This reminds me of the mom who killed herself and her two daughters to get back at her husband. I think that happened in TX too. Can't remember the names right now.

While the Greater Katy area is estimated to have a population in excessive of 300,000, the current population of the actual city of Katy is only estimated to be around 18,000. That does include areas from 3 counties - Harris, Fort Bend and Waller.
Katy, Texas - Wikipedia

I am not sure if all the addresses of these 3 high profile crimes are considered to be within the city of Katy. My preliminary research indicates all are not. My humble opinion that these 3 murder cases seem like a lot for the area is based on the fact that they ARE high profile I guess.

Temple - 22592 Round Valley Drive, Katy, TX
Sheats - 6011 Remson Hollow Lane, Katy, TX
Perez - 3800 block of Silverhawk Drive, Katy, TX

Interesting to note that the Temple murder is scheduled to be retried in February 2019, some 20 years after it occurred.

I’m not sure how they all became high profile.

FYI: None of these addresses are in Katy proper. 22592 Round Valley Dr is South of I-10 by a mile or two and just east of HWY 99 (Grand Parkway, the newest and 3rd look to go around Houston.) 6011 Remson Hollow (this one was in my neighborhood) it is in the furthest SW corner of the Katy ISD (almost to Fulshear on the west and Richmond on the south). These are nearly 10 miles apart. 3800 block of Silverhawk Dr is in the far NW boundaries of Katy ISD. It is about 8 miles from the Round Valley address and a little over 16.5 miles from Remson Hollow. While it may not seem that far, when you live there, see the community layouts and traffic, you see there is a big difference. In normal, local traffic it would take nearly 35 minutes to get from Silverhawk to Remson Hollow.

When you consider the Katy, TX area has surpassed Pittsburgh in population, I don’t think the few murders we’ve seen is really excessive. (Don’t get me wrong, I think even one is too much!) But, I always felt safe in Katy.

I just used the hundred block address listed in the initial report. It may be off one or two houses. But will be pretty accurate.

Stepfather, 2 teenage girls shot to death inside Katy home

It’s not a big deal, but I wonder why my google map shows a somewhat different location? Am I doing something wrong with the block address? I am by no means a map whiz, so I am truly trying to learn.
Here is the screenshot of your link with the dropped pin:

And here is what came up when I tried entering the block address:

Maybe I’m not using Google maps correctly?
Again, no biggie, just for my own education.
Thanks!

It could be me, it’s the first time I’ve attempted to pin and post a map! I’m trying again, with a label this time. It is south of Clay Road, east of Greenhouse, north of Morton Rd and west of Fry Rd.

Thanks for the information that none of the addresses are in Katy proper. The city limits are somewhat smaller than I realized. The intersections of I10 & Mason or I10 & Fry are not within Katy city limits, and that was a surprise to me. I have driven in that area daily for the past 15 years. I currently work near 99 & Westpark Tollway so I know the distances between the locations fairly well. Always something new to learn though!

I would say all 3 cases would be considered high profile because of several reasons I can think of. They all involved the murders of children or soon-to-be-born children, they happened in suburban residential well-kept neighborhoods, and they were publicized in the news. Just my opinion of course, but I think you were asking that, no? If not, please forgive me and ignore my long winded reply :).

Over nine in ten murders are committed by men.

It is amazing at how small Katy proper actually is!

99 and Westpark Tollway was not far from me at all! Hubby took Westpark Tollway/1093 from FM 1463 to Alief to work every week. Previous neighbors!

I absolutely agree that Katy IS safe. The crimes I am referencing are tragic familial crimes perpetrated by someone close to the victims. That is really what stands out to me. In the successful beautiful upscale neighborhoods of a safe place like Katy TX, there is still tragedy behind some of the front doors. And I am putting the Temple murder in that category because my opinion is that the right person has already been convicted in spite of the court rulings to overturn that verdict.

Yes, the Sheats family, which also happened in the greater Katy area. And while I have compassion for those who suffer from mental illness, as Christy Sheats did, I hate that her children died as a result of it. So so sad.

LE believes it is a double murder / suicide. Not much to discuss.

Sorry to take it here, but I cannot sit on my hands any longer.

Why would a man kill his 2 teen stepdaughters, in the bedroom, then shoot himself?

I have to wonder if the girls threatened to tell people what StepDad was doing to them.
