Juan Choc does have resemblance. He's missing from Brownsville since July 2021.
I dunno about the haircut thing, if he was a runaway. But then again, he could simply have family in Houston and could have been staying with them. Hence, the haircut etc.

I find Juan likely to be our doe, he has very similar features.

The shaved star on the side of his head suggests either Houston Astros or Dallas Cowboys fan to me. Looks more like the Cowboy star actually.

The decedents stature and facial characteristics suggest (to me) lineage from Mexico's Yucatan peninsula. In other words, he looks Mayan to me.
Amateur opinion and speculation

I'd bet a dollar to a dime that the star has nothing to do with football, but is instead a gang symbol....maybe Latin Kings, who are known to use a 5-pointed star as a symbol.

I do agree that he looks Mayan, though. I'd be quite surprised if he wasn't.

I was poking around FB and there are "Chocs" from Guatemala City. It seems like many of them last posted their profile pics in Mid-2018 and stopped posting afterward.
Makes me think they may have put their pics on for safe keeping and then maybe taken a journey and decided to avoid social media afterward.

I personally don't think the star is gang related. It's a "thing", but probably not gang related. We have something called the Edgar haircut here. It's not gang, but it's often associated with teens who get in trouble. Seen on a few mugshots, but the crimes are usually not serious and well sometimes plain old stupid. It's pretty much a running meme around here.
The Edgar haircut is the same class as a mullet. AKA Joe Dirt and the Tiger King.
I put our UID's haircut in the same "crime" category as a mullet or Edgar hair cut, which really is pretty much just a meme.

I brought up Peralta in post #18, his NCMEC page also includes a slightly clearer post with some better lighting.

I remember looking between this pic and the post-mortem for a long time, and I thought they really did look similar, but not enough that I got excited and called it in. I think face shape, eyebrows, and lips are very similar. Nose bridge looks a little different but it may be lighting. Ear shape is also different but I have to remember that the post-mortem is done with a close-up, kind of fish-eye lense type effect.
In this pic he's got curly hair but this UID has very straight hair, but I don't think that means anything because perms for guys are very 'in' right now.

If anyone wants to submit Junior Peralta that would be great! As time goes on and this case stalls, I think he's a better and better facial match. I submitted that first guy through namus contacts, and still haven't heard anything back yet... I think a phone call through NCMEC might work better. (sorry for being lazy and not doing it myself but I'm out of Canada and I'm scared of long distance charges lmao)

Nery Sis Chen - DLC Jul 2021, from Brownsville TX. 16, 5'0, 110lbs. I swear to god he's only been added recently because I would have brought him up if I'd seen him before! I think he's a pretty good facial match... looking at nose shape, his Cupid's Bow, and his ear shape. Even his hairline is similar, and he has shorter hair (though not as drastically as our UID) on the sides. (bigger photo)

Rene Renteria - DLC Jan 5 2022 (5 days prior to finding UID) from Fort Worth TX. 16 y/o, 5'3", 110lbs. I also think he's a decent facial match, but I think my brain's getting caught up on his bowlcut. I wonder what haircut the UID had?? We know it was longer on top and in photos (while he's lying down) it splays outwards, but in life did he style it like that or did it flop downwards over his forehead?

Luis Reyes has a 2-day discrepancy, but I was still eyeing him... I think his eyebrows are too thick to be this UID, though. He's also a bit too tall and heavy. Also looking at Ivan Riojas but again, eyebrows and demographics are different (other places he's listed as 5'6" 160lbs).

Hmmm..sounds like a brother filed a lawsuit for behalf of jaime danil sacpun-az in a Harris County District Court. Looks like he sued a wireless carrier in Mexico. Maybe he's looking for his brother, but wouldn't that need to be filed in federal court? Maybe he's suing for some other reason? Either way, wouldn't he need to file in federal court?
Suit filed in October, Jaime last seen in August. Jaime is from Guatemala.
(I did a NAMUS search and many of the boys missing from 2021-2022 are from Guatemala BTW)
