MESQUITE, Texas — Human remains found by police in October have been confirmed to be those of a missing Dallas Independent School District educator, according to the Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office.

Jennifer Mendez Olascoaga, 24, went missing on Sept. 27 in Seagoville. Her remains were found Oct. 12 after officers were called to a wooded area near Interstate 20 and Lawson Road.

How do we tag so a mod can adjust the heading to Found Deceased?

I just clicked the report tab in your post and requested a mod to add to the title.

"On September 27. She was last seen. She was located Oct. 12. So we do have a span of time, so we're getting a delayed start on this and that does make it a little more difficult," explained Ricketts (Lt. Rickketts, Mesquite PD) who said time is critical in these types of cases.

He said they are now in charge of the investigation since the remains were found in their jurisdiction. Ricketts said Seagoville Police, which handled the initial missing case, has handed over the case to Mesquite Police.

“We do have evidence from the scene, we have her vehicle that in our possession, so we have evidence to look at and go over. We have family members to talk to the other agencies about what they've collected, but obviously, we'd love to talk to anyone else that may have information in this case," said Ricketts.

I wish we had some updates on this case. No doubt the family would like some as well.

Okay, I guess the mystery cause of death is either not yet clear or releasing it will harm the investigation.

"cause and manner of death was listed as a homicide as of Dec. 22, according to the medical examiner's records. WFAA has reached out to Mesquite PD for further comment on the manner of death designation"

I genuinely did not expect that.

I am glad that an arrest was made. Balch Springs looks to be close to Mesquite.

Any guesses as to whether or not JO knew this individual?

Great news and kudos to LE and the family for keeping a tight lid on the ongoing investigation until they had him in custody.

Thanks for posting this.
Thank goodness he was too stupid to turn off the phones when he took her to the woods, shot her, hid her in the woods and then went home to his apartment. They don't know the motive for him to take this young woman from her family, maybe it will come out later. Again, kudos to the family for the awful task of not talking about the case while LE tracked down the p*s.
Rest in peace Jennifer and condolences to her family and friends.

I tried to find court records for SBM but only found a motor vehicle accident that occurred in 2020. He was ordered to pay the plaintiff, who shares his last name, $60,000.
