Workers find decomposed body in NE Houston field

Workers from a construction company discovered a decomposing body Wednesday while clearing a field in northeast Houston, authorities said.
The nude body was found face-down about 2 p.m. in a wooded area near a cellular telephone tower along the 7500 block of Tremont near Ley, Houston police said.

"There's no way of telling right now what the cause of death is going to be," said Sgt. David Ferguson, of the Houston Police Department's homicide division.

The body had been there at least two or three days before being found. Police didn't know if it was a man or woman. An autopsy is planned.
Police said the body might have been dumped at the site.

A decomposed nude body found Wednesday in a northeast Houston field is a woman, Houston police said today.

The Harris County Medical Examiner's Office is determining the woman's identity and cause of death.

Investigators were not able to determine if the woman had any wounds due to the advanced stage of decomposition.

Description: Workers from a construction company discovered Johnson's decomposing body on May 21 while clearing a field in northeast Houston, authorities said.

The nude body was found face-down about 2 p.m. in a wooded area near a cellular telephone tower along the 7500 block of Tremont near Ley, Houston police said.

An autopsy revealed that Johnson had suffered wounds on her upper torso, police said in a May 29 statement. Her body was so decomposed that investigators could not tell what caused the wounds.

Police said she may have been killed at another location and her body dumped at the site.
