Update: the 🤬🤬🤬 campaign is no longer online. I clicked the link (which was mentioned in the syracuse.com story in Post #16. It says "campaign not found."

I can't link it directly, per TOS.

While I agree that it's society's job to protect children, and I'm the first one to ask a small child where his mother is, I don't think this precious baby died at the hands of siblings because she was unsupervised. I think the boyfriend killed her. I think many children are much, much safer left abandoned than they are when left with the mother's boyfriend.

RBBM: I had this same exact thought after reading all the articles I could fine. I don't think a three-year-old is capable enough of turning on the oven all of the way, nor do I think they could turn the oven over with the door down, so no one could open the oven.

This just hurts my heart...JMO

Other neighbors say it's not the first time they've seen the kids without adult supervision.

"She leaves her kids by themselves all the time, when she goes to work," said Miranda O'Neill Johnson.

http://abc7chicago.com/news/toddler...fter-kids-left-home-alone-police-say/1092682/

When are we going to start charging people who BLATANTLY disregard life threatening situations?
If you see a toddler alone on the edge of a lake, you intervene.
If you see a toddler alone at the edge of a highway, you intervene.
If you see a toddler alone in a hot car, you intervene.
If you see multiple toddlers being left HOME ALONE, you INTERVENE.

I am SO tired of these people after the fact.
"Oh yeah that baby was always outside alone, dirty and bruised."
"Oh yeah, that baby was always crying and getting beat."
"Oh yeah, those babies were always being left home alone."

People need to DO SOMETHING.
If it doesn't work then it's not your fault.
If you never even TRY?

It is those neighbors fault that this baby girl is dead.
They could have prevented this by calling when she left them home alone.
I hope they are haunted by that fact.
I can't think of a more horrific way to die. :twocents:

RBBM: While I agree with the rest of your post, Mrs.F, it is NOT directly the neighbor's fault she is dead. It is the parents' fault. They had no business leaving four children ages five and under home alone for ANY reason.

The neighbor's had a responsibility to call CPS, and maybe they did, we don't know. But, to say THEY are to blame for the baby's death is wrong, the only people directly to blame is the mother and her boyfriend. If it comes out that none of the neighbors called CPS, I'd say they were indirectly involved in her death, but not directly. The adults that left those children alone are the ones who are directly involved and they should be punished accordingly.

I don't see how three children could turn over a stove, so that the door is on the floor, so no one could open the door and get the baby out. I think one of the adults put the baby in the oven and put it on high and turned it over on the floor. But, that is JMO.

I don't think that it will be too hard to show who did this horrendous crime. There will be fingerprints perfectly placed on the stove where the murderous monster pushed it over - clear, solid, full hand prints from pushing over a big weight while in a drug-induced frenzy. And they won't be little finger prints. How despicable to blame this on small children.

Pretty soon I predict that we'll hear of drug related charges.

A couple of 3 year olds tipped over a stove? Not buying it. At all.

  • #27
I have not read the oven was tipped over. I have read that the 19 month old crawled inside it and one 3 year old sibling closed the door and the other 3 year old sibling turned the oven on. The 3 year olds apparently described their sister kicking the door trying to get out. (horrible to contemplate what that baby suffered).

So that story to me sounded plausible. If there is a link to the oven tipped or turned over I would like to read it as it might change the way I view the story as presented.

Thanks guys :) http://www.kvue.com/story/news/nati...es-after-siblings-put-her-oven-turn/76164434/

Um, no, if that oven/stove shown at :26 in the video is the actual oven/stove, no way was that thing tipped over by any child or by anyone on accident. That thing is surrounded by counter and cabinetry on either side. Someone would need to work very hard to rock that oven out away from the wall and then reach behind and tip it forwards. No child did that. And if that is indeed the stove, who exactly put it neatly back where it belongs and replaced the stuff lining the back of it?

Either the boyfriend is lying and the oven was not tipped over at all, or some adult tipped it over.

I'm voting for one of the adults tipped the stove over. There is no way 3 children under 5 can tip over a stove.

From your link:

Police said Thompson originally claimed she left her four children home alone to go to work. She later admitted she and Malone went out for pizza.
Two of the children are 3-years-old and the other is 5.

“With just a Pamper on, no shirt, no shoes or nothing,” MOJ (redacted), a neighbor, said. “Like, running around. I’m like, 'Where is the momma or the daddy?'”

Damn; what is wrong with these "parents"? Going out to eat pizza and leaving three babies to fend for themselves? That's just ridiculous! And part of me wonders if this is learned behaviour. Did the mom/boyfriend do similar as a "punishment" and the three year old just copied when they were alone?

As unlikely as it sounds, it is actually a lot easier than you might think to tip a stove over, so that the door of the stove is face down on the floor. I almost did it once by setting a roaster (full, with a 20 pound turkey in it) on the open door of the oven to grab something real quick. Before I even realized what a dumb thing that was to do, the whole oven began to tip forward. I grabbed the top just in time to stop it before it went over. Because of the location of the bottom hinge on the door, if it's open and a decent weight applied to it, I guarantee you, over it will go, and land door-down, sealed shut by the weight of the oven. However (and this is important) it depends on the kind of stove it is. I don't think that would happen with the one I have now (it's a beast) but the one it did happen with was one of those narrower kind.

I suppose it's possible one of the 3 year olds may have stood on the inside of the open door with the baby inside. If that child was normal 30 (average) pound weight for a 3 yr old and that was a lighter than standard stove, it most definitely would have tipped. IF that's what happened and the 3 yr old managed to jump off and out of the way, it makes sense.

EDITED: yep, googled it and sure enough, it happens :( http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/...d-child-killed-when-range-tips-over/index.htm

My understanding is that the door was closed and the victim was kicking the door from the inside. Perhaps in doing so she managed to top the oven over. Maybe she did manage to open the door and when she was trying to get out, the oven toppled over. Sounds like she was found on the floor and not inside the oven, so the door must have been opened at some point. By googling, I found a number of cases where a child was killed by a toppled oven, so these ovens aren't as stable as people think.

That poor child ....

I don't buy any of it.

If they were out for pizza. A joy ride. Or bringing rainbows and unicorns home.

It all stinks.

I always end up learning something from each case. Good points.

My 6 yr old grand daughter cant lift her 2 yr old sister nor reach the oven knobs on the back of the stove.. I'm not buying this.

if the police are buying this they need to be drug tested just like the so called parent(s)
