After following the news, this forum, and the Nancy Grace shows, I feel very sad for Billie and I believe she had no part in causing Hailey to go missing and that she has no idea where she is or how she is. She looks so worn out, sad, grief stricken, and exhausted. I believe she made some bad choices in a male partner and that she might have been neglectful in keeping on top of what was going on with Hailey. Also, she seems to have made poor choices in other areas like letting her nursing license lapse and/or be revoked, working as a nurse without a license, and possibly using marijuana or other drugs. But I think she was doing the best she knew how to do at the time and that she was not intentionally trying to mess up her life or the lives of her children. I believe Clint Dunn had nothing to do with Hailey going missing. He appears to have loved his children a lot.

As for Shawn Adkins, I think he is immature, a real jerk, and posibly dangerous. We already know that he lies. I don't believe him when he says he loved Hailey with all his heart and that he believed she felt the same way towards him. As to whether or not he saw Hailey at the time he said he did and she told him she was going to visit her dad and then spending the night with MB, well I just don't know. In spite of his other lies and odd behavior, that could have been true or it might not have been true. I think he is capable of harming Hailey, capable of molesting her, and who knows what else. But did he actually do it? I don't know. He might have and possibly he didn't. If Hailey was out walking around by herself in the afternoon in her neighborhood, its possible that some stranger preditor could have dragged her into a vehicle and taken her out of the town and even out of the state to do who knows what with her. A stranger could rape and kill her, could lock her up somewhere alive and be holding her, could sell her into a child sex ring. I really don't think that Hailey ran away. And even if a 13 year old did run away, the world is a dangerous place and a young girl could fall victim to so many bad things while out in the world alone. It would be hard for a 13 year old runaway to survive on her own unless she was taken in by someone who would give her food and clothes and a warm place to stay--and I believe a 13 year old would soon get homesick and want to go home. Sadly, I think someone has harmed Hailey and that she is no longer alive, but I hope and pray that I am wrong. I'd love to see her come home alive and well. Its so disturbing that many young girls (and boys) just seem to disappear into thin air never to be seen or heard from again. It even happens to babies and toddlers too. Someone knows something but no one speaks up and talks. I think witnesses are often mistaken in what they think they saw and the day they think they saw someone. It is easy to get confused on days, dates, and details while trying honostly to tell the exact truth. Memories are not always perfect, or even very good at times. Honost and credible people can make mistakes and be certain that they are telling the truth! Sometimes I think that children should have tracking devices implanted in them before they even leave the hospital as babies! It may seem an invasion of privacy but maybe it could bring some of these missing children home, and hopefully while still alive. I just pray that Hailey is alive and well somewhere but I doubt it. It would be a true miracle if she could be brought home safe and healthy. And I hope Hailey's brother is getting love, support, and care during this terrible time, as he needs it now more than ever with his sister missing. I will pray for the whole family and pray that Hailey will be found soon.

Has anyone considered the possibility that SA never actually made those threats - or if he did, they were just a "matter of speaking" and never intended as a serious threat?

In the first call, BD starts out by saying she doesn't want SA in the house for fear he'll take something. Police response is along the lines of "there's not much we can do about it" - THEN she "ups the ante" by suggesting her son might be there and SA might be a danger to him. That still doesn't get far with the police.

From the way the officer responds to the second call, I'm fairly certain there were other calls/visits to the station in between - and again, judging from the way the officer responds, it sounds as if BD doesn't get what she wants. So, she says that SA threatened her and her ex. (I would REALLY like to know if the officer saw those text messages she claims BD sent.)

Then - SA calls police reporting she might be suicidal. Maybe BD has been calling him giving him a bunch of drama, too?

Those calls just don't strike me as legit. I'm not so sure BD wasn't "playing" the cops.
Interesting and could certainly explain BD's firm denial NOW that SA never threatened them.

After 30 years, I hope the LE and the public know much more about domestic abuse.
2 out of 3 women who are victims of violence are related to the attackers
39% of women who present to the ER are victims of abuse.
75% of the calls to LE for domestic abuse occur after the partners separate
50% of female homicides are related to domestic abuse and happen after separtion of the relationship.
Domestic abuse is not to be taken lightly by LE,ever. It is when women are more likely to be murdered.

I think the officer relayed the entire thing to me because he believed (and he was right) that I was in an abusive situation. Thanks for the statistics, but I am well aware of them. There is also elder abuse, kid on parent and women who beat men. I don't think LE (then or now) takes it lightly - it's just one of the more frustrating and difficult facets of their occupation. IMO & peace

When I interviewed Billie last week, she did tell me that Hailey had gotten a TV for her room for Christmas. She said Hailey was so excited about it too....she said alot of times before Hailey would just sleep on the couch, watching tv until she fell asleep.

That was not a good habit if SA was walking around the house at all hours of the night talking on the phone.....

Maybe having her own TV in her room....was what Hailey was so excited about in the FB message 3 days before Christmas....

She would finally be able to watch her own TV...With her Bedroom Door CLOSED!!!

DEAR GOD PLEASE BRING HAILEY HOME!!!

Glad you quit lurking and started posting because you have some valid points, the one I can understand is the one BBM - Knowing what we know now, I can fully understand HD running away in a T-shirt, blue sweatpants and flip flops and not taking a thing with her. If I were HD I would have got the flock out of there as fast as I could and I hope and pray this is what she did.

Thank you, that's all I meant, I meant for the best possible outcome we can hope for at this point.

Hello,
Yep,I've seen this myself when the same homes call over and over and over.Noone presses charges, kids are in the home and LE has to go everytime, but it's like,"Press charges already or seperate from one another." And the maddening thing is,people think there's an officer for every street, there's only a number of officers for a whole area and there's shifts. While they are having to deal with the same domestic mess, there is serious crime, accidents and other people who need the officer's attention. They know how it will end and what it will be about, but they have to go anyway.
This is why Memphis went to an "all fault" stance...if they get called out on a domestic dispute, both parties get hauled in. No playing reindeer games by calling the cops on each other, no "oh, I'm calmed down now, and we've made up kissy kissy" stuff. Unfortunately now many people who really need to call in do not because they don't want to get hauled in as well.

Honesty is always the best policy, whether dealing in your everyday life, in your job or whatever. But more importantly, honesty is VITAL when dealing in the case of a missing child.

Worrying about protecting one's personal reputation MUST take a backburner to worrying about the safety and well-being of a missing child. Truly, some folks may raise an eyebrow or make a comment if it is learned that the person divulging admits to drug use, or to having an affair, or whatever, BUT if they are being totally and completely honest about EVERYTHING, well, that is the bottom line.

I can only speak for myself, but I am sure that I am not alone here with my fellow websleuthers, in that I would rather have ALL the details, with all the ugliness that might entail, than to only be given snippets full of multiple inconsistencies. It adds credence to the source and helps us to stay focused on the big picture instead of having to pick through all of the lies and deception to search out the real facts.

In this case, Hailey is the "big picture." Billie, and anyone else who is only giving snippets of information laced with inconsistencies needs to "man up" and forget about what "Josie" at the checkout line, or "Roger" at the gas station is going to think of her.

She shouldn't give a flip about what Shawn thinks or that what she says might anger him. If he is truly uninvolved in Hailey's disappearance, he will understand the need for this mother to do whatever is necessary to find her daughter. And frankly, if he doesn't understand, that is HIS problem. (Personally, after what we have learned about Shawn, I wouldn't want anything more to do with him EVER even if he is proved to be totally innocent in Hailey's disappearance, but that is neither here nor there.)

Hailey is Billie's daughter; Billie MUST, for Hailey's sake be honest about absolutely everything. No one should have to question her to the point of having to "pull teeth" to get information out of her. She should be willingly offering any and every iota of information or data that she has--every single bit of it, tarnished or not.

Her daughter deserves that much from her.

I would never hope or advocate a 12 year old running away from home. I would think that would put them in a vulnerable position. I would advocate them using the resources at school , utilizing LE, or speaking to a trusted adult.

Under normal circumstances nor would I but this one is different. Resouces at school? HD had already lived with 4 families it seems in a years time. I would surmise HD has been around LE and those encounters didn't turn out well or make the homelife any better. I think when HD wrote the note to her teacher,"I Love You" she was reaching out but the message was unclear at the time to the teacher. HD informed her GrandMother about her fear of SA and GrandMother told her son but by CD own admission on NG last night he "Didn't want to hear it".This child did ask for help IMO but no one heard her.

I agree..just saying it does happen, unfortunately not all are as professional..but since it has NOTHING to do with Hailey's disappearance it was a mere observation, that's all..

bump.....

I have a terrible feeling that maybe some of the blow-ups in this twisted relationship had to do with SA's actions/intentions towards Hailey. Maybe BD initially resisted, but then gave up little by little over time. She chose one over the other and then all bets were off. If SA was doing anything to Hailey, or trying to groom her, it could have been going on for some time. She obviously was a very brave little girl. This is one creep who when he said, "if you tell your dad, I'll kill your family", you'd know it was true. She got out of that house and stayed with others whenever she could (til BD pulled her back in). She went to school and became a cheerleader; played in the band; told her teacher that she loved her everyday... It's too sad for words.

Hoping Hailey made a run for it, no time to grab anything, just got the heck outta dodge when SA showed up in the house in the wee hours of the morning and somehow found a safer haven. That hope is very dim right now, but there's still hope!

I understand and respect why it's important to sleuth every apsect of a case and the potential suspects (according to the guidelines). I've learned a lot from all of you in my first 2 weeks as a WS member. None of the sleuthing I've seen has been malicious or irrelevant, nor done out of morbid curiosity, imo. Rather, it has to be done because when we're afraid to look at what's right in front of us and dive deep into what we wish we didn't have to know, we miss the "motive". Unless you've got a confession or a videotape or irrefutable forensic evidence (DNA), figuring out the possible motives in a disappearance is often key to uncovering what really happened. That's what we all want; to find Hailey. Thankfully, there are great moderators here that keep it real for us when things start going a little too far astray!

Nite all - may tomorrow be the day that Hailey is found...

We are not discussing Billie's colorful past here. She is a mother whose daughter is missing. Please read Tricia's post.

We are not going to bash Cz or any other WS member. Knock it off now.

This post lands at random and is not about the post above it.

And WHAT THE HECK IS THE DEAL WITH SHAWN?

WHY WHY WHY????????????????

In the affidavits it says he admitted to it. If BD made it all up, you'd think he wouldn't admit it to LE.

It might if it was the same officer she spoke to when she reported HD missing. Could he have though Oh its only her again.

I agree. It may also be the reason LE thought Hailey was a run away.

I surely don't know - but I bet he's got some masks up for sale probably real cheap too.

(sorry I couldn't help it - I'll behave Kimmy - put that ray gun away)

LE pushed the media to release those tapes to put pressure on BD. I'm sure they provided them with these tapes for a specific purpose-- to get BD to a point where her stories begin to unravel into the truth.

I still believe BD is not involved in her baby's murder, but she is not an asset to the investigation. And she could be. They will need her on the stand to testify against SA.

Not involved, but possibky knows something. :waitasec:
During the NG show tonight, the red box at the bottom of the screen said--LE announced that Billie-Hailey's mother is not being truthful.

What gets me, is that she made the statement, Something was going to happen that would be remembered for a long time.. Was she quoting SA? IMO we do not know !
But that statement is in these records, and it might as well be a banner announcing something is coming down the pipe.....

You stinker.

I really think he has no regard for human life. I wonder if he could have possibly scared Hailey into leaving? But how could she stay away this long? I am still praying for a miracle here.

I'm wondering if he had been in a mental facility, what had happened and what age.A person isn't just labeled MHMR,a doctor would say it.So what is the past we haven't heard yet?

  • #279
I am going to call it a night.....

I have stayed up way tooooooo late the last few nights.

I better get off here before I say something that I will regret and end up with a TO!

Keep up the great sleuthing everyone...goodnight

DEAR GOD...PLEASE BRING DEAR HAILEY HOME TO THOSE THAT LOVE HER SO MUCH!

I wonder if she used MHMR just because she works in a hospital. Kind of like I use 5150 without even thinking about it (and often get confuzzled looks from friends when I do who have no idea what I'm talking about).
