Info from larger article on missing persons, Austin American-Statesman, Sat, Mar 30, 1985 ·Page 1. Noting the news article indicates he went missing on Feb 16, not Feb 17 as reported in Namus.

• He left his home after he called his wife at work about 6 telling her he was going out, possibly to see a friend, and would be back by the time she was home at 11 PM.
• The next day his vehicle was found about 5 miles away at a McDonalds (no one there remembered seeing him), on the other side of the friend's residence (who told police he was not home that night).
• The keys were in the vehicle, along with several beer cans. The engine cover had been removed but nothing was wrong with the engine.
• There was a report of 2 men in a similar vehicle (clerk remembered because of a light that was out) paying cash for gas at a nearby gas station. Nothing further found on these 2 men.
• Considered a family man, at the time he was a father of 3 and married for 12 years.
• The family distributed fliers, searched along with police, hired detectives and psychics.
