Thank you for the update! I'd been checking on and off for news and was disappointed by the lack of coverage.

I doubt LE will ever find Phantom Carlos though...

Just to bring some closure to this case I recently found that Angel Lizandro Sánches Zenteno is now serving a life sentence for the rape and murder of little Katherine:

It won't bring Katherine back but at least her murderer won't ever be able to harm another innocent little child.

Katherina's murder was so tragic, yet I found this story, from last year, about how Katherina's family is trying to become citizens of the United States, as a result of this tragedy (it makes sense if you read the story):

Most of the story was about positive things, but the story did say that Katherina's mother couldn't bring herself to work after Katherina was murdered. She couldn't bear to leave any of her other children in the care of anyone else. Katherina's father hopes to have his own business after he obtains citizenship. The older brother of Katherina is working hard to get into college. Although nothing will bring Katherina back to life, I'm glad the family is doing so well now.
