Doc. 31 at 1. The Court granted the motion and continued the trial setting to February 28, 2022. See Doc. 32 . More than 90 days have passed without plea papers being filed, and the trial is rapidly approaching. "Next week, Jennifer Lynne Faith, 49, plans to voluntarily waive her rights as a defendant and plead guilty to the murder-for-hire charge, the agreement said. She will also have to give information and testimony about her involvement in her husband's death, according to the document, obtained by WFAA.

After talking to her lawyers, "Faith has concluded that it is in her best interest to enter into this plea agreement and all its terms, rather than to proceed to trial in this case," the document said...."

The Govt is recommending life in prison so there's no parole here. She is not a sympathetic defendant whatsoever and I think the death penalty was being considered here. I'll try to add more details from the resume entered today later -- it's not pretty what she confessed to.

How will this affect the case against her co-conspirator? Will the plea agreement contain a requirement for her to testify against him? Beyond the statement she will be making, I mean.

The Plea Agreement entered in the record on 1/26/22 consists of 13 Articles typical of an agreement of this nature:

Although Article 7 - Defendant's Agreement provides the defendant ...shall give complete and truthful information and/or testimony concerning her participation in the offenses of conviction..., and Article 8 - Government's Agreement includes that the Government agrees not to bring any additional charges against the defendant, the Plea Agreement itself does not specifically stipulate that the defendant shall testify against her co-conspirator, DL.

IMO, the reasons are probably two-fold -- 1)the constitution protects the defendant from incriminating themselves, and 2)double jeopardy does not apply.

In other words, JLF has been charged in US District Court under federal statutes and this agreement does not extend to any charges that may be brought against the defendant at the state level.

Last October, the parties filed a Joint Motion to Continue this case, and the court granted the Motion to Continue, ordering the Jury Trial set for 2/28/22.

At the time the joint motion was filed, the parties also informed the court that a tentative plea agreement had been reached, and the plea agreement was subject to the approval of the Attorney General. There was no notice in the Docket of the plea agreement until both the actual Plea Agreement and the Factual Resume of JLF were entered with the court on 1/26/2022. IMO, JLF is one of the cruelest and disturbed predators I've read about. Her Factual Resume is not intended to be a complete accounting of all the events that occurred. Rather the statement is limited to showing that a factual basis exists to support the defendant's plea of guilty.

In her stipulated facts excerpted below, JLF provides that about March 17, 2020, she reconnected online with her former high-school boyfriend, DL. Shortly after reconnecting online, JLF learned that DL sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and was disabled as the result of a roadside IED while he was a soldier deployed in Iraq.

Around March 18, 2020, JLF sent DL an email asking him what effects he had from his TBI-- claiming to have treated many patients (mostly soldiers) with TBI!

By April 2020 JLF was alleging to DL that her husband was physically and sexually abusing her. To be clear, the defendant has stipulated that the allegations of abuse shared with DL are not true and that her husband never physically or sexually abused her in any way.

I think the news that JLF preyed on a disabled veteran-- probably still carrying shrapnel in his head, explains the silence from her gunman. DL has still not entered a plea on the murder charges filed against him.

That head injury didn’t prevent him from planning a murder, functioning well enough to drive hundreds of miles, carry the murder out and take steps to cover it up. I think he is dealing with a lost cause if he plans to use that injury in his defense.

Respectfully, I don't think we can say unequivocally that DL planned the murder but we definitely know that he pulled the trigger. To be clear, I'm not excusing KL's actions but I'm confident that JLF was the mastermind here.

Oh I agree. I just think he will lose out trying to get a jury in Texas to sympathize with that if he uses it in his defense. I don’t think they are going to look any further than him creeping around that neighborhood while armed and shooting James to death on the street. I do look forward to what she tells the court next week.

Thank you so much @Seattle1 for all the latest news re JLF. My PC died late last week and I just got the new one up and running a few minutes ago. I wasn't expecting her to plead guilty but in the long run I'm rather glad she did. I say that because at least now her daughter will be spared the ordeal of a very ugly trial. Jaime obviously loved her as if she were his own daughter. She always seemed so happy in the photos of them together. Now she's about to lose her mother. How does a young woman live with all of that. It's beyond sad.

As far as JLF is concerned, I think the death penalty is too good for her and I hope the Judge shows her no mercy whatsoever. I want her to suffer for the rest of her life, and I hope it's a long one. She's depraved beyond belief and has destroyed not 1 but 3 lives, two of whom were completely innocent and the third was easy prey for someone so evil.

Refresher on DRL's federal arrest on gun charges. He faces 10 yr sentence for the federal violation and life for state murder charges:

Lopez’s phone records showed the two had been in constant contact, sending one another hundreds of texts each day for several month, including the weeks before and after the killing, according to the affidavit.

Investigators learned that Lopez had a truck that matched the description provided by neighbors of a black Nissan truck with a Texas Rangers sticker. On Nov. 20, law enforcement officials conducted aerial surveillance of Lopez’s residence in Cumberland Furnace, Tenn. and spotted the truck.

They were then able to trace Lopez’s route on Oct. 8 and 9 from Tennessee to Texas through cellphone tower data, debit card transactions, location data and surveillance video.

During the execution of a search warrant at Lopez’s home on Jan. 11, agents recovered the .45 caliber handgun that officials say was used to kill Faith.

“This defendant allegedly gunned down an innocent man in broad daylight,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Prerak Shah. “I hope this case makes one thing crystal clear: If you carry a gun across state lines in order to commit violence, you will be subject to federal prosecution.”

JLF simply wanted her husband dead for both emotional and financial gain. She loved the sympathy that her husband's good name bought her.

She coached a vulnerable dude to drive his own vehicle, carrying his own cell phone from TN to TX, and shoot her husband Jaime in broad daylight! She knew he would be caught! Planned on it.

IMO, she was most reliant that DRL would never give her up. And he didn't.

In return, he got a big-screen TV and love letters.
