Around 40 volunteers came together Saturday to help search for James David Blount, a 57-year-old Cherokee County man who went missing Dec. 2.

James Blount, who goes by David, was last heard from and seen December 2, 2025. On Saturday Dec 6, he was reported to law enforcement as missing. His vehicle keys, cell phone, and wallet were located inside his residence. David along with his dog were not located in the residence. Later in the evening on the 6th, his red Chevrolet truck was located next to the Neches River on Highway 84 in Cherokee County.

His family last spoke with him on the telephone on 11/30/2025. Prior to his disappearance, a witness reports seeing David, Misty, and Kayla in a disagreement in front of the home while David was on the phone. On Saturday Dec 6, he was reported to law enforcement as missing. His vehicle keys, cell phone, and wallet were located inside his residence. A witness reported seeing his truck on 12/2/2025 and throughout the week until it was found on 12/6/2025. Law Enforcement reported seeing his vehicle at the river on 12/6/2025.

According to Google, there's a bridge on Hwy. 85 that crosses the Neches River, and from images I found online, this is a big river with a significant drop from the bridge. I hope this isn't an indication that Mr. Blount has done himself harm. I've read that this river has swift currents and poor visibility, and based on several news articles, these factors have confounded search attempts for past MPs.

Also, I noticed that his vehicle keys were found in his residence. If that's the case, I wonder if anyone knows whether he had another set of keys. (Otherwise, how did the vehicle get to where it was found parked?)

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Texas Rangers, HEAL Corp, ALERT Academy and Houston County Search and Rescue are conducting another search for Rusk missing man James David Blount.

The sheriff’s office is searching the woods behind Blount’s house and workshop on Highway 84. Officials are searching this area more thoroughly on Friday and Saturday in order to rule out the area immediately surrounding Blount’s home.

Cherokee County Sheriff Brent Dickson told KETK News that “a bunch of different stuff” was found during their search but they can’t say whether any of the items are actually related to Blount’s disappearance. Dickson added that they’re looking into all of the things they’ve found during their continuing search.

This sounds bad. A similar case happened near me and the people involved were soon caught. I hope that’s the case here and they can get one of the people involved to talk. Anytime a crime involves more than one person it is almost inevitable that one will talk.
