Another possibility....

Because he had his fish, I think we can safely conclude he was going somewhere purposeful.... perhaps ultimately home, perhaps somewhere else....

What if he was arranging to meet someone? Used Waze to get to a specific location, namely near that last intersection. Once there, he disconnected Waze, no longer needing it, opened snapchat to communicate with whomever he was meeting, and waited. Then another car arrived and he followed that car to somewhere, for much of 67 minutes....

And then he followed that car onto, along or further on Salt.... and driving, either reached for his lost phone or encountered something like deer and swerved, over-corrected, slid off the road, hitting the tree....

The second driver stops.... convinces him to leave absolutely everything behind. He gets in their car and they drive away......

"Somebody knows something."

It explains why no one would come forward, claiming to be the second half of Jason's last snapchat conversation.

It explains the crash, an unintended accident.

It explains snapchat and waze.

It explains all his things, left behind.

If he followed someone out there, they may have known the area. If Jason did leave a scent trail to the abandoned house and pond, maybe he didn't walk that path alone. A tracker dog IMO wouldn't be able to say, "Whelp! Hold the phone! Yes, Jason went this way but he wasn't alone."

What if the pond was ceremonial? Think baptism. You might undress and remove your watch for that.

While I don't think any of this is altogether likely, it does leave a path open for Jason to be alive..... and explains why he wasn't found during the searches and why no one has come forward to supply this missing information...

It makes sense that his parents would assume he must've been on his way home. Heavens, where else would he be going, late at night, packed up from school with his beta fish in tow?

But is it possible Jason found a new religion?

Could he be safe somewhere, insulated from the news, having simply walked away from his old life?

I pray for answers, for LE, for his parents, so that whatever happened, Jason can be found....

This has been my leaning for a long time now. I believe Jason was not leaving a life because of unhappiness or discontent but was going to a life that had deep profound meaning to him. A life that he was willing to give up everything for. This was positive for him.
He left everything behind to move into this new life. It is possible that the transition to this new life did not unfold quite like he had planned but it was successful
What kind of life could he move into and not need any trappings of this life, his license, Social security card, phone, lap top, clothes. He could leave all this and move toward, for him, a full and rewarding life. He may have felt called to do this. MOO MOO MOO MOO

Another consideration (sorry if this was already mentioned and I missed it): most people I know use Waze to avoid cops, speed traps, etc. Maybe he was using it for that purpose, especially if he was under the influence. Trying to find an alternate route if the one he typically used was crawling with troopers.

I can't figure out why his clothing would be strewn about like it was unless he had a mental health episode. If he was taken against his will, why would his clothes be all over the road? I can't make that make sense. I also really, really doubt he just disappeared to start a new life, that seems pretty far-fetched to me.

So he is going home, he's under the influence, maybe even using as he's driving, he's using Waze to avoid cops, and he goes off course quite a bit, is looking at his phone & Snapchatting instead of driving and gets into a single-car wreck. Does he take off to avoid getting a DWI? But why remove the clothes? Is he panicking and running?

In my opinion, he might not have ultimately been going home on this trip. He could have been going somewhere for a few days and just took his fish and of course, would need toiletries for that. Might explain the lack of clothes and a suitcase. His parents didn't know he was coming, Christmas wasn't for some time and I imagine he still had a few days he could spare before going home. I wonder what his work schedule looked like? Was he working? Had he taken off?

Wherever he was going, that place or person likely enjoyed gaming and possibly getting high because that is what was found, right? His backpack with gaming gear, wallet, and weed. Which also tells me he wasn't going to a girl's house and also widens the possibility for foul play in my mind. And, brings me right back to this case being a tad similar to Alan Whites from Dallas case, possibly, or should I say, IMHO.

So, If I were leading the search, and I am definitely not qualified in real life, no experience whatsoever, I am starting with a deep dive into his gaming persona. Which by the way, I can't find. Anyone? Twitch and smash.gg ? I would love to find it and feel like there is a mountain of info there. Secondly, I am looking at who he communicated with recently through gaming, what discords he was in. This may not be about the drugs at all. This may be all about someone else having lured him to a rendevous point with foul play on the mind. If this were the case would we be looking for someone that lives in the area or would there have been hotel reservations during this time frame?

I understand there are very competitive people in the community, but by and large any disagreements tend to also stay online. Long before NG and YT interviews with KL, I recall the initial reports as JL headed home to Missouri City for Christmas break but he was expected at Sienna Plantation on Sunday by a childhood friend, and where they had plans for video/gaming event. It's also been confirmed JL was traveling with gaming equipment inside the backpack.

I think it's very plausible for JL to have plans with "hometown friends" before his siblings arrived at the family home (as KL awkwardly explained).

Also, given that JL had only been TSU since Sept 2020, I don't find it unusual that he would have sufficient wardrobe at his family home -- no need for a suitcase, etc..

Who wouldn’t come forward at once, hearing he was missing? I just cannot believe anyone accosted him on the road either. He crashed, he freaked out, he set out on foot, imo. With or without weed/drugs, many people “freak out” after an impactful crash. Especially in the middle of night, no help in view, etc...

As to heading home without notice, it is more than possible if not particularly considerate or usual. I think the fish shows he was intending to go home. And never made it. All jmo.

Not quite exactly meant, but close. Maybe this person lured him. Maybe this person didn't appear to have a problem with him. Maybe it wasn't gaming-related at all, but gaming is how they originally connected. Can you find him on twitch? smash was his game of choice i think.

Kent [Landry] said on Sunday, Dec. 13, his son was "talking to a friend" as he was getting dressed getting ready to head out. Hours later, Jason disappeared.

I thought about that too and wondered if he brought all of that, including the fish, and was told by the person who was meeting him that he could bring nothing of his previous life forward with him and so he had to leave it. MOO MOO MOO

Poor Texas right now for sure. I'm sure the weather will impact any official or volunteer searches for Jason. IMO

Without him using his real name or any clue as to his screen name, it’s difficult to find him. A cursory search using obvious keywords didn’t yield anything though. I’m guessing that’s Super Smash Bros.? I could be wrong, it’s just the first and only thing that comes to mind.

My sister and her daughters have homes near Houston...two of the three have had burst pipes, one doing a ton of damage to an almost new house though they had wrapped pipes etc...it is an endless battle, and two of three still no power since Monday. My other sister in Dallas onky mildly better off...it is beyond belief.

I tend to think that we are reading too much into the “loss of digital footprint” and “missing 67 minutes”. My own theory is that Jason succumbed to injury following the accident and is just outside the search area. I also think that the most likely explanation is that he dropped his phone at the intersection and thus “ended his digital footprint”.

Those two points have been discussed at length. What I haven’t seen is a layout of the timing. Given what we know from the police report linked earlier let’s assume the following:

1. Jason was at the Magnolia Avenue intersection at 11:24pm
2. Jason’s crashed car was identified by the passerby at 12:31am. The intervening time is the 67 minutes referenced
3. We know that the drive from the intersection to the crash site is approx 13-15 minutes per Google Maps
4. The oil worker drove by the crash site 30-45 minutes before it was discovered and did not report seeing the car. This would be estimated at 11:45pm -12:00am per the timeline

Given these inputs, my view is:
+ Earliest Jason could have reached the crash site is 11:41 (13 minute drive beginning at 11:24)
+ By my logic, the “missing time” is actually pretty short - as little as 4 min or as much as about 20 min
+ Quite likely that Jason drove a bit slower than Google maps estimated, but did drive directly to the crash site and did not arrive until after the oil worker drove past the spot
+ Also possible he made a short stop (pee? smoke?) that accounts for these missing minutes

My own theory of the whole situation is very simple:
1. At the magnolia intersection Jason inadvertently turned off Waze when he checked Snapchat. He then dropped the phone between the console and seat, where it was later found by his dad.
2. Jason continued onto Salt Flat Road, assuming he would be instructed by Waze which he thought was still running (assuming he would hear the directions even though the phone had fallen). —15 min pass
3. Road conditions / animal etc cause him to swerve, overcorrect, crash
4. Jason briefly tried to retrieve his phone but in confusion / adrenaline post accident he could not
5. Head injury / confusion causes paradoxical undressing
6. Jason wanders, naked, farther than the search parameters and sadly succumbs to the elements.

The only part of my theory I struggle with is the paradoxical undressing. But I find it more likely than the other theories (foul play, meeting someone on salt flat road, baptism, etc). I think it’s possible he smoked and perhaps that contributed to the post crash confusion.

Wow. I'm really sorry to hear that. I've seen pics of icicles hanging from indoor fan blades. TX is pretty hard hit right now. Weren't they going to do a search that the weather sidelined?

I recall this too. It explains the gaming equipment, the fish, the reason his parents may not have expected him directly, and possibly the odd hour. But Sienna Plantation is near his home near Houston. It's plausible that was indeed his intended destination that night but I can't figure out a way to connect that to Luling and Salt Flat Road.
