Info from the Texas prison museum says the rodeo was every Sunday in October except in 1943 and again in 1955. What day was Halloween in 1980?

Friday

Friday 31 October 1980, Halloween

It was Friday, under the sign of Scorpio. The US president was Jimmy Carter (Democratic). Famous people born on this day include Eddie Kaye Thomas and Alondra de la Parra Mexican founder and artistic director of the New York. In that special week of October people in US were listening to Woman In Love by Barbra Streisand. In UK Don't Stand So Close To Me by The Police was in the top 5 hits. Oh, God! Book II, directed by Gilbert Cates, was one of the most viewed movies released in 1980 while The Key To Rebecca by Ken Follett was one of the best selling books. On TV people were watching Le temps d'une paix. If you liked videogames you were probably playing Astro Invader or Tank Battalion.

Ok so if the 31st was Friday, there would have been no rodeo that Sunday. Interesting idea tho.

Anyone think there's any significance to the holiday date (i.e. halloween)?

Don't know, but 1 year later "Orange Socks" is found discarded along I-35.

Since someone is going to say it, Orange Socks was murdered a year before Walker County Jane Doe.

Yes, she was. And it's driving me crazy that we have no idea who she is, either. Bless her soul, I hope we can give her her name back. I wish this for all of our Does.

If we could get DNA from every family that had a missing daughter around WCJD's time but didn't report it would help. I hate that we can't for the same reason that i hate that loved ones can after their death overrule a person's wish to donate their organs.

I know this has been shared before. There is just something about this photo that says, "Look at me, I was here!"

The picture in question:

There is a necklace there. Whatever is on the end is hidden.

And the DOE reconstruction:

I've inverted the image to make it easier to compare to the reconstructions.

They're not. The girl in the green shirt is the sister of the guy who contacted me about the photo.

That was my thinking too, but I know they are not..."kathy" was a girl the little one met during a trip.

Wow, you're right, I didn't notice the resemblance the first time it was posted. But they really are similar, aren't they? Is that a common "look" in that part of Texas?

Wow the resemblance blows me away. I feel like I can even see the scar on the right eyebrow. Maybe it's just the graininess of the picture, but I see something there!

Is the hotel this photo was taken at still standing? If so, has there been any follow up with the management regarding records? Given that I'm personally convinced (and many others) that Kathy/Cathy is our girl, I would imagine it'd be worth a shot finding out and perhaps tracing the guests who lodged at the hotel during the time period Cathy/Katy was there.

That's a great idea, I am not familiar enough with this case to know the answer.

They spent several hours going from town to town in Google Maps trying to pinpoint the motel. They said that the Esquire Inn in Beeville looked alot like the motel, but they are still not 100% sure the Motel was in Beeville. They stayed in dozens of motels during those years. They initially thought it was Richmond, but their mother said that she used a Poloroid camera during the time when they were in Richmond. They also said it might have been in Madisonville (north of Huntsville). The Western Lodge in Madisonville also has a similar layout to the drawing that he showed me. They have an older brother who was about 17 at the time, and they have left him a message. Perhaps he can clarify, but he hasn't responded yet.

I think this is the most recent post about the motel, it seems like it's not established which motel it even was, let alone if the motel is still there.

I think it's worth a shot contacting the Esquire Inn and the Western Lodge. It never hurts to inquire. Has the older brother contacted anyone yet?
