Search and cadaver recovery dogs were reportedly stymied when the trail on Joshua's scent cooled at the edge of the family's yard, which would seem to counter theories that the youngster could have toddled off on his own into the cold evening around 8 p.m., the time witnesses at the Davis home believe he disappeared.

That's what it sounds like to me...:-(

Bold and color by me

Would the search dogs not have been finding the scent of "live Joshua" and the cadaver dogs finding the scent of "deceased Joshua"?

Did both types of dogs lose his scent in the same place?

So he was alive until that point, then deceased?

Was there room for a vehicle to have driven to that spot?

"Search and cadaver recovery dogs were reportedly stymied
when the trail on Joshua's scent cooled at the edge of the family's yard..."

The fact that "both" dogs lost his scent makes me concerned that there was not two sets of dogs.

I am concerned that maybe the dogs were one team of "search and cadaver recovery" dogs.

Not a team of "Search and Rescue dogs" and a separate team of "Human Remain Detection dogs."

I think they had dogs that were supposedly "cross trained"... that picked up Joshua's scent ALIVE. I don't think they ever picked up a scent of him being dead, period. Whether or not anyone knows how to tell the difference... I don't know.

That's all just my opinion from how they worded the article... even if they had two teams of dogs, unless I hear they used the correct dogs I am not going to put much into what the dogs didn't find.

SARX-
Do they "cross train" prison dogs for HRD in case the prisoner croaks before they find them?

Baby Joshua's dad, JAD, has taken the polygraph and the baby's mother, SB expressed interest in taking a polygraph, McDonald said.

Sabrina just had a baby a week ago. They wouldn't polygraph her while she was pregnant. She is waiting for clearance from her doctor to take the polygraph now that she is not pregnant. I would imagine the hormone levels and/or any medication she might be on would have an impact on the test.

<respectfully snipped>

I was thinking the same thing...we need Sarx.

Please tell me this case is not going to be a cold case

If LE is being lied to (by fact or omission) this was a cold case before it was a missing baby case. (Credit Tim Miller re deceit in the search for Caylee Marie).

I wish we knew if they used real cadaver dogs and not just prison dogs. That is a big deal if cadaver dogs picked up a scent. Yet no one is calling this a murder investigation, in fact we have no idea what they are calling it.

They're not calling it a kidnapping/abudction, and don't believe he wandered off so that only leaves a couple of scenarios - accident occuring in or around the house or homicide. Yet everyone except his mother appears to have taken a LDT. :waitasec: MOO

Probably this:

http://seguingazette.com/news/article_d612621c-407b-11e0-99bc-001cc4c03286.html

Lt. John McDonald of the New Braunfels Police Department criminal investigation division said FBI investigators have been talking to individuals far away from the Savannah Hill Circle neighborhood where 18-month-old Joshua vanished into thin air three weeks ago.

McDonald said the FBI has talked to individuals out of state who might have knowledge about the personalities of individuals connected to the case in some way.

They wouldn't polygraph her while she was pregnant.

She is waiting for clearance from her doctor to take the polygraph now that she is not pregnant.

I would imagine the hormone levels and/or any pain medication she might be on would have an impact on the test.

Clint Dunn (Hailey Dunn's father) has also expressed a desire to take a polygraph and LE has never asked him to do so. Though they have polygraphed her mother and others. For all we know, LE may have decided they don't need Sabrina to take one.

My assumption would be that that might be connected to Sabrina as she is from Illinois. It might indicate that the FBI has talked to her Illinois family members who would have knowledge about her personality.

Who's Clint Dunn?

Joshua Sr also has family out of state - a brother on the East Coast IIRC.

I thought polys measure blood pressure and heart rate ... so when those go up, they affect the poly.

If they don't poly her, they are not doing their jobs. JMO ... she was in the house when he disappeared. She's as suspect as the others.

eta
The polygraph or so-called lie detector measures physiological responses to stress experienced by a subject during the course of an interrogation. The instrument monitors three physiological states: (1) cardio-vascular responses manifested by changes in blood pressure, and pulse rate, (2) galvanic skin resistance which lowers as perspiration increases, and (3) breathing patterns that respond to changes in tension.

Besides, the mom might say something that clears up whatever the dad said that required 3 polys. JMO

  • #139
From what I read, polygraphs are not done on pregnant women due to possible stress to the baby, for some reason...but not because of the mom. So she should be able to take one soon, I would think...

It sounds like the investigating the FBI is doing out of state is through their Behavioral Analysis Unit and hopefully they can develop a good profile of who may be involved. MOO
