Take note jury selection is expected to begin on Friday, July 21, and opening statements on Monday, July 24.

Okay - got it! :D

And you are all welcome - it is kind of confusing when I have 2 cases or even more going on with any suspects on here! :)

I'm personally hoping for a surprise plea agreement before the jurors are ever seated. The betrayal the family and friends endured was already enough. Let them all have some peace.

If there is no plea deal, Law & Crime is going to cover the trial

Apparently not -- jury selection was scheduled for Friday, July 21, and it appears this happened, and opening statements on Monday.

It does surprise me there was no agreement because the prosecution was actually sympathetic to Darrin and his falling prey to Jennifer's manipulation during Jennifer's sentencing.

Perhaps this seeming support by the prosecution was limited to the federal prosecution and not shared by the State which applies in Darrin's case.

On the other hand -- it might be that the defense believes they stand a better chance here by giving the case to a jury, hoping jurors will find the defendant guilty of lesser charges than a life sentence.

IMO, much of the delay in moving this case off of center seemed to be collecting his medical records from the VA. MOO

7/24/23

Detectives said Jennifer plotted to kill her husband to get more than half a million dollars from a life insurance policy.

Federal prosecutors said Jennifer deceived Lopez into believing her husband was abusive. They said she was having an emotional affair with Lopez, who was her high school boyfriend.

Police said Lopez, who is a former soldier who suffered a traumatic brain injury in Iraq, drove from Nashville to Dallas to kill Jennifer’s husband.

Lopez has entered a not-guilty plea in this case.

The judge expects a jury to be selected Monday.

Opening statements are set to begin Tuesday.

Wow, I think this is the first time I heard that the daughter, Amber, was present when the murder occurred. I just presumed she was in Az. o_O

My heart breaks for witness, Wilson (he came face to face with the killer).
