Was Jason employed at the time of his disappearance?

The family needs to press the press to keep Jason’s story alive.

It's been awhile since I've been through Luling but I was trying to imagine a scenario where he was following GPS to mizzou city which would have said to turn right to stay on 80 to get to I-10 but knew there was a quicker way through town to get to buc-ees but couldn't remember the way exactly. So he rolls through the intersection thinking he'll see the shortcut. Don't know why he would have stayed on salt flat so long. Again, maybe he was trying to get to buc-ees because he had to use the bathroom so he decides to stay on salt flat and find relief on side of the road. Just trying to play out different scenarios in my mind.

Exactly.

I think he was distracted, it was dark, and really late for a small town... they probably roll up the sidewalks around 8 p.m. on a Sunday night... and he missed his turn. Maybe he wasn't using his GPS app after all.

My favorite landmark in that area is the watermelon-shaped water tower near I-10. That's how I know I'm in Luling (and close to I-10).

Buc-ee's might've been a destination for him, since they are open 24/7.

I know I'm close to Luling because of the smell...

Google Maps
If he had turned right here where he should have he would have had gas stations ( if they were open all night) and other commercial buildings for their bathrooms. It is clearly a commercial stretch of road. Going straight across that intersection as he did would have been into residential areas.
Also, look up on the two corners of that church, does it look like two security cameras to you or am I just wishing?

It's cameras or speakers??? Not sure why they'd have cameras or speakers in those locations unless they were placed by the city to keep watch over the pump/derrick display. There are traffic cams in that intersection.

I agree! That's what is so weird about this case!

It could be that he missed his turn because he was distracted thinking about something or sort of driving on auto pilot. I have done something similar before. Not wrecked my vehicle but was in my thoughts and started driving somewhere else on auto pilot just to realized in a bit that I'm not headed at all to my actual destination. Perhaps if he was running some sort of GPS app, it would have "recalculated" once he got going the wrong direction and directed him that way to get back on the right route? Not sure as I am unfamiliar with the area but my GPS has given me some really weird "short cuts" or routes to get back on track due to a missed turn before.

So I keep thinking about the rear damage on his car. What was that caused by in a single car accident? I know they say there is no evidence of another car at the scene. But what if that damage (on the rear) didn't happen at that scene? What if he was rear ended elsewhere and followed/chased to where he eventually crashed? Just throwing out some ideas.

I find that if I search these long threads for particular words or word (Upper right corner, then select 'Search this thread only', I can easily find things I'm questioning/wondering about.

Searching for the word 'spun' lead me to an article posted much earlier in the thread. I could have found the same news article/link by searching for a variety of words (trunk, bumper, etc.). I found this (Bolding is mine):

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Deon Cockrell said the crash involving Jason Landry's car was reported around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, on Salt Flat Road in south Caldwell County.

"The car got off the road and spun around, and the back driver-side trunk, bumper and the side of the car took most of the impact," Cockrell said Thursday.

Me again... You can find the link to the article I got that from by doing a search. Although they might have been incorrect in their speculation, but they sure know more than I do so will take them at their word. :)

Is the car undriveable?

I am assuming this post was in response to me, although I wasn't quoted, because I posted right above you wondering about the rear damage on his car. I do know how to do a search of the thread and conducted one prior to my post using the word "rear." All the results were other folks also questioning the rear damage and I did not find the quote you bolded above.

No, you haven't annoyed me but it did give me a recent example. I've posted this same sort of info on other threads as well. I feel it helps a lot of people if they know about this, and other handy options. I'm one that not only likes tips, but like to help others by sharing them. I love when I learn something new that makes my life easier so tend to share those things with others, here and everywhere to be honest with you. lol

Well, this is purely anecdotal, but I skidded once, lost control, and ended up with damage to the front on my car, the right side of my car, the rear of my car, and the left side of my car. I’d only hit one thing—a guardrail.

I sure hope that this isn't going to be another "Maura Murray" type of case. These kids are so young with their entire lives ahead of them. I hope that this young man is found alive.
