I can't imagine if he didn't give a confession, why he would have offered them to search his property. Did he possibly claim she was put there by someone else ?

Probably. I'm interested to hear the whole story. I don't think anyone else was involved, but glad LE are leaving no loose ends!

If I knew the first several hours, I'm sure LE knew too. That garbled statement that his wife gave had "I DID IT" written all over it. It made no sense. I hope that NO ONE was covering for him because if they were..they need to be arrested also.

Looks like hes got quite a few scratches on his face and possibly a bruise on his forehead.

I did a little research earlier and since he's a non-citizen there will be additional coordination of agencies. I'm all for perfecting the case. That - and non-citizens are still eligible for the DP.

Thank you I'm glad his immigration status wont change anything and he can still be held fully accountable for what he has done.

I'm glad texas takes such a tough stance with sentencing these crimes I understand from this link he will possibly be charged with Capital Murder as it is not known in Texas. They don't have first degree murder in Texas. It looks like he could face life without parole or even the death penalty. Does the fact it looks like he may be here illegally change anything about him being charged? I understand Texas isn't a sanctuary city.

In addition to the above criteria, in order for the charge to be capital murder, as opposed to just "murder' in Texas, one of the following must apply:

The defendant intentionally commits the murder in the course of committing or attempting to commit kidnapping, burglary, robbery, aggravated sexual assault, arson, obstruction or retaliation, or terroristic threat;

RBBM

I'm betting that two of those conditions apply. :furious: 🤬🤬🤬.

I wonder if the "immigration status" issue = they aren't sure they have the right name for him/who he really is, hence not releasing a name.

So glad he didn't run - though I think he never got a chance to run. I'm thinking, and could be wrong, but I don't think Mexico would have allowed extradition because he will be eligible for the DP. Could you post the Smith County jail link again please? I'm on a different computer now.

Yes, he does! He looks mean and those eyes - those killer eyes - dead eyes! I was thinking Kayla at 10 years old could have put up a good fight! Bless her heart!

He could have several aliases. Just thinking his FB pages (thank you skibaboo) was under Gomez, but he is being held under another last name.

Wow. I was totally wrong about this, I really hoped it wasn't this guy!

I am sure he does. I have found more than one for him, and they have different names on them.

I wonder if he's the one that initially mentioned the red SUV.

I went looking for that original article mentioning the cousin. Thought I'd repost the link in case anyone else was looking....(it took a while for it to load for me though.) This article was originally published on Wednesday the 2nd.

http://www.tylerpaper.com/TP-News+Local/255530/amber-alert-issued-for-missing-bullard-girl

Kayla's cousin, Ester Zavala, said after the service was over, between 7:30 and 7:40 p.m., Kayla was in the foyer of the church with Ms. Zavala’s 2-year-old daughter. Family members said it's common for kids to play in the foyer during the service.
Ms. Zavala said she was not at the church that evening, but her daughter and husband, Gustavo, attended the service and were possibly the last people to see Kayla before she disappeared.
Ms. Zavala's husband told her, “Kayla bent down to hug (my daughter) and said, I’ll see you Friday. My husband buckled her up, and said, ‘We’re leaving.’ (Kayla) didn’t come outside. She is scared of the dark. She stayed in the lobby area.”
By the time Gustavo Zavala made it home, an estimated five-minute drive, family was calling asking if Kayla rode with him, because they couldn’t find her, Ms. Zavala said.

I hope when the arrest warrant is issued, they do another press conference or something with some more info. Though I do dread hearing the details. :(
