One of the many things I can't figure out....

LE has to have cleared some folks. If the families have that info, why not put it out there so that there's not iffy speculation about those people?

There's been 44 years of speculation about the letter and if Rachel wrote it. She was still in high school. There HAS to be an example of her writing.

I would also think that Rachel's family would knew things like... how long Debra continued to live with Tommy... what time Tommy was notified of the disappearance and what time he met up with the families, records of work done that day at the transmission shop, etc...etc..ect... But there was been no real answers to those questions and many more.

Please understand that I am NOT being disrespectful to the family. But there are many very simple issues that could be cleared up just by giving straight forward answers.

<modsnip - discussing non-POI as suspect>

I guess bottom line is, I truly wish the family would be more open to giving concrete info. I understand there are things they cannot say. But this is a 44 year old case. It's clearly not now and never has been the hot case to solve for LE. And every day this case goes unsolved is a day closer to the person(s) responsible never seeing justice.

I think the girls remains are in the second car.

Question...

One of DA's post here said that the letter started in ink, but was finished in pencil. I've also see that other places and heard too in a podcast.

Does anyone know where the letter begins in pencil? Just wondering if is could be that last sentence and signature. That would make me wonder if the note had been recycled for the disappearance.

I hope so. The families need that answer.
It’s very obvious. But like most other cases including the Null-Atchison case and the Williams-Rios-Johnson case were left with almost no answers. Foul play is suspected in the cases. The state of the car is what helps us determine foul play. This case will get solved. The Null-Atchison case was left with unanswered questions.

The families deserve the answers that the null family didn’t get.

This makes me think that particular vehicle isn’t associated with the case. With no tires or wheels & all that weight, you’d need a crane to get the car in there. Plus it was upside down.
How did it get upside down? I guess time and erosion. But if that's true, it's very possible all clues, if any were there, are most likely scattered outside the vehicle. Which would be disastrous. But this is the car.

It being upside down tends to confirm my thoughts about it being put in with a crane. And anchored down with bricks like that, could it have been put there for some sort of redneck fish habitat? I dunno. I hope they get some answers as well. I’m just pessimistic.

A car does not sink evenly. For instance, because of the weight of the engine the car may sink nose first and could easily end up upside down on the bottom.

The water would carry it. Listen to Jeff Burns explain in the link I posted.
I’m hoping that they can recover a good amount of all three sets of remains.

There is no glass, including front and back windshields. If there is anything in there, it will be lost from the turbulence created by hoisting them. Artifacts, human or otherwise likely will get caught up and be lost in the mud. The plan is to "wrap" them in tarps Technically; I don't see how it can be done - as described. If it were done very, very, very slowly - perhaps. The divers have about 45 minutes per dive to accomplish any part of the process. Probably 2 dives per day. Probably 3 days per car. The spectators that show up on the 22nd are in for a long, dull, disappointing experience.

Actually, Jeff Burns stated there is still some windows in the car.

Q: "Are you saying Cotton and Fran never left the house the day of the disappearance? Not even to go to the mall when the girls didn't come home?"
A: That's what I'm saying.

"Because that would mean Rusty isn't correctly remembering he went from store to store with Fran to look for the girls..."

A: Rusty has no memories. If that happened at all, it was after Christmas Day.

"and that Judy Wilson wasn't correct in saying Richard and Cotton guarded the car with shotguns..."
A: Don't know who told you that or where you may have read it. Richard and "someone else" guarded that car all night - from a distance. Judy would not have been mistaken about who was there. It was Francis who put Cotton in that car with Richard and told a reporter - who took it at face value.

"Even if the neighbors did say the Arnolds didn't leave their house, why would their memory seem more credible than the memories of the families?"
A: Francis was at her next-door neighbor's house throughout the day. In and out. This was a next day "interview" by police - for which you do not need a good memory. There are 3 families - 2 of which were not anywhere near the Arnold home on Monday. They have no way of knowing. There were eye-witnesses with no skin-in-the-game that contradict all of Fran's "critical accounts" as to her whereabouts.

"Also, you are the only person I have ever heard state that Fran was TT's alibi. Was this also heard from a neighbor? From a police report? From other family members? The source of this information seems very important."
A: Let me begin by saying; I do not believe Francis set out to provide TT with an alibli. She told a lie, that led to another lie, and another. Until there was no way to walk it back. Never believing it would matter. That is the most generous account I can come up. I do not believe she or Debbie conspired to mislead LE. Let's leave it at that.

If any of this is true, and there is no way to know, then it nullifies 99.9% of everything Rachel's family has said.

Anyone have any incite?????

You know at the time I had tried and tried, but couldn't get any further. TGweb asked those questions - very thorough - she didn't believe it, but we all left it at that.

You can try to message FW Cat and see if she has further info for you;)

It should be pretty obvious from Bring em up that Rachel's family has a certain suspect in mind now. If they had indeed protected him before, they aren't doing it now, but they aren't going to say any more, or any different. That's the best I can theorise.

MOO

Does anyone know when TT became a person of interest with LE?

I guess my real question is has he ever been OFFICIALLY named?

Like almost everything else with this case, none of that has ever been made public. I think the family probably knows but aren't saying. Seems like the FWPD could let one little fact out and do one of those Crimestopper things where they offer a reward for information. To my knowledge, the police have never released a single bit of information to the public. At this rate, it'll never be solved.

Maybe because, they don't really have much information to release?

If the family knows such information, and have confidence in it, Rusty wouldn't have been clutching at straws for so many years.

At this rate, it'll never be solved.

:(

But too, you have to remember that not so many years ago Rusty was publically saying that Rachel was still alive and coming back to Ft Worth each year around Christmas. What changed his mind?

Im not badmouthing Rachel's family, but they continue to allow blatant misinformation to go out and fester. I mean good grief, they still refer folks to the website to get case info. That website hasn't been undated in YEARS and it would be a challenge to count the non-facts there.

I cannot understand why they would foster the chaos. Logic would say that the cleaner the case info is, the more likely good info would could in that would help the case.

Forgive me if this has been answered already but, has Tommy ever submitted a DNA sample?

I've never read anything that says he has. Honestly, I've never seen anything saying he's even been interviewed since 1974.
