Do we know if anyone ever went to the tattoo parlors and interviewed them?? You would assume that this would be done, but I have learned to never assume anything.

I'm basing it on BarbaraTXCrimeNews' comment that ...

nearby tattoo studio stated her Mickey Mouse tattoo was not done at their facility, however, it appears to be very new (4-6 wks)

She didn't say which nearby tattoo studio, but that one is apparently the closest nearby.

I've been looking through pages of Mickey Mouse images and it seems that for some time in the 1970s* he was shown wearing a red shirt, blue pants, yellow shoes and white gloves. For this outfit, it actually would have been correct for his pants to not have the two buttons like his red shorts have.

...Not that this information is of much use. The tattoo looks like a "stock" picture of Mickey and maybe something the tattoo artist just eyeballed from a picture.

* The UID would have been far too young to have actually gotten this tattoo in the 1970s, as her earliest possible birthdate would have been 1974 if she was 35 (upper limit of the estimated age range) in 2009.

She was walking west when struck in the center south bound lane of S. Mason Rd. (intersection of S. Mason Rd. & Cimarron Pkwy.) It is a very busy intersection.

There are many businesses and restaurants on S. Mason Rd. With Carl's new pics, we may be able to distribute a poster to more.

"How did she get there" is a good question. Did she get mad at the driver she was with and bolt from the car across traffic??

It is unknown if a car was found abandoned...very worth checking into.

The tattoo studio on S Mason did not recognize the victim and stated that the tattoo was poor quality (not their kind of work) and appeared fairly new
(4-6 wks).

Thanks again!

Barbara

Great job everyone!!!! Quick question - do we know exactly "where" she was killed? All of the media reports seem sort of vague. They all mention the "900 block" of S. Mason Road. I think it would be very helpful to know what business she might have been going to, or coming from. How did she get there? Is there a bus stop close by? Was a car ever found abandoned?? There is an interesting little business that sells "smoking supplies", "adult novelites", and "tattoo supplies" at 920-A S. Mason Rd, Katy, TX. I wonder if they were ever shown her picture and asked if they remembered her coming in.

I had noticed the poor quality of that tattoo (not just the unusual depiction of Mickey Mouse, but in the unevenly applied ink), and thought that a professional tattoo artist would not stay in business very long with that level of work. Although homemade tattoos are not usually done in color, perhaps the tattoo artist was a beginner who was not yet in business.

Barbara

would be interesting to check if any abandoned vehicles were impounded/towed from a one mile radius within one week of the accident.

The "beginner" quality of the tattoo is one of the reasons I was interested in the business close to where she was found called "Bizarre Bazaar" - they sell tattoo supplies, so if someone was just "learning" to do tattoo's, they would go there perhaps???

I wonder if it's worth posting on one of the show-off-my-tats websites to see if anybody recognizes it?

here's a thought and I'll say this as delicately as I can. I'm sure LE saw her as a car accident victim but it is possible that she was a sexual assault victim and may have been fleeing from this attacker.

any information on whether LE checked out whether there were any signs of sexual assault? or for that matter whether she had any very recent relations? DNA of the last male contact might have been present and even if there was no crime, it could help lead to her identity, if his DNA happened to be in any LE database.

That's probably a little excessive speculation. From what I understand, it was a rainy night, and the guy just didn't see her crossing the street.. I don't think there is any subplot here.

not the guy who struck her with his car. say she was running from a guy whom she was just with (sexually). in the process of running, she got hit by the car.

I knew you weren't talking about the driver.

Due to the nature of my work, nothing surprises me anymore. I did a background check on a guy that creeped me out, I remember hoping one of the other people would wait on him and none of them were moving. So I ran it and saw he had lots of rapes, sodomy, assault, etc. All refused, doesn't surprise me. Read some of the reports connected, and some of his victims ran outside half naked in the middle of winter to get away from this guy. I've read stranger police reports and they wouldn't make that info public at all. I will sometimes run a name thats connected to a homicide that I read in the local paper, you would be surprise what isn't made public. Yes it could be an innocent hit and run or there could be something else to it. Without a report in hand with none of the info redaxed I'm going to be open to other explainations.

OK... now that we have a more specific area where she was hit, I was looking at local businesses. There is a bar just up the road from where she was hit names Einstein's Pub. They have a facebook page, so I went to it, and was browsing their photo's. Does this patron look like our UID? Our UID also had two gold crowns on her front teeth from what I have read; one upper and one lower. It isn't a very good picture, but this patron sort of looks like she might have a lower gold crown, and the eyebrows and nose look similar.

nose looks different to me.

besides, the deceased had NO money on her so she was not looking to make any purchases at any eatery, bar or other retail establishment.

heck, she could have hitchhiked been robbed and ran away (with or without any sexual contact).

So, there was no purse or wallet with her??? That in itself is just odd, isn't it?? I can't think of any where that I go without something on me. Do we know what else she was wearing besides the Elkins High School jacket?

I found one other picture on the Einstein's Pub FB account of what appears to be the same lady. Here it is compared with CarlK's front recreation. Not so sure they look much alike in this comparison.

Lack of money or ID might not mean anything, depending. Many people who live in areas where there's a lot of robbery don't carry their ID around unless they're doing something they might need it for. You don't want to get it stolen. You only carry enough money for what you plan to buy; you don't want to get it stolen. People who are looking to buy drugs don't usually carry ID. Nor do women looking to trade drugs for sex, or just sell sex. You don't want to have your real name on you if you think you're going to get arrested.

Not saying that it's the case here, but it is not uncommon for people from countries where they drive on the left side of the street (e.g., UK, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India, et. al.) to be struck by cars in the U.S. because they are accustomed to looking first to their right before stepping into the street, and often they only look to the right and not to the left (i.e., until they get to the center-divider).

Similarly, Americans frequently are hit by cars in these countries because they look to the left first. I know that I've caught myself doing that when I was in Australia and New Zealand.

The more times I look at this picture, the harder it is for me to believe this woman's race is white. I know I read that she does not have any African American heritage, but I'm wondering if she isn't Hispanic or American Indian. Do you think the reported race has kept someone from coming forward about her identity? Just a thought.
