I refuse to believe "accidental death" theories. Maybe excessive neglect led to his death and they tried to hide it, but that's not an accident, that's neglect.

Maybe he did get outside and couldn't get back in? Maybe he froze to death so they hid his body.

Honestly, after following so many cases I'd probably lean mostly towards they killed him and hid him, like so many other cases we see here.

The pictures on the FB are so precious and heartbreaking. I agree there's no way NO ONE in that house knew anything. Interested in the "friend" who left and came back. (Would love to know the name!) But wonder what their motive would be for taking the boy. This case is just so sad (like so many on here). :tears:

Joshua's story aired on one of my local news channels last night. Apparently he now has a baby sister in addition to his little brother.

NEW BRAUNFELS -- Joshua Davis Jr. would be six years old, in the 1st grade and a big brother to his baby sister, living at home.

However, that's not the reality the family faces because he vanished when he was just 2 years old.

Four years later, the pain is still there but, the family says, their hope is stronger than ever.

"Birthdays and holidays, they still hurt," said Natalie Vargas, Joshua's grandmother. "I believe soon Joshua will be home."

I've thought about this little guy over the past few years many times. He is such a beautiful little boy. I hope some day he will be found.

Just read thru this thread & some on the FB page for Josh & the friend in question is named in a couple of posts. I don't know how to link it but if you read the post dated 12/29/14 you will see the name, no last name though that I could find anyway.
Praying for this little guy!

The thoughts & opinions stated above are that, MY random thoughts & opinions.

I don't see how so many little kids can just disappear off the face of the earth and never be found. Some articles say Joshua was 18 months old, some say he was 2 years old when he disappeared. Some say he would be 5 now and others say he would be 6 now. Can't the reporters even get his age right? I wish he and many other missing little ones could be found.

I recently made a trip to New Braunfels and it's very clear to me how he could disappear here without a trace. New Braunfels is the start of Texas hill country. Lots of hill area, lots of wildlife, lots of just wild. I love New Braunfels it's amazing and beautiful but def plenty of places to get lost for a baby.

New Braunfels toddler still ‘missing’ after 5 years

http://kxan.com/2016/02/03/five-years-later-police-still-seeking-leads-in-disappearance-of-new-braunfels-toddler/

Now on the eve of his disappearance, the New Braunfels Police Department says it is still seeking any information that can help them close the case and potentially find the boy’s remains. “Although the hope is always to find Baby Josh alive, unfortunately the investigation points toward a different theory indicating that the child is most likely deceased,” according to police in a news release.

Investigators were able to rule out abduction based on the family’s statements, but they did determine the child was not “capable of leaving the home on his own,” according to news release. Police believe Joshua’s disappearance is suspicious in nature and theorize that the child was possibly injured and then removed from the house.

He said police are using the fifth anniversary of Joshua's disappearance to pressure the family.

"We're asking them to search deep into their hearts and come forward with the information that could help solve this case," Ferguson said.

"I want people to stop pointing the finger at me," Benitez said. "Just like the cops don't know, nobody else knows what happened."

A similar article on KVUE, with video. I'm interested in the statement that police are now releasing more information in the hopes to get answers. I don't think anything knew was contained in this article.

I also believe it's very possible they spent a few moments getting rid of drugs before calling the police, maybe a marijuana tray or something, but I don't see how that's really relevant to finding him. It's not like getting rid of a murder weapon or baby bedding. Irrelevant, really, except that accusation somehow creates suspicion.

a police news release issued Wednesday [said], “Although the hope is always to find Baby Josh alive, unfortunately the investigation points toward a different theory indicating that the child is most likely deceased.”

Ferguson said the unsolved case has gotten “under our skin” in part because of what’s perceived as limited cooperation by members of the boy’s family.

Ferguson said that NBPD investigators confirmed there were illegal drugs inside the home at the time Joshua went missing. He said detectives also confirmed that those who were inside the house spent time cleaning up and disposing of the drugs before calling police to report the child missing.

Ferguson did not explain why no drug or tampering charges were filed in the case or what their possible presence had to do with the missing boy.

“Five years later, New Braunfels police detectives continue to investigate; however, they firmly believe that the key information needed to solve this case lies with members of the family that were in the home the night the child went missing.

IMHO, the mother probably does not know what happened. But one person there does. Otherwise, LE would know by now.
