The marriage between Gonzalez and De La Cruz had become verbally abusive and somewhat physical, according to Gonzalezs cousin. Michael Soto was the first to testify on Day 2 of the murder trial for De La Cruz. The troubles only grew once the couples daughter, Layla, was born, according to Soto.
