent:

True....
At this point and time NG is BD's saving grace so to speak, NG picked up the story when no one else would, not even the local media 60 miles away. If it wasn't for NG, HD's picture and precious face might not be out in the public's eye because LE was simply going to classify her as runaway and hope for the best that she returned home safely on her own. Not going to bash NG, I'm thankful she stepped up to the plate in the begining and did what others would not.
