Update: As of 5:35 p.m. the Islamic Center of San Antonio has increased the reward to $20,000.

Local law enforcement and the FBI are examining footage from multiple sources to try and find a missing 3-year-old girl. The San Antonio Police Department provided updates at a press conference Wednesday afternoon on the ongoing search for Lina Sardar Khil.

Lina went missing Monday, December 20, from the playground at her family's apartment complex on the 9400 block of Fredericksburg Road. SAPD Chief William McManus said the first hours are very important in a missing persons case like this, but added time is passing quickly.

"Early on is very important. Unfortunately, I have to say the longer time lapses the less hopeful we become," McManus said during the press conference.

So the mother was at the park with the child, the child went down a pathway, the mother did not immediately follow, and when she did she could not find the child? Is that more accurate?
No, from some MSM the mom watched Lina walk down a "path" lost sight and mom went into their apt to see if she was there, she obviously wasn't so all hell broke loose. Other MSM says mom left Lina at the park and went into her apt for a brief time and when she returned Lina wasn't there. The same hell broke loose.

  1. Mom was watching Lina at the playground
  2. Lina made her way to a nearby path and disappeared
  3. Mom left the playground area for a short time
  4. Mom returned and Lina was missing
Questions:

Why didn't Mom follow Lina down the path? She just watched her disappear and then went somewhere else? Where did Mom go? MOO

Ok so a couple things I keep seeing and I want to highlight, due to the amount of people focusing on the wrong things.
1. Her age and info.
*Afgan, and middle east or any 3rd world country for that matter do not document like the majority of the world does. I cannot tell you how many men and women and especially kids I came across over the course of the 4 years I was in the area who had absolutely no documentation of any kind. She was a refugee, therefore if facts cannot be confirmed, its likely she is loosely related to if at all the mom. Either way, navigating her exact details is futile, sadly.
2. The claim of her walking down a path and disappearing.
*Its extremely possible this actually happened. I am not wanting to upset anyone here but I have found that typically poorer families and ethnic families allow their kids to wander around more than typical American families. The reason not being a slight on them persay, but rather that in their countries or culture the children were fairly safer as communities are tighter knit and smaller. As america and the greater civilized worlds have evolved, the tighter knit, everyone looks out for the kids communities have not completely, but mostly gone away. Also, coming from Afganistan, even though this is a terrible area, its still “safer” than where they come from. Or, at least the idea surely made it feel this way as why would a child be in more danger in America than in Afganistan right? Truth is, its almost true, depending on the area you live in. So I believe for sure its possible that there was no fast movement or stern control of this babygirl.

That’s an impressive reward. If nothing else, it might help sharpen focus and have people thinking harder about what they might have seen or heard. That amount of money could make it worthwhile to overcome any fear of LE.

According to the father, the mother saw Lina walking on the path and thought she was going home, so the mom went home and Lina wasn't there.

This reward keeps getting larger/quickly. Makes me think they're reaching out to someone who wants a fast buck and will talk. IMO. That makes me think kidnapping of some sort. If she were lost the $ wouldn't be such a big deal. Am I wrong on this?

No you are not wrong. This is looking more and more like an abduction.

But wouldn't there be a travel document with the mom? Even if Lina is not her actual daughter, I would think there would at least be a "made up" birth date.

My relatives all made up their birth dates because they needed birth dates to get in the US. US officials new the birth dates were BS, but everyone has to be born right? This was 1910-1925. They did not have actual birth dates, so they just made them up.

A friend of mine from Iran, who came in the 70's had to make up a birth date.

Then and now. You can also see the “pathways” leading from this area. Lina’s mother said she went down a pathway and disappeared. I wonder which one she took? Quite a few apartments overlook that area. The third photo I’ve posted shows one path that went around the corner and which has an entranceway to a building with apartments that overlook the park. Easy to watch her from a window, slip down to the entrance door and grab her as she walked by. Bring her up to your apartment.

Something like this?

Okay, sorry for being thick-headed. I think I missed the word "either" which would imply that Lina's mother searched the area where Lina went missing and then went to check the apt. Horrible reporting...but I'll leave it alone now, lol. MOO

Father of missing 3-year-old girl at center of AMBER Alert speaks to KENS 5
Khil said Lina's mother was watching her on the playground of their northwest-San Antonio complex when the little girl made her way to a nearby path and suddenly disappeared. Her mother thought she may have returned to their apartment unit, but when she didn't find her there either a search ensued.

It doesn't make sense to me that Lina's mother saw her disappear down a pathway. Wouldn't she have went after Lina and brought her back? To be clear, I'm not throwing shade at Lina's mother; not at all, I just don't see her watching Lina disappear and then leaving the area - momentarily or otherwise - to come back and find her gone. If Lina disappeared down a path with her mother watching, Lina was already gone wasn't she? What am I missing? MOO
I think the earliest reports were lost in translation. However, it doesn’t seem to make sense even with the most recent version. I think Lina’s mom saw her wander off down a path and lost sight of her. It sounds like she thought Lina was headed for home. However, when mom went to the home Lina wasn't there, then she began searching in earnest. My question is when Mom went to the home did she take the same path she saw Lina take?
It was reported that dogs picked up Lina’s scent, but lost it shortly thereafter. I wish we knew where the scent ended.

With the play areas all being fenced off I wonder if she saw her disappear up a path but wasn’t particularly close by, and then had to take a slightly different route from where she was to get to the apartment. I don’t think they’ve mentioned if she was out there with siblings as well. Maybe the mother was attending to another child or something.

This makes sense. Mom going to the apartment has been bugging me. But, this makes a lot of sense.

This parking lot seems closest, so which pathway? Did she walk towards home, or away from home?

Do we even know which unit Lina lived in?

My impression: She went down kind of a dark path. (It wasn't dark at all, but shadows are getting long) She met someone she knew/recognized. He asked her to "visit with him"..."visit with him" could mean numerous things, but it would be something that the child would agree with...it could have been that she was lost and the person offered to take her to her mom...something that seemed innocuous to Lina. The perp probably lives at the apartments

If Lina went down a path towards home, and mom saw that, you'd think that mom would go down the same path.
She didn't find her at home.

But......there are intersecting paths so maybe Lina went one way and mom the other towards home.
Do we have any info on where exactly their apartment was in the complex?

Does anyone remember the case where a little girl disappeared in a complex of townhouses, and where she was found buried in a green space nearby by a fence? The perp was a young man who lived alone in the same complex. I can't remember her name, nor where this happened.
I really fear this may be a similar scenario here. :(

I suppose wondering which path is like wondering how old. Photos show her approximate height and weight, and she disappeared possibly into an apartment, and possibly into a parking lot.

Was there a door to door search in a neighbourhood? If so, that might be shades of the homeland.
