There have been some teens that ended up being the perps in these cases. The young girl, last seen, riding her bike around her apt. complex, an artist's compound, in Santa Cruz, Ca. ---and a police officer saw a teen dumping his trash ---they found the child's body in the dumpster. :( I think her name was Hannah?

And the teen who was arrested for assaulting and killing a 5 yr old neighbor girl that he had befriended---and he dumped her in the woods behind their complex. I think he is still awaiting trial as they have to test him for mental competency ...last I heard.

Another recent one was in the UK--Irish coast, I believe. A 6 yr old child was taken out of her bed while her parents were sleeping---and murdered. A 16 yr old neighbour who had previously bought pot from someone in her family was arrested for her murder. I think he snuck in to steal drugs or cash but found the sleeping child and took her?

And of course that crazy guy who snuck in, and was video recorded as he kidnapped a sleeping boy, while his twin brother slept next to him. So horrifying.

Teens can be quite evil and brutal.
Thanks to you and everyone who responded. I wish I'd never asked. This is so upsetting and I had no idea there were these cases. I am sick to my stomach. So sad!!

Non-profits and community members rally behind family of missing 3-year-old girl

SAN ANTONIO — The disappearance of 3-year-old Lina Sardar Khil has changed the apartment community where she lived. One resident said children no longer play outside.

“It’s not the same, you don’t see the kids running outside playing anymore. You don’t feel that sense of fun when you walk outside the door. It’s just this sense of fear and dread and worry,” said Deli Saiza.

Saiza has lived at the Villas Del Cabo apartment complex for several months. She remembers one time seeing Lina with a group girls.

“They all came running up and started petting my dog. That definitely kind of stuck out as I started seeing her in the news and everything, so it was kind of hard to know that it’s someone that’s just a couple buildings over,” Saiza said.

San Antonio-based non-profit Culturingua has been at the forefront of the city-wide response to welcome new Afghan refugees.

“We are actively working and hope that we can create a vibrant community in and around the Medical Center area for people to live prosperous lives and the foundation for that is having a safe neighborhood in which to live,” said Nadia Mavrakis, CEO of Culturingua.*

Saiza questions if functioning apartment gates would have prevented Lina’s disappearance. But she’s focused on the future and rallying behind Lina’s family.

“For those were at the vigil they said we’re all San Antonians, we’re all Americans here. I’m glad that the community sees it that way.”

Eventually the Medical Center attracted Middle Eastern and Asian immigrants. A unique community developed and is centered around this area. South Texas Medical Center - Wikipedia

I thought about a younger teen suspect as well, but discounted for the very reason you state - lack of transportation would mean Lina would likely be found within days and nearby the complex.

Since it's been six days now, I'm leaning towards a male perp who likely had her in his vehicle very quickly :(

So sad....And so many places..
Baby Gabriel was never found....

I'm hoping to hear something positive on this story today. Poor little mouse.

I'm questioning the info on the missing bulletin. That they say she is 3 years old, and is 4 feet tall and weighs 55 lbs., doesn't sound feasible. If you're looking for a missing child, I think it's kinda important to have the details correct. That's my reasoning and I only speak for myself. If you think those details are logical that's okay too.
I can understand the height and weight being off for a variety of reasons. I can't think of a reason that her parents wouldn't know her age.

I've been out of the news loop for a bit so I'm just learning about this.

Praying for Lina.

This was in an interesting article about refugees from Afghanistan:

"The children's names and birth dates are wrong on all the official documents issued during their journey -- a problem she imagines is common for many of the Afghan children who were evacuated without their parents. That, she fears, means families searching for loved ones might not be able to find each other."

1,450 Afghan kids were evacuated to the US without their parents. Some are still in limbo - CNN

I can't imagine going through only some of that trauma... only to have a daughter vanish in a foreign country.

San Antonio billboards set up in search for missing 3-year-old who vanished from playground | Fox News

Volunteers and private companies are pitching in to help with the search for missing 3-year-old Lina Sadar Khil, who vanished from a playground at her family's apartment complex in San Antonio on Monday evening.

Kenjoh Outdoor, an advertising company with digital billboards throughout the United States, put up two billboards in San Antonio on Wednesday at no cost after sarch activists contacted them.

"Nothing like this has ever come across our desks," Jake Levine, a salesperson at Kenjoh, told Fox News. "I'm really happy to play a small part."

Wondering if anyone in the area knows someone that missed an appointment that day, or a resident of the complex or near to the complex was supposed to have a visitor thst day who didnt show up. Or is someone nearby left work early or called out for their shift?

This is from last week, but I did not know anything about this particular search that occurred Wednesday a few miles from where Lina disappeared. They must have received a tip.

Also noted subhead says, "near apartments" and it says it twice...so I think they mean "near". The Express-News is pretty good about getting these types of details accurate.

Search widens for missing 3-year-old - San Antonio Express, 12/23/2021

San Antonio police expanded their search area Wednesday as they continued to look for missing 3-year-old Lina Sardar Khil

snip..............................

Police were searching Wednesday morning in the Oakdale Street area, roughly 3 miles from the apartment complex where Lina was last seen Monday evening, though officials would not say what led them to that area.

snip............................

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said a K9 unit initially picked up Lina’s scent near the apartment complex but later lost it.

The next day, police expanded their search to the area near Oakdale Street and Loop 410 frontage road, where K9 units and officers on ATVs appeared to be searching drainage ditches.

I think he is still awaiting trial as they have to test him for mental competency ...last I heard. They became suspicious of him because he kept stalling about offering his DNA, like all the other residents in the neighbourhood agreed to do voluntarily.

Another recent one was in the UK--Irish coast, I believe. A 6 yr old child was taken out of her bed while her parents were sleeping---and murdered. Ugh. I also remember one of the early cases I followed here after joining, 5-year-old Katherine Alejandra Gonzalez. Her teen cousin took her to an empty apartment in their complex and raped and murdered her. Two little girls were able to identify the kid.

Hopefully kids who were on the playground when Lina disappeared have been able to give some helpful information to LE. I also remember Lonzie's case where his sister actually described the neighborhood where Ruben dumped his body but it sounded a bit outlandish and she wasn't taken seriously.

IMO little kids, even toddlers, can be a source of information if someone's willing to listen.

It's been a week. I wish LE would at least clarify if they suspect an abduction. I don't know why they're being so coy.

One week later: What we know about SAPD's search for missing 3-year-old

The police chief told the members at the Islamic center. “We need your assistance if you know anything. Even if you think it may not help we want you to call us and give us any information you have. You don’t have to give us your name. As it was said before we are not going to come looking for you or question you or intimidate you. If you have information that is all we want. You don’t have to give your name.”
...
“If it were an abduction, we could be looking for an individual or have evidence of a child being abducted,” McManus said. “Right now, we don’t have any of that. That may change, but right now, it’s still a missing person.”

The day she disappeared, her family reported her missing at 7:15 p.m. and an Amber Alert was issued.

According to a department spokesperson, there is no indication that Lina is with a family member, ABC News previously reported.

Since Lina’s disappearance, the police have been searching on foot and by air, and have been using K9 assistance. Part of their effort has been going door to door, to each of the 300 apartment units in the complex.
