Looks like the spot was chosen because it's on private property. They couldn't afford it otherwise.

I'm not from the U.S. (and the country I live in doesn't do billboard adverts for missing people) so I was just curious as to what the average cost for one of these usually is?

"We've had banners in town, but they're about to have to be taken down, per the city of Luling," said Rains. "I made a deal with this property owner who lives in Austin to rent this billboard, and hopefully, we're going to have it up until July."

"To get more answers, Rains found an empty billboard at 2063 N. Magnolia Ave. She spoke to the business owner and ended up settling for a fee of $50 a week for the next 13 weeks."

"A great deal for a billboard," she added.

"Rains said this was possible through the generous donations of dozens of people."

Interesting point in the video around :50...the individual in the yellow hoodie/sweatshirt (assuming he may be the volunteer fire fighter) says "I live right up there on Soda Springs...and I kinda tailed the vehicle."

Does he mean he was tailing Jason? Or another vehicle leaving the scene? Or something completely unrelated? If it was JL...did Jason, maybe in some altered state, feel like he was being followed and accelerated to get away and lose control? Just speculation not knowing the context of the quoted statement.

Yes, that's Kallen the VFF in the yellow hoodie.

Also, a correction to what he said. He said I kinda tailed the vehicles (plural), but I ain't never (unintelligible).

As far as the word tailed.... is it really tailed or is it his accent that makes it sound like tailed? I thought it was tailed until I listened to it for the millionth time and then questioned that word. lol Either way, he did say vehicles, not vehicle, so I don't think he meant he tailed Jason's car. I also think he's talking about some kind of experience/process kinda unrelated to Jason where he tails(?) vehicles. Perhaps at calls related to his job he does whatever sounds like 'tails'.

Could it be, "... I can kinda tell the vehicles, but I ain't never seen them..." ?

As in, he is local, and a firefighter, and *kinda* knows the vehicles from the area?

I speak fluent Texan, and that's what it kinda sounds like to me. . . ;)

BINGO!!!! That is EXACTLY it! :D Listening to it again, and subbing 'tell' for 'tailed' as I'm listening, it's as plain as the nose on my face! He said "I can kinda tell the vehicles, but I ain't never seen this vehicle."

It's funny that I absolutely could not understand the end of what he said when I "heard" it as tailed... but when I heard it as tell.... it just all fell into place.

ETA - so it was his accent that threw me. LOL :p

It sounds to me like the last part of his sentence is "but I ain't never seen this vehicle." which make sense if the first part is "I can kinda tell the vehicles," and he talking about recognizing local vehicles like you said earlier.

Are you talking about the "oil field worker" that drove by around 11:30-ish and said he didn't see anything? Or are you talking about something else? :)

In the bodycam video above, the trooper (I think) asks where the car is (around the 2:10 mark).

Yes it could be alcohol and a hangover that made him sweat so much. But if that's the case he wasn't in any shape to drive. With a hangover the person would feel awful not good. So I don't think it was alcohol actually. That makes me wonder did he really leave? He had to feel good or he perceived himself to and so left and did not feel sick. But upon leaving his condition was not good in reality. MOO all MOO. Since we are talking about this that is my observation of what may have occurred. IMO it would take hours to clear one's system of any type of mind altering substance. Possibly whatever it was Jason had taken was the last part of it clearing his system, I wonder? Depending on the amount, use, and weight of the person these things would factor in. Maybe a conclusion by the PI and Jason's family was made based on this type of thing.

Pills with or without abusing them will make a person sweat. Imo
Pills? IMO it would have to be more than a couple to cause sweating. How about caffiene pills? I'm sure that would cause sweating as well and there is no mind altering drug there. But the way Jason's eye coloring looked IMO something else was going on I don't think caffeine pills would do that.

Moo ..the police said his cup smelled of alcohol....he could of popped some mushrooms or peyote etc or mix of the smorgasbord of availables. He is a young guy it is the holidays he is a bit wired up and went for a drive it is a pretty common occurrence. Stoned and and making wise choices are really not two things that go together....i can tell you from my own life experience. He just got unlucky....moo

It wasn't the police that made that comment. It was the VFF. Bringing over an older post where I responded to that back in February.

JMO on what the VFF said about the cup smelling like alcohol... When I heard that my first thought was he ASSUMED there'd be alcohol in the cup (the reason for the crash and disrobement) so he thought that's what he smelled. Also MOO but I think he was VERY wrong with his assumption. Had it been sunny out, and he SAW the fish in it, I'd bet everything I own that he would not have come up with the same assumption if he took a sniff. He also seems a tad immature to me. He was laughing about something (I don't recall what, but might have been that the driver was nude). MOO I kinda feel like his immaturity made him assume the water of a pet fish smelled like booze.

Do you have the timestamp of that so I, and anyone else that's interested, can find it quickly and easily? TIA
