Something of note with this one is that the Doe Network listed his case as resolved in 2019 and added him back earlier this year in 2025 under his original case number with them. I don't believe his NamUs profile has ever gone down, so I have no clue why this occurred, but he is still unidentified.
The original Doe Network entry can be seen here; The Doe Network: Case File 1218UMTX

I'm looking for any original newspapers or other records linked to this man. I found a comment on Facebook from somebody who said they found some original police records clarifying the specific circumstances and his relationship with the other victim, Francisco Lopez (obviously not going to link to an unreliable source, but it doesn't seem like they were companions at all and this event was more of a random mass-shooting type incident or targeted attack against somebody else).

I couldn't find what original report this person on Facebook was talking about and had no luck searching the free online newspaper archival resources I know about and have access to. Any assistance is appreciated.

The address listed is different but I believe it's the same victim.

ETA: Didn't see there were two different addresses mentioned in the article. So one is the same listed in NamUs.

Thank you so much! This info in the newspapers basically perfectly lines up with what was said in the Facebook comment.

The exact text was; "I have obtained more information from archived medical examiner documents. The shooting occurred at a restaurant. Francisco was a bus boy working his shift. At about 7:45, a man entered and started shooting, both the victims were killed."

I'm not sure if this was from the same archived website I linked and I just missed something.

Where did you get this photo from?

He looks African to me. Afro-Caribbean or Afro-Latin. Of course both ethnicities include Mexico, but he doesn't look the "typical" Indigenous Mexican descendent or Mestizo.

Archived link to Harris County UID search where I found the PM picture (you have to scroll towards the bottom in order to see the people from the 1980s and earlier, and the archived version of the website auto scrolls upwards for some reason, so it might take a while to find him); Harris County - Institute of Forensic Sciences - Unidentified Decedent Fliers

I think the person got the info from this site: https://[link removed]/wiki/Harris_County_John_Doe_(December_12,_1980)

I'm not sure why it says "link removed". Probably a source not allowed on WS?!

Yeah, Fandom links get censored by the automated filter. I’m not sure why; it’s built on the same software as Wikipedia, was made by the main founder of Wikipedia, and has about the same amount of content regulation, and Wikipedia links work fine.

I’d assume that’s not the source of the info though because the comment was made three years ago and this was the most recent revision of the page you tried to link at that time. There’s no mention of any of those specific details and the only sources are NamUs and Doe Network. It looks different now because somebody went and updated it earlier today (probably after reading our conversation).
