TX - Katy, 2 teens and stepfather found shot to death in their home - 4 NOV 2018

Very well could be. Our house had a media room. We didn’t have use for it, so it wasn’t just a storage room for us. I would never have went looking for my family there.

But if you couldn’t find your family, wouldn’t you at least look there before calling the police? I also have a room in my house we rarely use but I would think I’d take a peek in there before I called the cops saying I can’t find my family.

Sorry to take it here, but I cannot sit on my hands any longer.

Why would a man kill his 2 teen stepdaughters, in the bedroom, then shoot himself?

I have to wonder if the girls threatened to tell people what StepDad was doing to them.

Maybe. Anything’s possible. But I think it’s also possible there were marital issues. I don’t mean this in a victim blaming way at all, or trying to defend the stepdad by any means, but I can’t picture my husband leaving me home with my teenage stepdaughters while he went out until 3am unless it was a one off special occasion. The mom being out until 3am coupled with her calling the police saying she couldn’t find her family (when they were inside the house) is giving me a weird vibe.

Harris County records show Portillo owned the home where he and the girls died.

At times, Isabella hinted to her pal that something was not right in her family.

“She always said there were problems but she could never really talk about it,” Jessica said. “It was too hard for her. I didn’t force her to tell me anything.”

Probably not. There would be no reason for them to be there. It would be like checking my attic. I think I’d be so panicked I wouldn’t even think straight.

Thank you @bears10 for this information.

I hope and pray that their friends will receive counselling because this is naturally extremely traumatic to them. They will need comfort and help processing this.

Sounds like the girls attended the same school for years. There is a wave of tremendous sadness and grief throughout this community.

May the family and the community members hold one another close at this unfathomable time.

Beautiful memories of Isabella and Maria will live forever.

Their lights will always shine in every single person's heart who knew and loved them.

God Bless Isabella and Maria. May they Rest in Peace.

Maybe Mom didn't search every room of the house when she got home because there was a note or Step-Dad called/texted her while she was out that he and the kids would be "gone" when she returned? Maybe she got home and girls weren't in their rooms and neither was he so she called police immediately?
