My understanding is that she's with her grandparents while CPS is checking out the suitability of other relatives for a longer placement.
Maybe it was said, but is the mother in the picture?

Hector Flores Jr. was sentenced to five years probation in Sept 2022 on child endangerment charges. Flores Jr was found to be in violation of the terms of probation a month or so later and a warrant was issued for his arrest on October 24.

Big Bend Sentinel on November 16, 2022:
Hector Flores Jr. re-arrested as he appeals judgment in BBNP child endangerment case
"On October 24, court records show, Judge Counts issued a warrant for Flores’ arrest on the grounds that he had violated the terms of his probation, which forbade the unlawful use or possession of a controlled substance and the possession of firearms. In a drug test, Flores tested positive for cocaine, and a home search revealed several rifles in his possession, according to a petition filed with the court...As for the probation violation, Flores’ probation officer has recommended the terms of his supervision be revoked. Flores awaits a hearing at which the probation will either be continued or revoked."

I can't find any more recent updates on Big Bend Sentinel or Marfa Public Radio. At the time of sentencing, Flores' lawyer informed the court that the child endangerment charges would be appealed. No word on the status of that appeal or if Mr. Flores' hearing on probation revocation has taken place.
