I have the impression that an accident happened to him... if his foot was injured and he was also missing fingers, perhaps he tripped somewhere and hit his head or it could be that someone robbed him and seeing his disability they left him alone. his luck and he couldn't give notice or save himself... but why did he go to his sister-in-law's house every beginning of the month? Were they close or was his wife or girlfriend there too? Or maybe he rented her a house, apartment or room and was going to pay her rent?
