I am still leaning to a carjacking. If he stopped at a gas station/mart to fill up with gas and snacks/coffee and went inside to pay. He could have pulled out his wallet and paid. The person could have seen how much money he had and carjacked him. His family would have had no idea how much money he was carrying to know if it was missing. He could have been killed and left somewhere entirely different from where the car was found. The dogs could have been confused by being asked to follow a scent but it wasn't the scent presented to them at the scene.
This exact scenario happened to an acquaintance as he was returning to college and the perpetrator was not found until he was arrested on another charge and my friend's college textbooks were found in his room. MOO MOO MOO

I tend to agree. Sadly, I think his body is several miles away in a ditch. I think whomever took off in his vehicle and crashed out and fled. This happens a lot. Once crashed, the driver took off on foot and called for a ride.

I’m leaning to the simplest explanation. He made wrong turn, started driving faster to maybe get to main road and swerved maybe looking for gps and over corrected. Crashed. Disoriented and freaked out and in shock just started walking. He’s probably within 5 miles either directions.
I believe he’s out there I just hope found soon. I don’t believe any foul play, no car jackers, no one accidentally hit him and got rid of him.
This is just based on my gut but I’ve been wrong before.

I am going to guess he is even closer- 1 mile or less from his car.

Was the crash near a body of water? The last case I followed with extremely similar circumstances, he was found weeks later deceased in body of water near crash site.

This would be the common thing, as mentioned; however, what I keep coming back to is that it is TES searching, they’re the best of the best...sure we’ve seen many times searchers miss...Point is, if I had to wager, if TES didn’t find him, then my GUESS is he’s out of that 2.0 radius, jmo, especially the search is being conducted relatively soon after Jason has gone missing.

I agree. I think if LE suspected a car jacking or crime, they would have released some information. It's just way too quiet.

IMO It appears to be an accident.
I'm baffled by the idea that he could have intentionally crashed...no.

Maybe he wandered around near the car at first, which confused the dogs.

It's very hard to find missing people in nature and unfortunately, he was probably in shock and confused and became lost.

I read a case yesterday where a man accidentally drove into a ravine during the day and even tried to mark his path as long as he could, and they still never found him, because he mistakenly went away from civilization instead of toward it.

My hope for this case is that Jason will be found in upcoming searches. I think it's very likely he is in the area.

I can't really imagine there would be anything useful on his phone, beyond finding out whether he was using it to navigate. What are people thinking is going to be on there? JMO.

1. From his Facebook about info section he has attended a few different colleges including Sam Houston state and Univ of Houston. Had he been at TSU long? Did he actually have many friends, roommate or girlfriend? His Facebook indicated he had been in a relationship since Jan 6, 2018. Jason Landry
I’m not wanting to sleuth friends just curious about his mindset.

We would not be.
This is a missing person's case and we tend to look at everything when a case goes on this long without resolution.
Would take LE 5 months to open what exactly? Your phone or mine? Hardly. They'd open mine in 5 minutes.
My question, again pertains to security packages with complex coding.

4000 acres have been searched by foot, horse and dogs. That’s a little more than a circle with a 1.4 mile radius, starting from the accident point. Another 17,000 acres have been searched by helicopter and drone. I don’t know if those areas are overlapping or not, but if not, that’s a circle with a radius of a little more than three miles. I’m pointing this out because they’ve done their best to search an incredibly large area, but if Jason kept walking in a straight line, he could be a lot further than 1-3 miles out. And Texas is big. :-(

It usually does though, with TES because of their unique search capabilities.
If they say he is not in the area they already searched, I reckon he's not.
They have halted their search for now and will return of LE can provide them with a place to search that is more specific to his presumed location (source- Crimeonline recent article)
