GUILTY TX - Haruka Weiser, 18, found murdered, UT-Austin campus, 3 April 2016 *Arrest*

Yep Bootsctr, it seems that there is a monster under everyone's bed these days.. At a symposium 09/02/2005, the FBI BAU-2 redefined serial murderer/killer to the unlawful killing of two or more victims by the same offender(s), in separate events. This would indicate that the FBI's prior estimate that there is 2 serial killers active at anytime in the US is obsolete, imo. My greatest concern as it relates to this case is that Criner's motive is sexual and that he passed the threshold from fantasy to tragic reality around the age of fourteen.. Imo, he likely has taken the lives of other innocent victims in the past. jmo

You may be onto something. I wonder if there are unsolved cases closer to where he lived with his grandmother.

Does anyone know much about K2? I have only seen news reports when it first started coming out.

Rapists generally wear sweatpants or elastic banded pants over jeans because they are easy to pull down.

Thank you. I was not aware of the significance of sweatpants. :(

Hook'em horns! My son wanted to go to UT. Orange was his favorite color from a very young age. I never got it until he was gone, and going through his clothes saying to myself "he really liked orange." My niece and her husband are Aggies! God Bless their little hearts. Very proud of her! She's still going to school! Wants to be a school administrator. My heart :heartbeat: beats for the Horns 4ever.

I'm thinking the motive in this case is that he wanted to kill someone, and Haruka was in the wrong place at the wrong time. If it hadn't been her, it would've been another woman. I think we sometimes want to assign a motive to these cases that makes (some) sense but I don't think there was one in this case. I don't think it was robbery, for her shoes or drug money, I don't think it's because Haruka rejected him or because he was jealous of her.

He's 17. He was caught very shortly after murdering Haruka. He was caught on video. He tried burning the evidence. He made little attempt to hide the body. They even found some of Haruka's belongings on him. I really doubt he is a budding serial kiler.

One thing I want to mention before I forget, is the article about him being bullied growing up. He says it's because of his thick African accent and his peers could not understand him when he spoke. I would think this accent would be hard to get rid of, and would be noticeable to a victim if he spoke during the attack. Just something to think about....

Do you think he could have been stalking her? It does seem too random for that and I am probably personalizing Haruka's death too much, but I am wondering.

I am curious about his accent. I wonder when he went to live with his grandmother. No one has said anything about him being an immigrant so this is curious.

If he was stalking her, I think the time from when he first spotted her to when he ambushed her was very short. I don't think this is a case of a long-term stalker.

My son was on it. He's dead now. Busted into our bedroom right after midnight that night. An argument ensued because he had just totaled his 3rd vehicle in about 5 years (actually this was his girlfriend's vehicle). We didn't realize the severity of the crash until we saw the vehicle. We don't know how he was able to make it home. Maybe the K2, I don't know. He started beating the $hi+ out of his dad, kicking his dad with his steel-toed boots with some kind of high kick with one leg (with one leg broken from the crash we were told), a .38 was drawn. He was told to leave the bedroom. Jumped his dad in the hallway. Gun went off. They said he died in surgery. I think the drugs in his system probably contributed to him dying. Will be 5 years this July. K2 - It's bad. It's evil.

Several students and faculty members tell KXAN he was a student at Ellison High School in Killeen and he walked out of school around two weeks ago.

Killeen police say someone filed a missing person report on Mar. 24.

wow! i live about 30 miles from killeen. thats a shock! if he was at school 2 weeks ago, could he not have been the rapist?

Synthetic Cannabinoids (K2/Spice)

Synthetic cannabinoids refer to a growing number of man-made mind-altering chemicals that are either sprayed on dried, shredded plant material so they can be smoked (herbal incense) or sold as liquids to be vaporized and inhaled in e-cigarettes and other devices (liquid incense).
