Oh my gosh. That's so sad.

Wow, how terrible. This link has some additional details, but not all that much.

Family of 6 found dead in Far North Side home

--

McManus said police were called at 10:30 a.m. for a welfare check of the husband, who was working from home, when he didn’t check in with his place of employment.

“They were OK yesterday because he checked in with his work,” McManus said. “So it happened sometime overnight.”

snip

McManus said the family was found in the back of a small SUV, investigators said.

snip

Police said they have only been called to the home, which the family had rented since January, once in the last six months.

--

BBM. Only called to the home once in the 6 months they've lived there? Maybe it's just awkward phrasing, but "only" once? How many times do people typically have police called to their homes in a 6 month period?

It truly is. Sadly, it seems to be so commonplace for LE to be called during DV occurrences that only one call implies somehow that's a good thing when in truth one call is unacceptable.

My hubby, and I have been married for 36 years, and have never had a reason to call to police for anything much less a DV incident. None of our family members, and friends have either. So while it may common for many it still isnt for millions of law abiding people....thank goodness.

Imo, if these cities, and states 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 or do away with their police departments then DV will skyrocket to even worse proportions than it is now.

The DV abusers, both men, and women will know they can do whatever they want ...including abuse of children which already happens far too often.

The last stats I read stated over a million females every year call 911 to report DV, and almost a million males call 911 to report DV done to them by their female partners.

Unless some of the children are multiples (meaning twins or triplets), the mom was pretty much constantly pregnant for 4 years straight. I wonder if she suffered from PPD. Perhaps he suffered from PTSD. Idk, I am just throwing out ideas to try to make any sort of sense out of this.

My initial reaction is that both parents agreed to this. Them all being in the back seat together, the cats in a basket together in the front seat, the initial report saying it was a suicide instead of saying murder-suicide (which obviously no matter what it is a murder suicide because of the kids but the word choice stuck out to me), etc.

I don't see why people do this. Why? Why do you need to take your innocent children and innocent pets with you? Heartbreaking.

Agree. That was an odd statement.

It is really horrible. I also wonder if it was a pact between mom and dad. I’m sure more details will come out.

The wording of “suicide” instead of “murder/suicide” stuck out to me too. They said that again this morning on the local news. Also if they all died of carbon monoxide and not something else first, it seems it would be hard for only one of them to get everyone in the car and stay there. :(

But then the cryptic message on the door and putting the cats in a basket in the car is just so weird for two people to do. Seems like a mental health crisis, but BOTH of them? You would think one would be the rational one.

So awful. With the police being called before I still think it could be DV and one parent dominating the others (maybe w/a gun?) to get in the car. I just can’t imagine two parents agreeing to this. Those poor babies (and cats). :(:(:(

Imo, tragically due to the virus, millions out of work, and knowing cities are in total chaos, imo, there will be an uptick in murder/suicides, suicide pacts, murders, suicides, and other violent crimes overall.

Imo, the lawless will become even more lawless.

I agree. It was even mentioned that the husband was working from home. A family with four tiny kids all stuck in the home together for months, possible DV problems already, is a recipe for disaster. Child abuse and DV is probably going on at alarming rates, completely unchecked.

What we know about the family of 6 found dead at a home in San Antonio

New article with only a couple of new points. The man was in the military. Also it was clarified that the chief said police had only been to the area once, not the home (for children playing in street & unclear whose children).

McManus said police had only been to the area once in the past, and it was for kids playing in the street. He didn’t specify if those kids were with the family.

Neighbors heartbroken about news of Stone Oak family’s deaths
Neighbors heartbroken about news of Stone Oak family’s deaths
Now this article has been updated to say

Police believe for at least one of the family members, the death was a suicide.

Leads me to believe their wording earlier didn’t mean as much as it could have. I lean toward m/s with one parent killing the other family members and pets. I just can’t believe two people could agree to something so horrible. Not that it hasn’t happened before though.... So sad.

I agree that it’s most likely murder suicide at the hands of the father. JMO very unlikely to be a joint pact and even then if 2 adults decided to do it it’s not really satisfactory to describe the death of minors as a voluntary act of suicide is it?

Maybe it doesn't matter, but from link above) military intelligence caught my eye. Terribly, terribly sad.

“A U.S. Army soldier assigned to the 470th Military Intelligence Brigade, Joint Base San Antonio - Fort Sam Houston, was found deceased in his home in San Antonio, June 4. Our hearts and prayers go out to the families of the deceased. Additional information will be released pending next of kin notification. The case is currently under investigation by the San Antonio Police Department and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command.”

Children are not an extension of yourself. They are independent beings. Prayers to all responders. This is not one that you forget and it brings up past bad scenes. I hope they all get the care they need here.

the cats were in the vehicle but the note said the pets were in the freezer ... so was there more pets inside?

I agree. I predicted in March with the lockdowns and people losing their jobs that suicides and violent acts would be on the increase. JMO.
