LOL.

I lived in Viginia until I was 5 then I went to live in Waco Texas. They stuck me in speach therapy. I left Texas years later and my Virginia school put me in Speach therapy again . I had to be broke in and broke out of the language.
Now I dont understnd what my dad is saying half the time, He is in DFW. He talks in circles too come to think of it.

I always say Texas is like a whole different country.

IMO, there are several areas of the US with different dialects and speech patterns, and Texas would be one of them. IMO, Maine is another one. I have been laughed at a few times when speaking in Maine, and on my side, there have been a few old-timer Maine types I have had to struggle to understand.

IMO, though, BD's and even PK's speech patterns are not really a Texas thing. I know a few people whose 'speech patterns' resemble this, and one of them is Florida born and bred.

respectfully snipped

I think Hailey also enjoyed being at her dad's house because of the new baby. I could see BD being resentful of that, especially if Hailey was growing close to NS, too. Today she mentioned that she cooked a small Christmas dinner for the four of them on Sunday. Apparently Hailey was not with them at all on Christmas Day, and their family dinner was put on the back burner (pun intended) until the day after Christmas even though CD lives just across the street. Couldn't Hailey have run home for an hour or so to have dinner with her mom and brother? Unless the spent the day off somewhere with CD's family. I don't know, but her message was loud and clear today, "look at CD!" That said, I don't think she suspects CD or NS any more than she suspects the "mystery guy" who allegedly threatened her. She knows the MG didn't take Hailey, and that's why she had no qualms about making a public announcement. JMO.

My daughter used to spend some Holidays with her Dad, and either Christmas or Thanksgiving each year she was with him. She had a feast with him and his GF. Living alone, I did not make a turkey or a ham just for myself. When she got home, I'd make a "Christmas Dinner" or "Thanksgiving Dinner" all over again. It might be a week later.

Even if my daughter was to come home the day of the Holiday, she would be stuffed from the meal with her Dad. The only way she could have gone home for Christmas dinner, imho, would be to skip dinner at Dad's. Or to pick at her food in both places.

Now my daughter spends most holidays with her boyfriend's family. He has a big family and she has just me, so I can see why she'd want the more chaotic, festive atmosphere of his home. But a few days later, when we can fit it around her work schedule and mine, we still do either a small turkey or a large chicken, with stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole.

The overall thing is still freaky,I wonder if LE checked to see if it was at his work.

Yes, I'm being nitpicky, maybe it's a TX thang.

Overalls are pants with an attached bib and straps that hook up in the front.
Coveralls are a one piece article of clothing that covers from the neck to the wrists to the ankles, generally with a zipper in the front.

My point is they are not the same thing.

So sorry I MENTIONED DD and was wondering about his whereabouts on the night of Dec. 27th. Please do not give me a Time Out. I will be heartbroken!

Is that off-limits now? It seems like it has been discussed a lot in earlier threads. I'm okay with it, just didn't realize the rules had changed.

"There's not a minute that goes by that I'm not praying for you or crying, wishing you were in my living room," she said.
http://bigcountryhomepage.com/fulltext/?nxd_id=336996

ok...it's late and I'm probably overanalyzing...but could this statement be a freudian slip that whatever happened did NOT happen in the living room....because when Hailey slept on the couch in the living room she was safe...but once she stopped sleeping on the couch she wasn't safe anymore? (all IMO)

IMO, this is getting old. Billie has been cleared by LE, yet speculation continues as to her possible involvement as an accessory. She may be deluded to believe Shawn is innocent, or she may really know him better than we all think. But in no way do I feel she was involved, before, during, or after the fact, and that she truly has no knowledge of what happened to Hailey or where she might be found.

wait a sec:waitasec:
according to Belimom's excellent transcription, BD was ready to notify LE that Hailey was missing before SA was even aware of any of this?
Now why would you NOT contact EVERYONE who lives in the home to question the whereabouts of someone from that house? Isn't that the first rule of missing person investigating?
snipped from transcription:
After telling Clint how worried I was, I told him I was going to get a ride home and report Hailey missing to the police. I asked him to call the PD and let them know that I was coming. He agreed to make the call but for some reason he never did. My sister-in-law gave me a ride home from Snyder to CCity. I stopped at the house first to make sure Hailey hadn’t come back home. Grabbed my cell phone, started texting Hailey’s friends while my sister-in-law took me around to a couple of their houses before going to the police station. I got home from the police station around 3:00. Shawn called me on my cell and talked to David who told him what all was going on. So Shawn left and got the house around 4:00, with me and David

Billie probably thought Shawn was working and did not want to call up there. He probably didn't get off of work till later.

bbm

But, if you can't find your child based upon where the last person who saw her told you she was going, wouldn't you want to call that person who saw your daughter to make sure you got it right before calling the police?

ETA: To give BD the benefit of the doubt, we don't know that she didn't call SA. She sure seems to have gone over and beyond to report her every phone call, etc, so we're assuming that b/c she didn't discuss it that it means she didn't call. (which is how I interpret it myself) But, we still don't know that's the 100% truth. At this point, the only truth is Hailey is missing. :(

on the first photo that redcat just posted, does it look like cardboard instead of a window in the door to anyone else?

I zoomed in on Redcat's photo. It's definitely a piece of glass with tape on it (I think there's cardboard behind it, for insulation against the cold). I personally think the affidavit of DD entering through a window and DD unlocking the door through the broken window are the same thing.

Is it just me or was the use of "dark boy" to describe the little boy a HORRIBLE choice of words?

As the mother of a racially mixed child, it doesn't offend me at all. There is nothing wrong with having dark skin, so why would I be offended?

I know the difference between overalls and coveralls, but she called them overalls and I doubt he had farmer overalls for work. Some people call coveralls overalls.I'm well familiar with overalls, that's all my grandfather ever wore. :)

In spite of this case, the more I hear about Texas, the more I think I would like it.

Would love to hear the back story on this broken window. There has to be one. Why would BD feel the need to include the fact that the window DD crawled through was broken and by Hailey, no less.

I think it was part of "humanizing Hailey". People sort of smile a little about Hailey being a bit of a tomboy who accidentally broke a window with a ball. It tells you something about the kind of girl she was.

I bet Billie would LOVE to have Hailey back home breaking more windows. :)

a broken window? so far we've found 2. No, make that 3. The door, Hatcher saw the one on the left of the door, and in the picture you can see wood covering one on the right of the door

From looking at the house, I think BD was struggling to provide for her family and could not afford to fix things that those of us with more income would fix right away. If you go to Google street view and "walk" up and down several streets, you'll find that BD's house doesn't really differ from many other houses in the area. Maybe she could afford to fix the windows and chose to spend the money elsewhere. But with a stark contrast between the two sides of my own families - one quite well off and the other getting food stamps - I'm very familiar with relatives who are scraping by and happy to have a roof over their head. So I personally can't speculate about the number of broken windows, etc.

JMHO

(And, my brothers and myself broke many of our windows growing up - bb guns, basketballs, tennis balls, rocks. Thankfully my parents could afford to fix them right away)

The $140 spent on illegal narcotics the night before would have easily repaired a broken door glass with plenty to spare.

Bolded by me~~~

Actually, she says on HER timeline that she SAW Hailey in her bed on Monday morning.

This is contrary to what she told Nancy Grace, and contrary to every report that I have seen thus far.

I think originally, she was allowing for that 0.001% possibility that it had not been Hailey in the bed and did not want to be called a liar by insisting it was. But until she was asked by Nancy, she WAS sure enough that it was Hailey. Now that she is not involved in that three-ring-circus, she has thought it through and decided that 99.999% sure is sure enough, and that she would never have doubted that it was Hailey except for being put on the spot like that and knowing people already thought she was prevaricating.

If that is the case, why say SA was a good employee and that he wasn't fired? He could have said he could not comment.

He said SA was a good employee and was not fired. He said SA walked in, got a soda, stared at him a second and walked out. Then did not come back. Ever. So he wasn't "FIRED", but that sounds a lot like he "QUIT" to me (without giving notice).

  • #718
Note that BD did not say why SA quit his job. Don't know about Texas, but here in Cali people are having trouble even finding one! He knew she would be mad, so he did not tell her until Wednesday ... And she is still "friendly" with him why?

My daughter and her boyfriend have each lost a job in the past 14 months that they did not tell their parent's about for weeks, even months, in spite of living at home. They just went out someplace, said they worked a day shift while the parent was working, or just stayed at each other's house so the folks would not notice... They both knew their respective parents would be mad that they had screwed up and lost a job in this economy.

We were upset with them for a while, but got over it, even before each of them found a new job. This week, my daughter was fired again. She called before she even left work to tell me, so we are making progress.

Yes, and it being right at Christmas, everyone is "Broke" not to mention the fact if one doesn' know how to replace a window and has to call a repair man out, it is expensive. Thank goodness through 3 kids my DH knew how to change out the window panes, along with some of our neighbors windows too.

From the press conference:

I was kind of upset that Hailey hadn’t called me, and confirmed that Shawn had let me know that she was staying the night with a friend, but I wasn’t worried about her.

Wut? :waitasec: How could Hailey have confirmed what Shawn told Billie? Billie said when Shawn called her, and she asked about the kids, that Shawn told her Hailey had left. Hailey couldn't possibly confirm that Shawn had told her that. But I'll bet she's upset nobody can.
