I don't know what kind of trees there were. I know it was said bamboo, but bamboo does not have strong outward branches. But, they are very dense so what I want to say is that in that part of the country if you are in a bunch of trees you are always aware of what is above you and below you. There are poison snakes everywhere especially if it is an area not frequently visited. If it were me, I would have on boots and probably carrying a pistol. jmo

I am thinking the bamboo might be something like this.

Bamboo with a tree or trees and scrub keeping you from seeing the ground under the tree.

At least in my mind that is what I am envisioning.

I have been thinking about you and what you wrote since I read this. BBM I just want to tell you in my household I am in better health than my husband. We too have been married for many years. He suffers from both heart and back problems.

Honestly there are no limitations on his love for me. I would rather spend forever with him and any disabilities he brings to our marriage.

He is kind and good and loving and has always thought the moon rises and sets on me. I would rather spend a few good years with this kind gentle man than travel the earth with another.

Rest easy. Your husband loves you...just the way you are!

BBM

Thanks for your beautiful post and kind words! :loveyou:

Yes, I know he does love me just the way I am. He makes sure I do. And there are no limitations on my love for him (I like the way you phrased that). I'm glad you have that kind of love between you and your husband too. I count my blessings that even though we found each other when we were pretty young, we've been able to grow older together with ever-deepening love.

bbm - do we know that? I don't think so, I can not remember reading she was found in 'bamboo'. If you read that somewhere please point me to it. TY

Anyway I don't think climbing a bamboo is easy. We have bamboo in front of our house, the branches (if you call them that in bamboo) are smooth and slippery. Bamboo has no side branches, it mostly points up and leans a little bit sideways. I think it would be nearly impossible to hang yourself in it.

Nevertheless, could she have accidentally strangled herself with her backpack while climbing a tree? I think it's certainly possible but we don't know how she was found.

Thinking of Josh and the family, they must be in shock still, most of all Josh and her parents and siblings. Sending them positive energy and healing for their hearts.

This is pure speclation but I would not be surprised that when Josh got the call about LE and based on the location that he did not go directly there. I know that I would. I am sure he knows the details from first hand info. jmo

I get that she could've only been seen if one looked up, but I keep going back to the arial search...they would've been looking down. Just don't see how they missed her. So sad that she hung there for almost a month. Ugh. Just cannot imagine what her family is going through.

I can see them missing her in an aerial search. If it was a tree and the tree had lots of leaves it would be very hard to spot her. I posted a picture of what I think the area must have looked like. Take a look and see what I mean.

I find it difficult to believe that LB did not consider the affect on family and friends.

While I don't know Josh, he seems like a nice guy, and this will haunt him for the rest of his life, and determine who he is. Her elderly parents will have a deep hole in their hearts, and her siblings will be forever seeking answers. Her friends who respected her as a role model and friend will forever seek answers.

All I can think to say, Jon Donne, author of No Man is an Island, has already said,

"No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were: any mans death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee."

Aaaa what a thoughtful quote and fits perfectly! For those unfamiliar with the quote and it's meaning I offer the following;

The meaning of the quote 'no man is an island' is that man is a social being that cannot exist without his fellows. No one is self-sufficient and everyone relies on the other for successful survival. It is a quote from 'Devotions' by John Donne.

Was Leanne a 'tree climber'? I know they did a lot of hiking but now I wonder if they also enjoyed tree climbing when traveling and exploring.

For Leanne, maybe this is how you felt?

Gary Jules "Mad World"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world mad world

Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

And I find it kinda funny
I find it kinda sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very mad world ... mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

Mad World - Gary Jules & Michael Andrews (Official music video) w/ lyrics - YouTube

Sad song, I feel like crying now.

Thanks for the description. Hurts my heart to think of this poor woman looking for a spot.

It was a perfect and moving quote for prosecutor Juan Martinez to use at the end of his closing argument in the trial of Jodi Arias. He left the jurors with the thought that Travis Alexander's death "diminished" each one of us.

Leanne's death does also.

If they let him know what was going on as far as finding LB's body and the location, I am sure he went over there. I don't know if they would call and let him know, but I don't know why not. He was so close I just think he would go to the recovery site. jmo

You are so right! It isn't about "us" or "them" or the family they leave behind. Those who are having such a hard time believing she did this, should stop to think... it was not about Josh, or her own family, it was about HER and her need to end her pain. We did not know her, we have no idea what her reasons were, or what she was going through.

When you think about it, suicide is a selfish act. At that point in time, they are only thinking of ending whatever torment is going through their minds. It's more about the pain they're living through, than it is about what it will do to their loved ones.

Some suicides are of people who truly are mentally ill and not in their "right mind" either. Meaning this description does not fit. It is about getting out of pain but for some as with my daughter she truly did not have what she needed to make it in this world.

There are some who fit this category too.

It's hard to judge until we walk in their shoes.

Gotcha. :)

Yes I was thinking about that too. How do they normally do it? Call the family? Go over in person to bring the bad news? I would think they would go there in person after it was determined that it was indeed Leanne, no? But he might have heard it already sooner through neighborhood grapevine and ran over there. If he did they stopped him way outside of the yellow tape since he is in none of the photos where they retrieve her body. Or maybe his parents stopped him from going there.

IDK, would LE even allow a loved one to see their spouse in that situation?
I'm thinking LE would protect the spouse. imo

I would strongly assume that too.
