Investigators name teens and stepfather found dead in Katy home

Not many details yet.
Mother called authorities at 3 am to say she could not find her family.
The sisters and their stepfather were then found dead in an upstairs bedroom.
Something very bad happened.
I could speculate murder/suicide, but we have no word on that yet.
Waiting for more more information.

That seems strange. The mom/wife couldn't find her family?

Wouldnt the first place anyone would look for them would be at home in all of the rooms?

Purely speculating here: perhaps she had a foreboding that something was terribly wrong and could not bring herself to search alone? I do wonder where mom was when the shootings happened. Had she just arrived home after 3 am this morning?

It’s the middle of the night, 3:00 am. Wouldn’t the logical place to look be in their bedrooms?

What was Mom doing at that time of night.? Why wasn’t
She in bed?

Sorry for mistakes, my WS keeps refreshing!

She returned home at 3:00 after a “night out.”

A night out with friends perhaps?

I am always shocked when a crime like this happens in Katy. It is a very nice, although booming, suburb of Houston, with many neighborhoods of upscale housing. Of course I understand better than many with my B.S. degree in WS (!) that we can never really know what goes on behind closed doors. It’s just that there have been several of these over the years in Katy that it diesn’t seem to be an anomoly like I would expect. The Sheats and Temple murders are 2 examples. ALL are tragedies that leave family and friends devastated in their wake.

We lived in Katy, TX for 7 years. Just moved this summer. Katy is a suburb of Houston. The interstate and state highway systems there are extensive and there are three loops around Houston. This makes it pretty simple to get wherever you want to go. For mom to be out at 3am for a girls’ night would not be unheard of or even uncommon. Lots going on and to do in Houston.

Katy is, for the most part, a well to do area. There are many multi million dollar homes. One of their zip codes 77494 (southwest area) is one of the fastest growing zip codes in the US. However, there are the older areas that are more average. This particular address is more in the average part of Katy. It is in the Northeastern side, close to Cypress, TX. I’d have to look, it may even be in the Cy-Fair ISD instead of the Katy School District.

Maybe they were found in a bedroom that wasn't normally used. It looks like a fairly large house with an attic room.

That is not the correct house.
The house pictured is from another case from May in another part of Houston, not Katy.
Not sure why that picture popped up in the Chronicle story for this current case. Must be a glitch on their website.

The correct house is in the video in this story.

Knowing how large the Katy area is (many parts of Ft Bend county are considered Katy, but not actually incorporated into any city, making population in excess of 300,000,) I don’t find the rate of murder to be that high. The Temple case was back in 2007. The Sheats case, which occurred in my neighborhood, was very sad. The mom had a history of mental illness.

Silverhawk Drive is on the north side of I10, but it IS in KISD.

Ok, it’s on the border then. My sister lived about 2 miles north and was not Katy ISD, but had a Katy address. I don’t know where the border is without looking it up.
