Was Jason employed at the time of his disappearance?
Exactly.
I think he was distracted, it was dark, and really late for a small town... they probably roll up the sidewalks around 8 p.m. on a Sunday night... and he missed his turn. Maybe he wasn't using his GPS app after all.
My favorite landmark in that area is the watermelon-shaped water tower near I-10. That's how I know I'm in Luling (and close to I-10).
Buc-ee's might've been a destination for him, since they are open 24/7.
Google MapsIt's been awhile since I've been through Luling but I was trying to imagine a scenario where he was following GPS to mizzou city which would have said to turn right to stay on 80 to get to I-10 but knew there was a quicker way through town to get to buc-ees but couldn't remember the way exactly. So he rolls through the intersection thinking he'll see the shortcut. Don't know why he would have stayed on salt flat so long. Again, maybe he was trying to get to buc-ees because he had to use the bathroom so he decides to stay on salt flat and find relief on side of the road. Just trying to play out different scenarios in my mind.
I know I'm close to Luling because of the smell...
Google Maps
If he had turned right here where he should have he would have had gas stations ( if they were open all night) and other commercial buildings for their bathrooms. It is clearly a commercial stretch of road. Going straight across that intersection as he did would have been into residential areas.
Also, look up on the two corners of that church, does it look like two security cameras to you or am I just wishing?
I'm north of Austin, and when the winds blows a certain way, everyone reports a natural gas smell. It's the "Luling Effect."So true. And it's not the smell of watermelons.
I agree! That's what is so weird about this case! The family needs to press the press to keep Jason’s story alive.
Hold vigils, give interviews, plead for info. JMO
I find that if I search these long threads for particular words or word (Upper right corner, then select 'Search this thread only', I can easily find things I'm questioning/wondering about.
Searching for the word 'spun' lead me to an article posted much earlier in the thread. I could have found the same news article/link by searching for a variety of words (trunk, bumper, etc.). I found this (Bolding is mine):
Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Sgt. Deon Cockrell said the crash involving Jason Landry's car was reported around 12:30 a.m. on Monday, on Salt Flat Road in south Caldwell County.
"The car got off the road and spun around, and the back driver-side trunk, bumper and the side of the car took most of the impact," Cockrell said Thursday.
Me again... You can find the link to the article I got that from by doing a search. Although they might have been incorrect in their speculation, but they sure know more than I do so will take them at their word.![]()

YesIs the car undriveable?
I sure hope that this isn't going to be another "Maura Murray" type of case. These kids are so young with their entire lives ahead of them. I hope that this young man is found alive.
