Byerley characterized the 13-year-old as not getting along with her mother’s boyfriend, and Hailey herself as always wandering “here and there,” coming and going largely “as she pleases.”

Thats right TEH DB did who also has a not so clean slate..and it was just her who said anything like that. I have to wonder if she wasn't looking for her 15 minutes or not?

I am not saying BD is a perfect parent but I do beleive she was doing the best she could as a single mother who has a full time job.. I am fortunate enough to be a SAHM but even I could make a mistake or overlook something. Eventhough i would love to believe I wouldn't. I will say these cases open your eyes more than you realize.

They are under surveillance by LE,I imagine the FBI and Secret Service have some good equipment. NG knew they had food out and were drinking and why she kept causing BD to trip up upon questioning.Just like last night getting her to say she's been talking to SA after BD said she hadn't,then she said every couple of days,then she told some of what he was saying.

Plus when first asked if there were drinking,she said no,then question turned around,only SA had a few drinks,asked again and she said SA had a beer.Asking if they watched the ball drop,she said no,only watching news.

Where is BD complaining about NG?

What do we know really?? NO one has ever came out and said yeah they came and went as they pleased....are we assuming this to be the case??

Most teens are always on the go.

IIRC BD said she was irritated because HD didnt check with her first before going to MB for the night, Maybe she didnt call because she was irritated and didnt want to upset Hailey or maybe she didnt call to check on her because she had no reason to believe Haileys wasn't where she should have been

The sad part is we can pick apart and say I would have , She should have ect over lots of things but the truth is everyone lets thier gaurd down sometimes for instance how many people go grocery shopping and leave the child sitting in the cart while you are loading your groceries in the cart instead of putting your child in the vehicle first because groceries are replacable children are not...Simple things people every days dismiss and don't think about happen to even the best and MODEL parents.

Thanks!!!! This is exactly what I've been saying all along and this is the single biggest reason right here that Billie Jean Dunn has zero credibility with me period. You don't allow your 13-year-old daughter to have the run of the roads and not know where she's at, at all times. Heck, you don't let your 16-year-old son have the run of the roads and not know where he's at, at all times. Obviously she was very lacking in her maternal role and probably relished in the idea that it was just her and her boy toy for the nights that the kids were gone.

When did BD say she was irritated about Hailey not telling her she was going to spend the night?She told NG it's always like that,Hailey will leave a note or tell SA,she didn't think anything of it Hailey telling SA.
And did someone say the couch is gone that was there at the house?If so,when,because Hailey slept on the couch till about a week before Christmas,so BD said.

I still don't think Billie did anything to her daughter at all. I am surprised by her comments in that link. I was watching Nancy Grace the other night and the shrink talked about Billie being manipulated and controlled by Shawn. I have to wonder after that article if she was not spot on. I find that really weird that she did a 180 so fast. It just seems really off to me. I know she mentioned on the show a few times about a text here and there. Who knows if he's not doing it through text. Anyway I hope that Billie is OK and that is not happening to her. I think it is great she is finding some kind of hope. I'm glad she has Mark there helping her find the strength to get her out and do things.

As for her comments about Nancy Grace that shocked me a little bit too. I wonder where that is coming from? I don't think that Billie has watched Nancy Grace before other wise she'd know that is always what Nancy does. I do have to say though and I am not bashing anyone in particular or anyone at all but I really dislike it when parents, family members, or friends go onto Nancy Grace show and then speak out in the media against her. one would think they'd be grateful that she is getting their kids face out there in the MSM like that. If it was me I would never say anything against her. I would be happy she covered it. Also another thing is these people go on her show they know what they are getting into. You know what I mean? I am just saying they are putting themselves out there.

And why if Hailey was basically left to do what she wanted to, how did she know she needed to go to the police straight off the bat this time?

And, why also...did she not go straight to MB's house to see for herself?

There was a time when my DD was in HS --just starting to drive on her own in the evenings --and she was not home when she was supposed to be. I didn't call the cops first. First, I called her friend whose house she had been at to see what time she left. When ditzy friend (who lived about 20 minutes from us) said that she left 'a long time ago' (it was a foggy night and THIS mama was freaking out), I asked to speak to her mom for clarification. Turns out she had left about 15 minutes earlier, but was dropping another girl off on the way (against my rules to have other teenage passengers at the time...but we dealt with that once she was safe and sound at home).

It still makes no sense to me why she never went to MB's house to make sure that DD had the info right. No sense, whatsoever.

Unless, of course...she already knew.
