When I read the article and snipped it, I assumed that the perp's last name was Wood. It is not. The perp is Jacob West.

So, I went back to the article, it lists the perp as West but then has the line about Wood's record.

Is this shoddy reporting or an irresponsible writer/editor???
Reporters want to be the first to break the information, and in that, they seem to lose most of their credibility.

My apologies. I don't know who the heck Wood is. I don't know if the reporter meant West. At this point, they may have researched some other's records.

I think this might be him. He was in federal prison. IIRC, Harris County isn't free with their court records either. Also if you search his name there's a ironworkers forum mentioning him.

the Amber Alert was active as of 6:30 pm local time. I live in Houston and I saw the freeway sign on my way home from work. I did see a news story saying that it was cancelled though. This is very sad.

No Stone Unturned posted this missing facebook link. They say it isn't cancelled unless you go to the Amber Alert site and it says cancelled. It's active from what I see. Other comments also say they have seen updates on the alert too.

Ah in the time it took me to find that out.. I'm actually starting to wonder what the point of the Amber Alert system is..

Like any alert system, I guess it has to have a 'definition'...

Otherwise it would lose the 'alert' status and significance...

However, no reason that media can't continue the focus...or LE for that matter...

It was cancelled, not sure if they removed their comments however I'm very glad to see its back on. Now, if they could just get a pic of this guy so they know who they're looking for. ugh!
