MCSO searching for Odessa missing person

The Midland County Sheriff’s Office has posted a missing persons bulletin on Hamil Cody Ross.

•On Nov. 9 at about 2 a.m., Ross walked away from his job location
•An eyewitness reported that Ross arrived at the witness’ residence and borrowed their phone to try and call someone.
•The Midland County Sheriff’s Office said they were not contacted until Nov. 19 about the case.
•Eyewitnesses said they saw Ross later on the day he went missing going toward Midland, but that was the last information they received.

I wonder if anyone has checked the Salvation Army housing, or checked video from that day at the Pilot or other truck stops.

Arent there numerous cases of people missing off of “oil roads” or some remote roads in TX? I feel like I’ve heard of a few, like a young woman who thought someone was following her, an older lady, etc.

Yes, there are several from this area. Look at the Brandon Lawson case! He was an oilfield worker who went missing also very mysteriously. (Not while working tho).
He had a warrant out for his arrest and a lot of people thought he could be running also. He just disappeared after running out of gas and calling 911 that someone was chasing him!

Oilfield crews ride together to the rig, so I feel there were several in the vehicle (usually a company pick up). Also, I would think the company would be liable for his safety to and from the job since his boss was driving. The oilfield doesn't employ the most lawful bunch of people.......no offense to anyone working the oilfields. It is hard, dirty work but pays well.

I am very concerned about the story from the boss.....it sure doesn't ring right to me. You don't just leave someone on the side of the road.

Also, one crew relieves another crew, so the relief crew should have come back past him when they came back (unless they were on the wrong road I guess).

I was thinking perhaps he had those clothes on under his FRC coveralls. But the sweatshirt would be too bulky. FRC jeans maybe. But definitely not sneakers/tennis shoes.
Lots of guys wear street clothes and don't get their PPE on until they get to location. It keeps from getting grease inside truck.

Also, as far as shoes, you can get steel toes in tennis shoes. Now, I know my husband cannot wear them unless they are so many inches above his ankle, but if we could find a pair of high top tennis shoes with steel toes, they would work. (Not that he would wear them...)

So did he walk away from the job site or did he disappear after getting out a truck while the boss was on the phone?
Would a boss “be lost” at the job site (that doesn’t make sense to me)?
But with there being a witness, then at least we know he was ok at that point, but where’d he go from there? What time was it when he made it to the witness house? Asking because I’d be leery to let someone in or let use the phone around 2 or so in the morning.

Who's the witness? Was he familiar with Hamil? Is it not possible he is mistaken about identity? Is there any connection between the witness and Hamil or the crew? Who did he try to call and when he left the witnesses house was it by car or on foot?

I have the same questions!
Also, if he used another person’s phone to try & make a call, can’t they check to see what number was dialed and also who’s number it belonged to?

My thoughts too! From reading comments on social media there are way to many stories floating around for me have any real strong feeling or understanding of what exactly happened.

On social media the family members have identified themselves. They have answered these questions. It still is unclear what/where/when/how of him missing. If it was intentional, then it's a pretty odd way of accomplishing that goal.

Answered which questions? I haven't seen it directly confirmed or where it's been answered who the witnesses are, who he tried to call, if he reached them, his state of mind when he left, how he left nor which direction he headed in? I'm wondering who his girlfriend is, where she currently is and if she has been questioned about the situation?

Could it be that multiple stories or at least pieces of them are true? I've always believed that most lies have a piece of the truth in them, it just might be a bit mixed up. Could they have stopped at a rest stop/pull off, boss got out to make a call for better directions, Hamil gets out saying he has to relieve himself and when it's time to leave, he's no where to be found? Most the guys who work together are pretty close. Maybe they were aware something wasn't right with him, or he was upset about something. So, after not finding him but needing to get moving on to the job site, they decide to send his family the location they last saw him at and keep going? I feel like it makes more sense then the boss driving off not realizing until they reach the job site he's gone missing and then just calling his family and telling them, oh btw, here's the gps coordinates for where we last saw Hamil, no idea how we lost him but good luck!

I think it is possible that Hamil was talking to someone on his phone, possibly arguing with his girlfriend for example. And maybe she said she was coming to pick him up?
Could she have had findmyphone app for his number, assuring him she was coming to get him to take him home?

So he walks away voluntarily, expecting a ride. When that doesn't happen---maybe his phone dies?---he looks for someone who has a phone he can use to make a call?

He becomes stranded and then what?

I haven't heard much about or from his girlfriend. Anyone know, has his girlfriend been questioned or spoken publicly? Maybe he walked expected to meet her, got lost and fell victim to the elements and/or land.
