that's kinda spooky

When my daughter was a year and a half, I walked into the kitchen and she was sitting on top of the fridge. There were no drawers pulled out and I couldn't figure out how she had managed to get onto the counter and then onto the top of the fridge. I literally thought someone walked into my house and set her up there and walked back out. I even checked the door to see if it was locked and it was. I asked her how did you get up there and she just said I got here. I asked her did someone put you up there? and she said I got here. She never did it again and to this day I don't know how she did it.

or she was using the car as a babysitter at home ... haven't heard yet whether there was a dvd player in the car?

Maybe they were out and about, kids fell asleep in car, mom parked in shade leaving the babies in car asleep not realizing how hot it was maybe I don't know. I hate to victim blame but very fishy. I am in East Texas and I think yesterday was very hot compared to previous day's.

k all you mommas that have posted your experiences with toddlers have convinced me that strange things are possible (like a toddler climbing on top of a car hah! - I never would've believed that either) but I still think there's a lot missing from this story and I still can't shake my suspicions

Although I have a hard time seeing these 2 getting into the car alone, it's even harder for me to believe they did it carrying keys and a cell phone. Keys maybe wrapped around fingers but crawling into a car alone without dropping the cell phone? I can't.

What is your opinion on the make/model of this car?? Does anyone recognize the front grill as a specific make at least? I was initially thinking it was a Kia Forte, but unclear. Also, the spoiler type may be a giveaway for some. In initially looking at the wheels, it appears it is a compact car, but not too high end because they appear to be basic stock wheels.

Has the mother actually given the amount of time the kids were left unsupervised?

Looks to me like a Honda Accord or Chevy Malibu, or Ford Fusion. That size anyway. Don't think it would be too difficult for tots to get in. It's not high off the ground. Moo

To my knowledge, she has not. I found on a facebook comment where someone mentioned that "She wasn't napping according to her own words." I inquired if her statement was available online, but didn't receive a response. I haven't posted in WS in quite a few years, and don't recall all the specific rules. But this is a link to it. If this in violation, someone please let me know!

Gosh and I'm thinking more like Honda Civic, Chevy Cruze or Ford Focus...lol. Looking at it again, it appears to maybe even be a hatchback. My whole point of bringing up the car was actually in response to it having an entertainment system. While possible, I just couldn't imagine a compact car with entry level wheels, having that type of entertainment.

Look at the grill, I'm thinking Ford Fusion. 2013 maybe.
I'm not sure about the entertainment system. It could be stock or aftermarket.

I think a two year old could open and get into that car.

If she could open the door to get in, why couldn't she open it to get out?

Maybe because the door handle is very obvious on the outside of a car and may not have been so obvious in the interior?

I don't think hatchback because there are 4 doors. Usually hatchbacks only have two doors. Definitely a sedan. Might even be a Kia Optima based on the sunroof look. Moo

Possibly child locks from the inside?

Not the front doors which someone up thread said they were located in the front seat. I've not personally read that information from MSM though re where they were found.

ETA - the front passenger window was broken and if my kids were in the front seat I'd break out the back seat window thinking I was protecting them from flying glass. idk

That makes sense but if I'm in that situation I might would bust out the closest window to get them out. Moo

Lots of hatchbacks have four doors. Actually, if it only had two doors it would be more difficult to open, because the doors are wider and heavier to allow access to the rear seats.

So there we have two scenarios...I wouldn't in fear of hurting my children with glass and you would in order to get to them seconds faster. Goes to show our experiences sometimes are not what others would do in a given situation:).
